Sage Matthews – the Harper brothers’ “Spitfire” – has been in love with the four brothers (Logan, Mac, Zeb, and Caleb) for as long as she can remember, but they have always treated her like a little sister. At 25, she’s finally ready to give up her quest for the brothers because it doesn’t seem like anything is going to happen, and she’s done with feeling unwanted. While Sage is attempting to let go, the Harper brothers are ready to finally give in to what they have wanted for over 10 years – HER!
With the help of her friends and her new perspective on the Harper brothers, Sage and her friends head to a night club to let loose and, hopefully, get laid. For Sage, this is the first night of her “sexual awakening,” but it’s also the night the brothers stake their claim. The only problem is that Sage is holding a secret that nobody knows about and one of the brothers is unwilling to give in to his desire for her. What happens between Sage and the Harper brothers is one erotic ride, but when the lust clears, who will Sage give her heart to and will all the brothers claim her or will insecurities win out?
At times, I had a hard time with Sage. Obviously, her nickname is “Spitfire” for a reason, but for parts of the text, she doesn’t live up to the name. I completely understand that some events in the text knock her down…they would anyone, but there were times where I wanted Sage to fight back and unleash her wrath on a few people, and she didn’t. Sage’s friends were an interesting group; it seemed like there were a lot of secrets being kept, which was an odd dynamic of their relationship since they seemed so close.
If I was in Sage’s position, I would probably have a hard time choosing one of the Harper brothers as well, so it’s probably a good thing that they all want her and that she’s willing to have that kind of relationship. They are four hot alpha males who, as a whole, provide Sage all she needs, and while I definitely saw the connection between all of them, I would have liked to understand the brothers all a little better; it was hard for me to understand their actions because it didn’t seem like we were given a lot of insight into each one, especially Mac.
Overall, I enjoyed reading Harper’s Little Spitfire. Angel Steel definitely knows how to write sex scenes. There were some scenes that were so hot that I was afraid my iPad was going to melt from all the smut;) Even though I would have liked a bit more of a plot besides Sage and the Harper brothers figuring out the best way to move forward together, it was definitely interesting seeing them figure things out and experiment. The book is left open-ended, though, so I hope there’s going to be another book because I was completely lost by what happened at the end.
