M.N. Forgy’s debut biker book is a great read that illustrates the dark and gritty side of alpha bikers and their world. It’s a life that the heroine, Dani Lexington, doesn’t know anything about, but it’s one she’s going to get a crash course in once she learns the President of the Devil’s Dust MC, Bull, is her father and the Sargent-at-Arms, Shadow, is the man who makes her feel free from a life that was never really hers.
The only life Dani has ever known is the one her mother has had her on since birth. Her mom has forced her to stay on a certain path – one where she acts and says what she’s told and any kind of “inappropriate” behavior is shut down before it even starts. Even at 21 years old, Dani’s life is run by her mother, but when her mom gets into trouble and the only person she can call for help is Dani’s father, a whole new world opens up to Dani, and it’s one that fits her much better than her mother’s.

The immediate attraction between Dani and Shadow is something they both don’t know how to handle. Dani sees Shadow’s darkness, and she also knows he’s not the type of guy who stays with one woman, especially when there are biker whores ready and willing. Despite all of her reasons to stay away from him, though, she can’t, and fairly quickly, their forbidden romance begins. Shadow knows better than to mess with the President’s daughter, but he’s drawn to her in a way he’s never been to anyone else. She’s light to his darkness…heaven to his hell, so even though shit will hit the fan when their secret comes out, it’s a risk they’re both willing to take.
But there are bigger things at play surrounding these two broken and damaged souls, and what’s thrown at them threatens to destroy what they’re trying to create, so when push comes to shove, the biggest question will be if Dani and Shadow are strong enough to see through all the darkness and bullshit to come out on the other side maybe battered and bruised but still together.
M.N. Forgy creates an interesting plotline and dynamic characters in her debut novel. What Doesn’t Destroy Us takes readers on a wild ride with the Devil’s Dust princess, Firefly, and her shadowed beauty/beast. There are twists and turns in the story that will have readers speculating how it will all turn out, and with the cliffhanger that we are left with, no one knows how Dani and Shadow’s story will end.

The Devil’s Dust MC has a list of new threats to the club’s lifestyle. Dani, to prove her loyalty, is trying to embrace a part of herself that she never knew existed until now. A sinful beast lurking beneath her surface has been awakened and is ready to eliminate anyone that stands in its way. Looking at her stained hands, she rinses the blood from them. She resigns herself to innocence lost and welcomes her thirst for more blood.
After a breathtaking turn of events, Shadow is looking at life in a different perspective. Not knowing who he can trust or who he can forgive has left him feeling desolate and alone. As Shadow is laying behind his rifle, he wonders if he can pull the trigger to eliminate the threat. He takes a deep breath and squeezes the trigger, the rifle recoil ignites the fuel that drives him.
