Gloria Long sells love and sex for a living as the CEO of lingerie front-runner Gloria’s Secret, but she has never experienced it firsthand – love that is. Traumatized by an ugly childhood with a non-parenting mother and a deadly encounter with a mobster that left her with a scar above her heart, Gloria is too closed off and too in need of total control to give herself the chance to feel the reckless emotions of love. Despite that fact, though, she feels an instant attraction/connection to Jaime Zander and the feeling is definitely mutual. Soon, their pull towards one another leads them to a series of mind-blowing, passionate encounters in some very unusual places;)

Despite Gloria’s head telling her she needs to put an end to her affair with Jaime, her body throbs for him, and he won’t let Gloria go until they are both satisfied. But like Gloria, Jaime’s past is a tortured one, and he has his own secrets. “Relax, Gloria,” he commanded. “Trust me.” But can Gloria trust Jaime? With Victor and Vivien’s connection to Jaime, as well as Vivien’s lust for Jaime and Victor’s lust for Gloria, it is a very tangled web to maneuver around. Add all of that to a past that still could rise up against her, and it leaves Gloria in a very precarious position. Readers will have to wait until book 2, Gloria’s Revenge, to see how/if Gloria can control all of these matters with both her career and heart intact.
This was my first book by Ms. L’Amour, and I can honestly say it will definitely not be my last. The book is beautifully written. Readers will not find over characterization or excessive internal dialogue that can sometimes be found in romance novels. No matter the scene, Ms. L’Amour writes it fluidly; the passionate sex scenes, endearing exchanges with friends, stealthy business transactions, and confrontational fits, all illustrate quite vividly Gloria’s life, so that as we read, we live vicariously through them as well.
This book is emotional, steamy, and incredibly well written, and fortunately, with Gloria’s Secret’s cliffhanger, you can head right in to Gloria’s Revenge because it just released!
