In Green Valley, Tennessee everybody knows everybody, but nobody knows Sabrina Logan.

Sabrina has been hiding in plain sight for years. Living her life inside of books, dutifully helping her family, and hoping no one will notice her. So far? Mission accomplished!

Yet when sexy—and distrustful—sheriff, Wyatt Monroe returns to town with his daughters, he definitely notices the quiet librarian everyone else overlooks. The single dad can’t seem to shake thoughts of shy Sabrina. Without quite understanding the impulse, Wyatt makes his mission finding her again, so he can . . . well, he’ll just have to reckon with that later.

What Wyatt discovers is a woman who trusts too easily, but who’s afraid to live. Trust doesn’t come easily to Wyatt. But living? That’s never been a problem.

And he’d sure like to show her how.

‘Crime and Periodicals’ is a full-length contemporary romantic comedy, can be read as a standalone, and is book#2 in the Green Valley Library series, Green Valley World, Penny Reid Book Universe.

My Review

I am loving the new author additions to Penny Reid’s worlds and book universe. I love that I get to meet new-to-me authors and reconnect with some of my favorite characters from one of my favorite authors.

Sabrina Logan is a heroine who many readers will find parts of their personalities in. We may not be as quiet or shy as Sabrina…we may not have as many anxiety issues or be responsible for someone on the autistic spectrum, but we’ve all felt overwhelmed…we’ve all had to give ourselves pep talks to overcome life’s circumstances.

And all of those reasons are why Sabrina is such an amazing character; because despite her overwhelming and self-conscious feelings, she still tries to live her life; she still takes care of her nephew, providing him a stable and loving environment. I loved her internal monologues and her passion for reading and books. and she is so deserving of a man like Wyatt.

Wyatt is the perfect guy for Sabrina; he’s just an all-around good guy who does right by those he loves and serves and protects, not only because it’s his job, but because it’s something he truly believes in. I love how sensitive he was to Sabrina’s shyness and the fact that he didn’t push her too hard or too fast at any point in his courtship of her.

I’ve seen mentioned in other reviews that Crime and Periodicals has a Hallmark Movie vibe, and I wholeheartedly agree with that assessment, but not in the cheesy romance sense, ya know. In the feel good sense, the butterflies in the belly and warm fuzzies in the heart sense. And the fact that Sabrina and Wyatt are such likable and endearing characters and they have amazing families at their backs make this one heartwarming read.

Excerpt

“Wow, he can dance,” I observed.

I gasped when Wyatt’s hand on my waist slid up my side then up the underside of my arm to take my hand from his shoulder and link our fingers together. It was just like in Dirty Dancing, except I was facing him instead of away like in the movie. His grin grew a little bit wicked right before he used both of my hands to turn me. His front was now at my back with our arms crossed in front of us.

I felt his warm, hard body behind mine and I felt…way too much. Tingles covered every square inch of me. The air felt different against my skin; I was burning up.

His chin dipped low to rest on my shoulder. “Are you okay?” he whispered into my ear. His breath ruffled the hair against my neck, and I shivered.

“Yes,” I whispered. Then I nodded in case he didn’t hear me. I felt his stubbled jaw graze the side of my face and I began to experience heretofore unknown feelings. My perception of what was possible for my life shifted. My brain had disengaged, and I floated along on pure sensation.

We rocked side to side like that—closer than I’d ever been to anyone in my life. His chest rose and fell against my back as his arms tightened around me and he sighed against my hair. The last of my conscious thoughts dissolved and I succumbed to pure feeling. His body moving against mine became my world. His hands in mine kept me tethered, lest I float away on this cloud of sensation that was gradually becoming overwhelming.

I had never felt anything like this. I never even thought feelings like this were possible in real life. In romance novels, sure. But to feel such contentment laced with giddiness right now was something I had not expected. Before I could succumb to the spreading tingles and dwindling brain power and embarrass myself, he raised our arms up high and twirled me around and around underneath them. I giggled and squealed. Apparently, I was that girl—a squealy, laughing, girly girl. But maybe we were all that girl in the right circumstance.

He was right. I did not need to know how to slow dance when I was with him. We danced close; so close his knee was between my legs. I delighted at the feel of his soft, warm skin when he placed one of my hands on the back of his neck. He moved his free hand low on my waist, hooking his thumb in my belt loop to guide me in slow, small circles over our spot on the dance floor, then back and forth using his hands to push me out and pull me back into his body. He coaxed me where I needed to go. I felt weightless and graceful.

The whole bar and everyone in it disappeared until it was just us dancing together, bathed in the moonlight filtering in through the high windows, and the little lights—so much like stars—illuminating the dance floor with their tiny rays. As the song ended, he spun me out and then back up against his body to dip me low with his arm wrapped tight around my waist. He grinned down at me with those gorgeous lips and beautiful chocolate brown eyes and I—I would never forget this moment—not ever.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW AND EXCERPT: Prose Before Bros by Cathy Yardley

Fans of swoony love stories with strong female leads putting alpha males in their place will adore this book!”- Katie Ashley, New York Times bestselling author

Prose Before Bros, an all-new opposites attract romance from Cathy Yardley, is available now!

20190718_GVL03_Pros Before Bros_Yardley_KDP_FINAL

Nothing about being a librarian prepared Thuy Nguyen for such a wide variety of casseroles. Or life in a small town. Or becoming a farmer.

But what can she do when her catastrophe-prone best friend begs her for help? After all, Maddy has always been there for Thuy. It’s time to return the favor.

It’s simple really, all she has to do is: learn everything about farming ASAP, save her BBF’s family business from disaster, and avoid being caught staring at Maddy’s biker brother, and his muscles, and his smile, and his soulful, sexy eyes.

Oh yeah, and she should definitely not fall in love with him.

Easy, right? . . . Right.

‘Prose Before Bros’ is a full-length contemporary romantic comedy, can be read as a standalone, and is book#3 in the Green Valley Library series, Green Valley World, Penny Reid Book Universe.

My Review

Prose Before Bros is the perfect name for Thuy and Drill’s story. Not only because she’s a librarian and Drill is her best friend’s brother, but it’s also due to the fact that Drill’s a member of the Iron Wraiths and his fellow MC brothers need him to step up for his club, for the only family he’s allowed to have since he patched in. The problem is, Drill’s real family – his sister – is back in Green Valley and needs her big brother, more now than ever…the problem is, he’s now forced to choose where his true loyalties lie – with his club or with his sister and the amazing woman he wants to make his.

As much as Thuy is most definitely not a small town girl, she goes where her best friend needs her, even if it’s to Maddy’s family farm in Green Valley, Tennessee. Not only is Thuy an intelligent, protective, and stubborn woman, she’s not afraid to go toe-to-toe with anyone who threatens the people she loves. And while she may seem like Drill’s opposite in every way, as the story continues, it becomes quite clear just how alike they are in all ways that truly matter.

I have to say…I didn’t expect the Iron Wraiths MC to play such an integral role in the storyline, but the further I read, the clearer it became as to how they intertwined with Maddy and Thuy’s plan to stay and run the farm and just how caught in the middle Drill is because of his connection to both sides.

Side note: I have quite the girl crush on Thuy; she is a total bada** and a nerd girl bookworm as well, which is absolutely fantastic!

4 Poison Apples

Excerpt

“Tell me: what kind of books do the men you sleep with read?”

She blinked. Not what she expected him to say. She felt herself smile, slowly. “It’s not like I have a required reading list,” she said, then paused. “Although now that you mention it, that’s not a bad idea.”

He chuckled. “Probably classics, or ‘literature’, or whatever smart people read,” he said, and there was a note of self-deprecation that somehow broke Thuy’s heart. She quickly shook her head.

“I don’t read a lot of lit fic — nothing too snobby,” she said. “I mean, I don’t just read literature or classics, although I appreciate them. I read lots of genre fiction, too. Romance, sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, thrillers. I think it’s important to read outside of your comfort zone: different authors, different experiences. I have comfort reads, too, but I… well, if you hadn’t guessed, I read all the time,” she finally said, as she realized she was rambling.

He was staring at her like she was something brand new, something he’d never experienced before. She felt embarrassed, and quickly finished her drink.

“You know,” he said, his voice tinged with amused surprise, “I don’t think I’m as passionate about anything as you are about books.”

She let out a half-laugh. “They are my favorite thing ever. They gave me a place to go when my life was shitty, and they have continually given me a reason to get out of bed in the morning. I read every single day. They’re my lifeline.”

“Now I envy you,” he said, and she got the feeling he wasn’t just bullshitting her — he sounded like he meant it. “What do you think a guy like me should read?”

She felt warmth, and it had nothing to do with the amaretto she’d consumed. This was the sort of challenge she loved. She scooted a little closer, so they could talk over the music without yelling. “What kind of movies do you like? What kind of stories?”

By the end of their talk, nearly two hours had gone by. She found out he liked adventure stories, and that he liked stories with justice and questionable heroes and things that had puzzles. She could think of several books, across several genres, and started to list them all.

“Whoa, whoa,” he said, holding up a hand. “I’m not going to be able to remember all of them. Which one of those is your favorite?”

She paused, thinking about it. “For a true book junkie,” she said slowly, “that’s like asking ‘which one is your favorite child?’ or ‘what appendage would you like to keep?’”

He laughed, and she smiled back at him.

“But, based on what you’ve told me,” she said, “I’d say The Name of the Wind, by Patrick Rothfuss.”

“Okay.” He nodded. “I’ll read it.”

She must’ve looked skeptical, because he chuckled.

“I mean it. I’ll give it a try.”

“It’s like seven hundred pages long,” she warned him.

His eyes widened, then he shrugged. “Okay, it may take a little while. But hell, I’m game.”

“Why?”

He was silent for a long moment, staring into her eyes. She squirmed as the heat from his gaze seemed to seep into her very bones.

“Do you really not know?” he asked, so matter-of-factly that she felt like an idiot.

He’s volunteering to read a book for you.

She felt heat suffuse her cheeks. That might be the single sexiest thing a guy had ever offered to do for her.

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up she’s at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She’s frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn’t ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood.

BLOG TOUR: Insatiable by Melanie Harlow

I didn’t mean to see him naked–it was an accident.

It had to be, right?

Because Noah McCormick and I have never been anything more than friends. In all the years I’ve known him, he’s never once laid a finger on me. And even though he was a cute lifeguard at 16 and a hotter-than-hell sheriff’s deputy at 34, he’s always been that protective guy I could trust to keep his hands to himself. I never wanted to mess with that.

Until I walked in on him getting out of the shower and saw his hard, muscular body totally bare and dripping wet. At that moment I never wanted to mess with anything so badly in my entire life.

I should have covered my eyes. Said I was sorry. At the very least, I could have handed him a towel.

After all, I was only in town for a few days, and he was just doing me a favor by escorting me to my sister’s wedding. It wasn’t a real date.

But I didn’t apologize. And he didn’t cover up.

(Talk about a hot mess.)

After all those years of being just friends, suddenly we’re insatiable.

He’s made it clear he’s not interested in romance. Which is fine with me because

I’ve got a plane ticket back to my real life at the end of the week.

It’s all in fun…or is it?

My Review

My favorite kind of romances are ones where the hero and the heroine already know each other, where they have a solid foundation of friendship and perhaps even a connection that both of thought about as something more than, but never took the chance to explore what they could have been.

Melanie Harlow’s newest hero and heroine, Meg Sawyer and Noah McCormick, share that kind of history and it’s clear that when she returns to town for her sister’s wedding that all those old feelings that they once felt for each other, but never admitted out loud, come rushing back…it also doesn’t hurt that Meg walks in on a very naked Noah and seizes the opportunity to have sex with a guy who hopefully won’t leave her feeling like their sexual experience was best described as potato salad.

Noah lives his life to protect and serve, not only as a police officer, but also as the man of the family, and he sees this role as all-important, so much so that he never truly thinks about what he wants and/or needs; it’s always about what everyone else needs and what he can do for them, which leaves him little time to even contemplate if he wants more than his life currently offers.

Because Meg is only visiting, the no-strings, non-relationship hook-ups she shares with Noah are fine by her, especially since her main focus and priority has always been her career, but when their insatiable desire for one another turns into something more, something Meg wouldn’t mind keeping, that’s when things get dicey and when crossing that ‘just friends’ line’ may be the end of everything they’ve shared.

I wasn’t surprised that Meg’s feelings for Noah grew exponentially after they were intimate, especially given the fact that he made her body light up with his more than stellar sexual prowess. Noah’s reasons for keeping everything light and easy with Meg, not making any promises or offering anything beyond a good time are more complex than I thought they would be and Melanie Harlow does a great job exploring those reasons and forcing Noah to face the truth.

Harlow’s Cloverleigh Farms series is all about family, friendship, and second chances, and Noah and Meg’s story definitely focuses on three while also creating some super sexy encounters as well as laughable and memory making moments.

Sawyer?” I said in disbelief.

Breaking into a huge grin, she started to run.

I was still standing there in shock when she barreled into me, throwing her arms around my neck. She smelled fucking fantastic. Feminine, sweet, delectable.

“What are you doing here?” I asked, trying to hug her back without getting sweat or paint on her. “I thought you didn’t get in until Thursday.”

“I changed my ticket.” She let go just enough to smile up at me impishly. “I’m glad to see you too.”

I laughed. “I’m glad to see you. You just surprised me is all.”

“That was my plan.” She stepped back, and I figured my odor was probably repulsing her.

“I stink, sorry. I went for a run earlier and I never showered. Then I painted the garage.”

“I never mind the smell of sweat. It means hard work.” She brightened. “Will you run tomorrow? I’d love to go with you.

“Sure. We can run tomorrow. I’m off again.”

“Great! Although I’m probably way out of shape.” She made a face. “My work schedule is so crazy, I don’t run as much as I used to.”

“You look great,” I told her. And it was true—she did look great. Maybe not quite as skinny as the last time I’d seen her, but the added curves looked good on her. My eyes wandered without my brain’s permission to her slightly fuller chest and rounder hips. Quickly, I attempted to look at her face again, but then my gaze lingered on her mouth. I remembered what it had looked like the other night in my fantasy as she’d wrapped her lips around my cock and moaned like it was the best thing she’d ever tasted.

My dick twitched beneath my running shorts, and I cleared my throat. “You’ve got a favorite murder? Is there something I need to know?”

She glanced down at her shirt and smiled. “It’s a podcast about true crime. I’m addicted.”

“Never heard of it.”

A sound of exasperation escaped her. “You live under a rock! I can’t believe you’re still not on social media.”

“Yes, you can.”

“Okay, I can, but it makes it really hard to stalk you.”

I shook my head. “People like you are exactly why I don’t want to be on social media.”

She hit me on the shoulder. “I’m kidding! I just want to keep up with your life. I miss you.”

“So come home more often. Talk to my face.”

She grinned. “I do like seeing your face. Want to go grab a beer? Maybe some food?”

“Sure.”

RELEASE BLITZ: HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS by R.S. Grey

R.S. Grey’s next romantic comedy, HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, is available today! Find out more below and grab your copy now!

About HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS

I’ve spent eight years wishing I’d fall out of love with Derek Knightley. Blowing out birthday candles, chasing after shooting stars, making it rain spare change into mall fountains—every time it’s the same wish: forget about Derek.

But the day he walks back into my life, I realize there are two things time has yet to soften: my feelings for him and his chiseled jawline.

It’s infuriating that my heart still races when he walks into a room. I refuse to fall prey to old unrequited love, so I decide the less I’m around him, the better. Avoidance is key.

Unfortunately, Derek isn’t going to make it easy. As a teenager, I would have crawled on my hands and knees to attract his attention. Now I can’t seem to escape it.

I’m not sure why he’s bothering. He’s not just out of my league—he’s out of my tax bracket. As the sole heir to the Knightley Company, he’s as close to American royalty as you can get. As for me, I’m just a part-time princess at Knightley’s flagship magical theme park.

I spend my days playing make-believe, but Derek has no use for fairytales. His unwavering confidence makes it clear he thinks I’ll surrender in the end.

He’s just biding his time.

Making me sweat.

His Royal Highness always gets what he wants.

And he wants me.

My Review

Unrequited love…it’s definitely something that most people feel at some point during their teenage years, and for R.S. Grey’s newest heroine, Whitney Atwood, her time came at the age of 18; her one-sided feelings for Derek Knightley, a guy 10 years her senior, was something she wished she never felt and never struggled to get over because from their very first interaction when Derek becomes Whitney’s mentor at Fairytale Kingdom, she knows she doesn’t stand a chance with him because he’s about as far out of her league as any one person could be. But as the old saying goes, the heart wants what the heart wants, Whitney’s crush never fully dissipates, not after Derek leaves and his gone for 8 years and not after he returns and begins to show interest in the 26 year old version of her either.

The way that R.S. Grey sets up His Royal Highness: the backdrop of the amusement park meant to be magical days for those who visit; the unique circumstances that Whitney finds herself in when she first begins working for the Knightley Fairytale Kingdom and the subsequent years that follow; the way that Grey crafts both Whitney and Derek’s characters so that it’s clear just how much chemistry they have, despite their age difference, and just how deserving they both are to have their fairy tale endings come true.

There’s a freshness to R.S. Grey’s storytelling; even when some of her plot points appear to utilize the traditional components of the tropes she blends together, she always adds her own flair to what would be predictable scenes in any other romance story and that originality stems from the wit and humor that she infuses into the pages of her books and it is built up slowly, demonstrating just how much push and pull is between the hero and heroine and how good it could truly be if they took a leap of faith and trusted that, for once, it would all end up exactly how it was meant to be.

R.S. Grey’s newest release uses a unique setting for its backdrop and with the environment she creates, it allows the magic of the amusement park to merge with the reality of her characters’ lives, allowing readers the opportunity to make a wish upon a star and hope that it all comes true for our fair maiden and the man who has always been her prince charming, even when it didn’t know he was.

“How would that even work, Keller? Because I like you. I like you more than I should. And maybe you’re just playing with me. Maybe you just really like kittens. Maybe I’m simply an adorable diversion while you’re in town filming this contest. Maybe you’re not Reindeer Falls material.”

The thought of him not being Reindeer Falls material nearly breaks my heart and I haven’t even fully given it to him yet.

“What exactly does that mean, Ginger?”

“It means you’re leaving soon.” I say it softly.

We’re still standing close together, and I realize he has one hand on my back, caressing me as if encouraging me to get it all out.

“It means you might find Reindeer Falls really charming in December and be bored silly with it by January. Or it could mean that you’re just a jerk who travels from town to town seducing women for their best recipes and then leaving them behind brokenhearted. Also, you’re British. Are you even allowed to stay? What if the Queen wants you back? You probably make excellent biscuits. The Food Network gave you a television show with the word ‘biscuits’ in the title, which surely means you’re good at making them.”

There. I think that was the gist of my concerns. Keller nods his head slowly, seemingly taking all of that into consideration.

“Well. I suppose any of those things could happen,” he agrees, which is the best sort of comfort, isn’t it? No one wants to hear that their fears are too crazy to be validated. “But what if they don’t?” he suggests, dipping his head to mine again.

Blurb

A faceless name.
That’s all she was when I agreed to play a part in deceiving her.
And then the unexpected happened.

We met.

I yearn for her skin against mine.
I crave her scent on my body.
I want to make her laugh and then moan.
And I do… in secret.

I promised my business partner I wouldn’t touch his sister.
But I broke that promise.

Our little dirty weekends together are no longer enough.
I want my bohemian girl in my bed every night.
She wants a ring, marriage vows, and babies
… all things that I can’t give her.

Our romance is explosive.
Our love, epic.
Our ending, miserable… unless I bend.

If I don’t bend, I’ll break.
