We couldn’t agree on anything. So Levi made me a proposal. One he thought I would surely lose. If I could sell out the place by the time he had to leave for training at the end of summer, he would back off and let me run it.
But in the weeks that followed, we got more than we bargained for while we were living under the same roof.
Levi and I got closer, and before I knew it, my nightly fantasies about the brawny Adonis became a reality. Not to mention, he was so great with my son.
We were in over our heads in more ways than one.

My Review

Well Played is an enemies-to-lovers, single-parent, small town, sports romance that is both heavy on the steam and the swoon with the added angst that Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward create in each and every story line.

The point of contention and what makes anything substantial happening between the hero and heroine, Levi Miller and Presley Sullivan, almost impossible is what the forbidden aspect of the story line creates. To me, though, it’s not the fact that Presley is Levi’s brother’s ex…that relationship has been over for more than 5 years…the bigger issue is that Levi is Presley’s son’s uncle and Levi seems to have a much different interpretation of what went down between Presley and his brother than what actually happened.

Miscommunication and misunderstandings that lead to conflict really frustrate me, so there were times as I was reading that I wanted to shake a few of the characters and yell at others to stand up for themselves. I just don’t get how oblivious people can be, at times, and it’s difficult for me to understand how they’re so willing to allow others to interfere in what’s supposed to be just about them, but I also know that sometimes there is just no easy way to separate oneself from those other important people in their lives.

I enjoyed Levi and Presley’s story. Their chemistry and attraction is off-the-charts and even the knowledge of Presley’s past with Levi’s brother doesn’t prevent them from developing something worth fighting for…the only problem is that outside people, particularly family members, aren’t keen on these two having any kind of future together, which means their meddling just might cost Levi and Presley what they most want and even need – each other.
