In One to Hold, Patrick Knight is Derek’s sexy business partner. Readers don’t see much of Patrick in the first text, but we do see the connection that he has with Elaine for the week they are all together in Arizona, but what happened after their sizzling week in Arizona’s dry heated nights? Thankfully, we aren’t left to speculate. Tia Louise lets us see firsthand where Patrick and Elaine’s relationship goes after they return to their normal lives many hours away from each other.
One to Hold is told completely through Patrick’s point of view. His life before Elaine has left him bitter and unwilling to open his heart again because of his cheating ex-fiancée. With his good guy demeanor gone, Patrick is only looking for hook ups and nothing more, but he doesn’t realize that his new outlook on life comes with its own mishaps. After a rebound romp with a young tattoo artist, who actually ends up becoming a great friend, Patrick makes the mistake of “dipping his wick” where Derek explicitly told him not to – in the office. What happens next is a cross between fatal attraction and revenge. Feeling like he doesn’t have a choice, he tells Derek what happened at work, and Derek proceeds to send him to Arizona to get some distance from his indiscretion and wrangle some clients as well.
This is where his life after Stacy begins…all because of a beautiful, sexy middle school English teacher – Elaine. Their feelings intensify quickly – so much so that Patrick wants to say the “L” word to her, but he knows it is too soon and he doesn’t want to scare her off.

Sometimes a “fixed” person, though, still makes mistakes, and Elaine is left to consider if what she has with Patrick is worth fighting for despite a lack of complete honesty on his part. But as the old saying goes, anything worth having doesn’t come easy….sometimes it takes a little “bubblegum” 😉
One to Keep is a hot and sexy read; it is a great companion novel to One to Hold. I love the fact that readers now have a complete picture of the two Arizona couples. We even get to learn a bit more about how Derek felt as he was keeping tabs on Melissa and her ex-husband while trying to figure out how to win her back. I also liked how it wasn’t as heavy as Derek and Melissa’s story. Don’t get me wrong, Patrick and Elaine’s tale has plenty of angst and drama but it is on a different scale. The best part of their relationship is that they are willing to step out of their comfort zones, especially when it comes to sex, which really steps up the steam and makes them even closer as a couple.
Both One to Hold and One to Keep were fantastic reads. Tia Louise is a great storyteller, and she excels in telling stories from both the hero and the heroine’s point of view. I can’t wait to see what is coming up next for her! Well done!
