Love Suicide Blog Tour
Feb 28-March 5th 2014
Synopsis:
My heart belonged to Branch and Brooks Valentine since we were children, when we were all too naïve to know what that even meant. We didn’t understand that when we became adults, love would change us. I had to make a choice and when I did, it ripped our bond apart. Brooks left town, and he took half of my heart with him. It was difficult, but I coped and planned my future with Branch. I thought I’d made the right decision. I loved him and I always had.
Brooks showed up to be our best man the night before our nuptials. After drinks and too much reminiscing, I ended up in bed with the wrong brother. To avoid the humiliation and the fact that I’d ruined all of our lives, I left Branch and the only family I’d ever known.
That’s where my story should have ended.
Two years, one beautiful little girl and an abusive marriage later, I was standing there staring at the man that would always hold my heart.
The only question was…
Would I give it to him
I’m Katy Michaels and this is my story.

Review

Brooks Valentine…even the name sounds hot! And the man…there are no words to do him justice. It has always been him for Katy…even when she is with his twin brother, Branch, and even when she thinks she destroys any love he’s ever felt for her with bad decision after bad decision.
Katy and the Valentine brothers grew up together, and when her parents tragically died during the September 11th terrorist attacks, she lived with them until all three graduated from school. Through the years, it was always the three of them…until it was the two of them – Katy and Branch. Branch took the risk and told Katy how he felt about her while Brooks kept his feelings for her a secret, and instead of treating her like the girl he loved, he picked on her and distanced himself from her because he couldn’t stand to see Katy with his brother. But a love like Katy and Brooks’ cannot be denied, and when they finally give into their feelings, nothing will ever be the same again for all those involved.
Katy Michaels is a heartbreakingly beautiful heroine. The trials and tribulations that she goes through in her young life, starting with the death of her parents, could bring anyone to their knees, but she keeps fighting…she keeps moving forward because she knows she doesn’t have any other choice. Her guilt over the choices she’s made and the lives that she believes she’s ruined makes her run away, but Brooks is never far from her mind or her heart. Jennifer Foor does an amazing job at showing how torn up Katy is over everything, and it almost seems like Katy settling is her punishment to herself for those mistakes. The growth Katy experiences towards the end of the story illustrates that she’s finally accepted what has happened and has let it go…for herself, for Brooks, and for her family.
Brooks Valentine is an amazing man…his actions when he was younger definitely made me want to knock him up the side of the head, but since he left home and became a soldier, he’s grown up into a passionate man who is not afraid to say what he feels for Katy. I think the letters they exchange are beautiful, and it was a great decision to actually show them in the story rather than have them explained by the characters. Brooks’ willingness to stand by Katy through everything is a true testament to their love as well as the type of man Brooks is, and let me just tell you, you are going to melt when you see him interact with his little girl…those scenes are truly beautiful.
This is quite different than Jennifer Foor’s other series, and I can’t wait to read more like it. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Mitchell and Kin Series; they are full of angst and steam, but Love’s Suicide is so much more than a story…it’s an experience of loss, deceit, miscommunication, and forgiveness…but at the heart of the story, readers truly understand that truly love never dies…it just has to find the perfect time to LIVE!
