RELEASE DAY REVIEW: Beautiful Broken Promises by Kimberly Lauren

brokenn

THIS IS A total STAND-ALONE NOVEL. No need to read the first two books in the series to enjoy this book. This is not a dark romance.

Every day you stay gone
I die a thousand more deaths

Lane Parker has secrets he hasn’t even told his closest friends. He may have earned their respect but it’s undeserved. He may seem genuine but he’s a total fraud. He may look strong, but on the inside he’s weak and drowning with no chance of catching his breath any time soon.

After four years, Lane finally gets the call he’s been waiting for. Given back a piece of the life he’s been fighting so hard to reclaim, will he be able to handle everything that comes along with it? And if so, can all of his broken promises be redeemed?

So, I don’t give up and I won’t let them win
I will find you and I will make sure that you know
You’re my everything

New Adult Contemporary Romance: strong language and sexual content. This novel is intended for those 18 years and older.

Review

I loved the first book in Kimberly Lauren’s Broken Series; in fact, it was one of my top reads of 2013. When book 2 came out, I bought it and had every intention of reading it, but time just got away from me. When Kimberly put the message out to bloggers about reading and reviewing book three, Beautiful Broken Promises, for release day, I jumped at the chance, and I’m so glad I did. Lane’s story is the best in the series, which is a huge thing for me to say since I adored Beautiful Broken Rules. It is so different from the first book; the characters are no longer in college and the challenges they face are more intense. It’s an emotional read that had me at the Prologue and didn’t let me go until I was finished. It is one of my favorites of 2014!

Readers met Lane Parker as Audrey’s best friend in Beautiful Broken Mess, but not much is known about him since he’s a secondary character. When Beautiful Broken Promises begins, readers are given a clearer picture of this broken man, and it’s quite different from the one all of his friends believe him to be. The man who appears to have it all together is secretly dying inside, searching for something that’s been missing for years. No one truly knows what he’s been through and continues to endure, but when they do find out, both readers and his friends will truly understand what has made Lane the man he is.

This is a difficult review to write because so much of the story revolves around Lane’s secret, and I don’t want to say what it is because it’s something that needs to be experienced while reading. What I can say is that learning what happened to Lane all those years ago and watching the truth slowly unravel as each new clue is revealed makes for one hell of a read.

I love Lane. He’s definitely an alpha male. He protects what’s his at all costs, which is why the last four years have been hell for him. He made promises that he believes he went back on, and he won’t stop until he can rectify his mistakes. Lane’s life changes dramatically as the story progresses, and Kimberly does a fantastic job of illustrating his growth and healing. The heroine, Rae, is absolutely fantastic. There is not one thing about her that will turn readers off. She’s loyal, compassionate, and strong. What she sacrifices to protect those she loves will blow readers away. She’s perfectly written because it would take the kind of person she is to get past all that she endures.

Beautiful Broken Promises is an amazing book that all romance readers HAVE TO experience. It has the perfect blend of suspense, drama, and steam. Because it’s told in dual point of views, all aspects of the story are revealed. Both Lane and Rae come at the story’s complications from different sides, so it’s important to understand what’s going through both of their minds as the puzzle pieces start falling into place.

Lane and Rae’s story is one of perseverance and redemption, and I highly recommend it!

About this Author

I’m a wanderer, an adventurer, a traveler.

I want to see it all. I haven’t been everywhere but it’s on my list.

“She travels the world & home is always in her heart.”

Lately if I’m not traveling or chasing a toddler, I’m writing. Which is weird because I hated writing in college. Oh wait, that’s because that was boring. Who really wants to sit there and cite all your sources into APA format? Not this girl. Writing for yourself is enjoyable and cathartic. Please try it. Then tell me about because I love indie authors.

I’m a Texas girl, who misses living in Europe!

Hope you enjoy my books! xoxo KL
