Synopsis
There’s a new beautiful player in town…
Blake Burns, the sexy head of SIN-TV, who goes through women like some go through water. Until he meets Jennifer McCoy, his outspoken new assistant and development executive.
Newly engaged Jennifer has no idea that her devastating new boss is the man she kissed, blindfolded, in a game of Truth or Dare. That kiss, that man, that beautiful stranger she cannot forget.
Blake hasn’t been able to stop thinking about that kiss either…and he’ll do anything to win Jennifer —even if it means being a beautiful bastard and breaking all the rules.
Review
I adore Nelle L’Amour’s writing. She’s such a skillful writer; she creates flawed heroes who on the surface are nothing but cocky man whores, but then as the story continues, Nelle slowly goes underneath those imperfections and presents a man who will stop at nothing to claim the woman he wants and may perhaps even love. Blake Burns, the hero in That Man, is such a character. He’s a man who doesn’t ask for the things that he wants; he just takes them without concern for the after effects. His life, up until this point, has focused on running SIN-TV and living his own version of sin with a plethora of sexual conquests. He’s never looked to the future or thought of himself as a one woman man, but all of that changes when a blindfolded beauty kisses him.
Jennifer McCoy has never been kissed like she is by “that man.” The kiss consumes her long after it’s finished, and she doesn’t even know who she kissed, and even though, she’s “happily” engaged, she replays that one kiss in her mind more times than she probably should. Unbeknownst to Jennifer, as she begins her new job, she comes face to face with “that man,” and even though she doesn’t recognize him, Blake Burns knows exactly who’s standing in front of him – the woman who has starred in his sexual releases since their kiss. Both Blake and Jennifer fight their mutual attraction because she’s not a free woman, but if “Operation Dickwick” is successful, he’ll soon have her in his bed as much as she’s already in his head.
This is the second series I’ve read by Nelle L’Amour. The main characters in Gloria’s Secret, Gloria and Jaime, are two of my absolute favorite because they are both such complicated characters…I have to say Jennifer and Blake are just as fantastic. Nelle’s heroines are feisty and strong willed; they are driven to succeed and don’t let their emotions get the best of them, and Jennifer fits this description. I love Jennifer; she works in a business that is dominated by men, and while it may not be her first choice, she makes sure her voice is heard, and she thinks of some kickass ideas to help revitalize the network’s morning lineup.
That Man has everything readers could want; it’s a funny and sexy read that will have them rooting for Blake, despite his cocky attitude and Jennifer’s dentist fiancé. The story is told in both Blake and Jennifer’s point of views, so every thought and emotion felt is transparently offered to Nelle’s audience. Nelle is phenomenal at writing in the male point of view – Blake comes off as an arrogant S.O.B., which is exactly what he is, but by giving readers a firsthand look at his thoughts and feelings, we recognize that there’s definitely more to Blake than his sexual prowess and domineering nature. Another aspect of Nelle’s writing that is always spot on is her use of description. Through her descriptive word choice, Nelle provides details of the places her characters are, which allows her readers to feel like they are actually right there with them.
I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Blake and Jennifer in books two and three. I’m hoping that “that man” will become Jennifer’s man because her fiancé is more than lacking and Blake can give her everything she craves and deserves.

“Mr. Burns?” A sweet voice at my doorway diverted my attention, and I looked up from the screen. In tandem, my eyes blinked, my body jerked, and my cock flexed. Subtly for her not to notice.
Though her neat auburn bun, prim tweed suit, and tortoiseshell glasses made her look like some bookworm who should be working at a corporate law office, I swear I’d recognize that face anywhere—with its dewy-skin complexion, delicate bone structure, and those expressive, turned-up lips. Someone pinch me. I must be dreaming. But there she was. That girl I’d kissed last night. In fact, her lips were still swollen. Holy fucking shit!
“Hi, I’m Jennifer McCoy.”
It took several long moments for my brain to communicate with my mouth. I cleared my throat and licked my lips. “Please come in and take a seat.”
Unlike last night when she was blindfolded and took short hesitant steps, she strode into my office with a strong confident gait and lowered herself onto one of the two armchairs facing me. She placed her shoulder bag and briefcase on the floor and crossed her shapely, long legs. I had the burning urge to uncross them.
“So, Ms. McCoy—”
“You can call me Jennifer.”
Okay, let’s start over. “So, Jen-ni-fer, you come highly recommended by my boss, Saul Bernstein.” God, I loved saying her name. It sucked the air out of my lungs.
She flashed a small smile. Two little dimples winked at her kissable lips. My cock twitched and I continued.
“However, I’m not sure why someone with a passion for children’s television would want to work for a porn channel.”
Without flinching, she held my gaze steady. “Adults are no different than children. They need to be entertained. ”
That was a fact. And that’s why we referred to our network and programming as “adult entertainment.” I wasn’t done testing her. Or studying her—especially her eyes. Her blindfold had hidden them from me last night, and after she’d disappeared, I kept imagining what they looked like. I thought they might be brown or blue and deep-set. But they were wide-set and green—the greenest eyes I’d ever seen on a human being. When she blinked, it was if they were two leaves fluttering in the wind. I caught my breath.
“Well, it’s one thing to tell a producer of a cartoon that he—”
“Or she,” she interrupted.
“Or she needs to make the shaggy dog bark louder, but it’s another to tell the producer of a porn flick that his female star who’s being shagged needs to scream louder.”
“Not a problem,” she said flatly.
“Well, then, let’s pretend I’m the producer, and I’m not quite sure what you want. Can you please demonstrate?”
“Sure.” She cleared her throat and then took off her glasses, setting them on my desk. Fuck. Her eyes were beautiful.
My gaze stayed fixed on them as she flung her head back, and a look of torturous pleasure washed over her face. It was identical to the expression on her face last night as I held her head back and fucked her mouth with my tongue. She squeezed her eyes shut.
“Oh, baby, yes! Make me come! Oh God! Oh, yes, Yes, YES!” Each breathy “yes” was louder than the one before, the last one a roar so loud I thought the whole office would hear her. Holy shit. This girl was a fucking tiger. Beneath my desk, my cock was applauding. Was this how Ms. McCoy, M.A., came, or was she just a great actress? If the latter, this girl should be starring in porn flicks not giving script notes.
“Was that loud and clear enough?” she asked matter-of-factly, staring me in the face. A slight blush colored her cheeks.
I felt heated. Flushed and flustered. And I could feel my cock uncomfortably strain against my fly. Fuck this girl. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to work with her, but I had no choice.

With a satisfied smirk, he lifted me up against the upholstered wall and growled, “Now wrap your arms and legs around me.”
He was my boss. Still in my stilettos, I did as he asked. I held my breath as he nudged the crown of his hot cock into my center. We were perfectly lined up. Slowly, he slid it inside me, stretching me, until he filled me to the hilt. My fingernails dug into the fabric of his jacket, and I winced with sweet pain. Holy shit! I thought he was going to split me open.
“Am I hurting you?”
“No,” I said as my muscles relaxed and got used to his size.
“Christ, tiger, you’re so tight and wet. I want to fuck you so badly.” His eyes burned into mine. “I’m going to show you what it’s like to be fucked and by a man who knows how.”
I absorbed his words, absorbed his girth. He was so different from Bradley. So hot, so full, so big. So divine! Gripping my bottom, he began to pound into me. I clung to his biceps and tugged at his hair, unable to suppress my moans. My hips rocked with his. I knew I should be thinking about the consequences of my actions, but any logical thought at the moment was impossible.
“Do you like this?” he breathed.
“Yes.” Oh yes!
Good girl, bad girl. It no longer mattered. With each forceful thrust, he was pushing me over the edge. Creating exquisite sensations inside me I’d never experienced before. A pressure, so electrifying, so intense I was seeing stars of Bethlehem.
“Do you want to come?”
“Yes. Oh please, yes! Yes, yes, YES! I fisted the lapels of his velvet blazer.
He pumped harder, faster, rubbing against my clit with each unrelenting stroke. His breaths came in pants. My own pants gave way to whimpers. I was desperately craving a release.
“Don’t hold back,” he growled between gritted teeth. “I want to hear you roar, tiger. The room is soundproof.”
All it took was a squeeze of my clit. “Come for Santa,” he breathed into my mouth.
With a roar of his name so loud it echoed, I imploded. Tears leaked from my eyes as fierce waves of ecstasy swept through my body. A moment later, he let out his own primal roar. His hot pulsing cock exploded inside me, soaking me with his release, as I shuddered around him.
Through the speakers, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” piped into the chamber. Spent, Blake rested his glistening sweat-laced forehead against mine as I clung to him. His breathing calmed. I was still shuddering and sobbing softly.
“Merry Christmas, tiger,” Blake whispered in my ear.
“Merry Christmas.”
Christmas had come early.

~
Blake and Jennifer finally succumb to their passion and are unable to get enough of one another. A shocking discovery, however, threatens to pull them apart. And danger looms.
Will the two of them survive an outside force that promises to bring their love to a cruel and tragic end ?
AN EXCERPT: Blake is up to his shenanigans, but there’s so much more!
“Blake! What are you doing here?” she gasped as I made my way to her bed after kicking shut the door and locking it.
“What does it look like? I’m getting into bed with you,” I responded, squeezing into her tiny twin bed before she had a chance to notice my hard on. I snuggled next to her. Man, this bed was barely big enough for one person, let alone two.
“You can’t sleep here! What if my parents come in?”
“They won’t, and besides, I’ve locked the door.”
“What if I still say no? Are you going to fuck me into submission?”
My cock flexed and a cocky smile curled on my lips. “That’s Plan B.”
Her eyes widened. “What’s Plan A?”
One of my hands came up from under the cover. In it was a small gift box wrapped in hot pink paper and topped off with a small silver bow. I had kept it hidden behind my back when I’d crept into her room.
“What’s that?”
“It’s just a small Christmas present.”
A combination of guilt and curiosity flickered in her green-as-a-Christmas-tree eyes. “You’re making me feel bad. I don’t have anything else to give you. I mean , I didn’t know—”
I cut her off. “Don’t worry, you’ll be giving me what I wished for on Christmas shortly. Now, open it up.”
“It’s from Gloria’s Secret,” she commented, noticing the famous GS logo on the paper. “Is it some sexy piece of lingerie?”
While that would have been a fine gift too, one I would have bit off her sweet ass, this one was way more creative. And it was going to be way more fun.
“No. Just open it.” She was making my cock twitch with anticipation. I watched as she carefully tore off the wrapping. She stared blankly at the package. “What is this, Blake?”
“It’s a toy. You can’t have Christmas without getting a toy.”
“My Secret Vibrating Egg?”
“It’s a sex toy. You’re going to love playing with it. Open the package.”
She fumbled getting the box opened. I think I already had her aroused.
She lifted the sparkly little pink egg out of the carton and examined it.
“I was almost going to get you a regular vibrator, but then I remembered how much you seemed to enjoy eggs when we had breakfast together at the beach.”
“I do love eggs.” She smiled sheepishly, still studying the toy. “How do you use this?”
My face lit up and my cock stirred. The fun was about to begin.
Review
That man is infuriating. That man is cocky. That man is demanding. That man is Blake Burns, and for the past two books, readers have watched him fight his feelings for Jennifer McCoy, make strides to make Jen his, and dig himself into hole after hole by his words and actions. With a man like Blake, nothing is ever easy, and at the beginning of Book 3, he has his work cut out for him, especially when he and Jen go in different directions for Christmas. Blake is trying to give his tiger what she asked for – space and a professional relationship only, but he knows deep down, they both want more, so the man who willingly takes risks in his professional life heads to Jennifer’s hometown to claim his girl. What follows their reunion are some amazing scenes where Blake and Jen profess their love through heartfelt words and passionate acts. These were the scenes I was waiting for…after all of the sexual tension, they finally give in to their feelings and see themselves as a couple. But readers know that that man didn’t walk the straight and narrow when it came to getting Jen away from dickwick, and those acts come back to haunt him in a big way. So what is that man to do when what he really wants is to be Jen’s man but their relationship of full disclosure has been fractured by his actions? Knowing Blake, he’ll do just about anything to get his tiger back even if it means placing his heart and his life on the line.
Ever since I finished That Man 2, I have been not so patiently waiting to see how everything plays out between Blake and Jen, and just like with every other book I’ve read by Nelle L’Amour, she does not disappoint. Blake’s transformation from playboy to one woman man does not happen overnight, which is just one of the aspects I loved about this series. Regardless of how deeply Blake feels about Jen, he knows he needs to prove himself not only to her but himself as well, and it was great to watch him acknowledge that his heart doesn’t just pump blood to his cock;) I can’t blame Jen for her hesitancy when it comes to starting a relationship with Blake. She just called off her wedding after realizing her fiancé was cheating on her; no way should she rush into anything with Blake. But at the same time, her feelings for him are intense and sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants, and it got to the point where she couldn’t deny her need for Blake any longer.
The slow burn of Blake and Jen’s relationship comes to a head in Book 3, and Nelle does a fantastic job of bringing everything together. All of the loose ends in the previous books are given closure in a way that will keep readers on edge as well as feeling hot and bothered. The action and steam are spread throughout the entire text, which makes it quite the page turner. Another aspect of the series I love is the crossover from Nelle’s Gloria’s Secret series. Gloria and Jaime are my absolute favorite Nelle characters and to include them into this series makes it that much better. That Man 3 has everything erotica romance readers look for in a book; it has well developed characters, witty dialogue, and a storyline that moves at a pace that will keep readers’ interest, and it also has some really scorching sex scenes.
Nelle L’Amour has been one of my go to erotica authors since I read Gloria’s Secret, and if her That Man series is any indication of where her writing is headed, she’ll be one of my top authors for as long as she keeps writing.

Excerpt
Blake, always full of surprises, had one more in store for me before the New Year dawned. The Jacuzzi. Big enough to accommodate a dozen people, it was built into an expansive deck outside the house.
Our bare bodies buried in the bubbly water, Blake sat close to me. One strapping arm curled around my shoulders while the hand of the other held a lit cigar. The stars and the full moon sparkled overhead in the blackened sky. The steamy water gurgled while Céline Dion piped through hidden speakers, and in the near distance, I could hear the waves of the ocean softly ebb and flow. The intense warm jets of water sprayed my upper back and between my thighs, feeling so tingly good. I was in love, lust, and paradise. It couldn’t get more magical than this.
“Tiger, do you mind if I smoke this cigar?” Blake asked, already blowing out a puff of smoke. “It’s kind of a New Year’s tradition.”
I inhaled. The smell of the tobacco mixing with the salty sea air was heady. To my surprise, I loved it. I took the cigar from him and put it to my mouth. I inhaled and choked.
“No problem,” I coughed out, reaching for my flute of champagne. I took a calming sip.
“Stop showing off,” he laughed, taking the cigar back in his hand. He inhaled another puff and I glared at him. Mesmerized by the way he held the cigar between his long fingers and sucked on the tip, drawing in his cheeks and lowering his eyes. Equally sexy was the way he pursed his kissable lips and blew out the smoke.
“You know, baby. My father once told me a fine cigar is like a fine woman. You have to warm her before you assault her.”
His words made my heart flutter. “Blake, when was the first time you knew you loved me?” I asked as a ring of smoke mingled with the steam from the Jacuzzi.
He placed the cigar on a close by ashtray and turned to face me. His eyes glinted in the moonlight. Damn he was beautiful. And oh so sexy. He twirled my damp ponytail with his hand.
“It could have been love at first sight. When you kissed me blindfolded at my club. Something changed in me. Then after the Springer thing, I knew if something happened to you, I couldn’t live. You’re my air, baby. I need you to breathe.”
A trail of sparks blazed through my body. He loved me right from the beginning. He repeated my question.
Tracing his soft lips, I said, “Vegas. When I danced with you.” Ironically, a Céline Dion version of “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” the song we danced to, was piping through the hidden speakers. Maybe he’d intentionally programmed it. I shifted a little and the powerful jet beneath me stimulated my clit.
He tugged at my ponytail. “It took you that long?” His voice was playfully miffed.
I twisted a smile. No, it hadn’t. The truth: I think I’d loved him the minute my mouth set down on his in that game of Truth or Dare too. I’d felt the earth move in my heart. Maybe it was lust. It didn’t matter because I wasn’t going to tell him.
We imbibed some champagne and glanced up at the starry sky. My head rested on his rugged chest.
“Jennifer, do you know why the moon and the stars shine?”
I shook my head. The words of the beautiful song were affecting me. The jets were affecting me. He was affecting me. Desire was bubbling inside me. “Why?”
Because they’re making love to the sky.”
“Lighting it up,” I replied dreamily, my eyes focused on the many constellations above us.
He drew me closer. Passion sparked in his eyes. “Jennifer McCoy, you are my moon and shining star. My universe.”
In a breath, I was sitting on top of him. Riding him to the heavens. Lighting him up. Lighting myself up.
We came together like comets flaring and whispered, in unison, three celestial words.
“I love you.”

Author Interview
1. Where did the idea of the That Man seris come from? Believe it or not, it came from my own life experience. I was with my hubs and my step- children in a fondue restaurant in Geneva and we played a game of Truth or Dare. They dared me to kiss this adorable guy across the room. And I did!!!!!
2. How do you balance being a mom/wife/friend and a writer? LOL! Becky, I don’t. I have no balance in my life at the moment and I’m not happy about it. I feel like I work 24/7. Despite my hubby’s busy schedule, he’s picked up a lot of the mommy slack. My girls are not too thrilled with me, and I terribly miss seeing my girlfriends. Moreover, I used to be in great shape, work out a lot, and I don’t do that either. I’m trying to figure out how to restore balance. Any suggestions??
3. If you could have dinner with any fictional character, who would you choose? Rhett Butler, from Gone with the Wind. The first alpha book boyfriend in my life.
4. What is the best part of the writing process for you? the worst part? The best part, for sure, is the heartwarming Facebook messages and emails I get from readers. They sometimes move me to tears. The worst part–probably the editing process. It’s so time consuming and tedious and, like you, I’m such a perfectionist.
5. You have the uncanny ability of creating heroes who are quite the cocky alpha males – how do you construct these characters and are they based on real people? Yes, they are partially based on real life people. I’ve had my share of cocky men, hubs included. I believe all characters should have strengths and vulnerabilities –and I make a list of these traits right from the get-start. The list grows as I write.
6. Have readers seen the last of Blake and his tiger? Not sure. I’m strongly thinking of a Blake/Jennifer wedding story and a Libby story. Ideas for both are in my head.
7. If you weren’t writing, what would you be doing? Right now, that’s not a choice. It’s my living. If I won the lottery, I would do charity work, mostly supporting the arts and abused animals. But I’d probably still write. J
8. What’s a secret talent you have? LOL! I don’t think I’m very talented. I pride myself on excellent taste and can find a treasure in a haystack at a flea market. I also play a mean game of Scrabble. Does Sudoko or Shuffleboard count as a talent? I can also knit.
9. What do you do when you have writer’s block? How do you work through it? Okay, two words: I freak!!! I usually have a breakthrough driving, taking a walk, or dreaming early morning.
10. What is your go to food/beverage when writing? During the day, Diet Coke. At night, wine. I also chew a sh*tload of gum, something I never did. So pathetic!
11. If you had to choose the top five books that have influenced your life, what are they and why? OOOH! This is a challenging question. In no particular order:
1. Gone with the Wind/Margaret Mitchell The greatest romance of all times. And *Sigh* Rhett. The ultimate alpha male
2. A Farewell to Arms/Ernest Hemingway: Another great love story with a sad ending that taught me that not love stories end happily. And Hemingway’s economic use of words has always stayed with me. My book, Undying Love, is a tribute to Hemingway.
- Pride and Prejudice/Jane Austen: An independent female writer plus a feisty, head-strong female character.
4. Confessions of a Shopaholic/Sophie Kinsella: I saw the movie first, then read the book and discovered her “voice” is a lot like mine. She’s actually way funnier.
5. Fifty Shades of Grey/ E. L. James… I don’t think I need to explain. 😉
12. What one book would you have loved to have come up with the idea for instead of the author who wrote it? LOL! Fifty Shades of Grey. I might be living in a Beverly Hills mansion.
13. What type of music do you listen to as your researching/writing? Do you find that a certain type influences your writing more than another? I don’t listen to music as I write because it distracts me. However, lyrics of certain songs influence my writing and I watch/listen to YouTube videos in between writing to inspire me.
14. Have your teenage daughters read any of your books? Will you allow them to when they get older? No! They’ve not read any of my books, except my fairy tale retelling, DEWITCHED: The Untold Story of the Evil Queen, written under another pen name. They know what I write but are a little ashamed. Occasionally, a page of my erotic books, printed out from the printer, makes it into their homework. GAH! When they’re ready, I hope they will read them.
15. Have any of your books gone in the total opposite direction than what you were planning? How do you adjust your writing/plotting once that happens? Not really. While I’m a “pantster,” I always know from the beginning how my books will end. Little things change along the way, but not the overall direction of the story.
