Review
Like father, like son – this was the one recurring thought I had as I read about Noah Mitchell and his need to make his own happiness and stop being held back from following his dreams…whatever those may be. Noah is the only son of Colt Mitchell, and as I’ve read most of the books in the Mitchell Family Series, I’ve witnessed Colt struggle with the same issues Noah does in this new spin off series by Jennifer Foor.
If there’s one thing that’s made clear in each one of the Mitchell books, it’s the importance of family. The idea that they’re always going to be there, even when you wish to hell they weren’t, and that message comes through loud and clear in Book 1 of The Mitchell/Healy Series. But this book is also about making dreams a reality and living a life instead of running from the one you didn’t think you wanted. It’s about the big ideas of life and figuring out how they relate to you, and Jennifer Foor does an amazing job of making those ideas shine bright in Noah Mitchell.
When Noah takes off after a fight with his father, all he cares about is getting away from the farm and taking some time to figure out what it is he wants for himself. Yes, he’s running away from his life, but at this point, he feels he needs to, but what he never could have imagined is, perhaps, he’s actually running towards his future.
Shalan’s life is nothing like Noah’s. She doesn’t have the family or the money, but, like Noah, she has the need to flee her life when she realizes her boyfriend is an asshole, and there’s nothing left for her in the small town she’s called home for too long. They might not have hit it off right away, but Noah and Shalan give each other something both of them have never had – a person who will listen to every fear and dream they’ve had. They may have just met, and it may be only temporary, but that doesn’t stop them from finding both comfort and passion in each other. The only problem is that their lives seem to be taking them in different directions, and no matter how much they might want to be together, Noah’s past mistakes and Shalan’s future career may be too much for them to overcome.
I’ve read a lot of Jennifer Foor’s books, and I know that each time I start one of her books, I’m going to get an emotional story that is character driven, and she does not disappoint with her latest text. Noah and Shalan are dynamic characters who readers get to watch grow not only as a couple but also as individuals. Noah always knew the importance of family, but Shalan helped him realize that there’s nothing like having people at your back, however annoying they may be at times, who will never give up on you and who will fight for your happiness and what’s best for you, even when you don’t think that’s what they’re doing. I loved Noah Mitchell, and I can’t wait to read Bells’ story!
A complimentary copy of the text was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I tugged down my jeans, since his back was turned to me. We were both adults and he’d obviously seen a woman before. Being in my underwear was exactly like wearing a bathing suit. I had nothing to feel ashamed of.
Well, that’s how I felt before he turned around and got an eyeful. “I wasn’t kiddin’ about sharin’ a bed.”
I climbed into the cold bed next to his. “You and I both know what will happen if I get into that bed with you.”
He sat up, leaning on his elbow. “What’s that exactly?”
“Oh, you’re funny. Like you don’t know already. Do you really think I’d just throw caution to the wind and sleep with you after one day?”
“You almost did a few hours ago.”
He was right and I hated that he knew it. “I would have stopped you.”
“Darlin’, after one kiss you’d be beggin’ me for more.”
His huge ego annoyed me, but it also made me hot between my legs. I could close my eyes and picture him being between them, satisfying the growing craving I had for him. “Have I mentioned how much I hate cocky men?”
“Maybe you just hate cock. Are you into cleanin’ carpets? Is that how you roll?” He must have thought his comment was funny, because he rolled on his back and cackled at himself. “You like the taste of pussy?”
I pulled a pillow over my face and screamed into it. The bantering between us was making me crazy. I finally removed the pillow, put my hand on the lamp switch, and spoke. “Wouldn’t you like to know?” I shut off the light and rolled over promising myself that I wouldn’t listen to anything else he had to say.
