I was arrogant, pushy, controlling, and I was fine with that. What I couldn’t control were my dreams. Memories haunted me there.
Even after over a decade, I found I couldn’t outrun them. Returning to the place they lived only seemed to trigger a landslide. I couldn’t focus, couldn’t sleep. Some people drank a warm cup of milk, cuddled up with a book, or threw back a couple shots.
Me?
I fucked my way to sleep.
Every single night, I lost myself in pussy. For a long time, it was the only way I knew to get to sleep. But it was getting less and less effective. I slept shorter periods of time before the dreams started.
There was only one hope for my insomnia and she was sexy, intelligent, and unexpected. I wanted to exhaust myself in her sexy little body and let her soothe me to sleep.
The only problem… she was my therapist, and I’d have to break her code of conduct and totally corrupt her before I made her mine.
***Warning: This is an Erotic Serial and contains explicit sexual content and language.***
Insomnia, episode one of Bethany Bazile’s Sexual Misconduct serial takes readers into the minds of Xander Pierce and Avery Shaw. One’s a man with obsessive tendencies who chooses loose women and limitless amounts of sex to shut off his brain long enough to allow him a few hours of sleep in order to escape his past. The other’s a woman whose profession allows her to delve deep into her patients’ minds in order to understand why they make the choices that they do. Now, here’s where the problem lies. Xander seeks out psychiatric care for a number of reasons; oneo of them being he wants Avery in his bed. Avery knows that Xander’s demons attack him mostly at night and his coping mechanism is to use women, and god help her, she’s insanely attracted to the filthy mouthed ass, which puts her at a cross roads – does she give into her desires or keep everything on a professional level, knowing that that’s the only way she can help him? But when you’ve done nothing but work and help others, a little fun sounds pretty good, especially when it comes in a package like Xander Pierce.
Episode one sets the stage for the drama that will undoubtedly come in the other two parts. Readers are not given much insight into Xander and Avery’s pasts. We know that Xander’s made some major mistakes that have caused bad things to occur, but what that entails has not been made clear. Avery’s past is dark as well, just in a different way. Since her parents’ death, she’s grown up without a family, fending for herself in a system that doesn’t always protect all who are in it. She’s done what she’s had to do to survive, and while she has definitely made something of herself, it’s unclear what she has had to endure and what that has done to her.
What starts as an insane sexual attraction is slowly turning into something else that neither Xander nor Avery are willing to name, and with the secrets that Zander is clearly keeping, it’s unclear how any kind of relationship can form between them when they aren’t showing each other who they really are, and with the complication that readers are left with at the end of Insomnia, it’s anyone’s guess where they go from here.
Wow, Insomnia is one sexy and foul mouthed ride. Xander is quite the main character. As a woman, I want to hate his crass language and his user attitude. He uses women, plain and simple, and it boggles my mind that women keep coming back to him. As a reader, I love him. His whole what you see is what you get attitude makes for an enjoyable read. It will be interesting to see if my feelings for him change when more of his past is revealed. Avery is an interesting character as well. She’s intelligent, beautiful, and she calls Xander on his shit. She seems a bit closed off, but I’m thinking that Xander will work his magic to get her to open up – in more ways than one;)
I can’t wait to see what life has in store for Xander and Avery. With Xander’s baggage, I’m not sure if Avery should stay in a relationship with him, but she’s finally living a little, which she rightly deserves, so as long as her fun time doesn’t harm her, I’m sure she’ll enjoy every minute of it.
