RELEASE DAY REVIEW: Fallen by Callie Hart

FALLEN SCREEN COVER

Synopsis

Sloane

For over two years, Sloane Romera has pinned everything on finding Alexis. Life was going to get better. Easier. Happier. The nightmare of having a missing sister was supposed to end, and everything was supposed to go back to normal.

However, now that she’s found her sister, Sloane is discovering that life has a way of ridiculing what we expect of it.

Nothing is easier.

And ‘normal’ is falling for a man who might never be able to feel the same way.

***

Zeth

A lengthy history of breaking things with his fists has given Zeth Mayfair a fairly good idea of how to get his own way. But when his goal, the one, single woman on the face of the planet that he’s truly ever wanted, can only be obtained by fixing things instead of destroying them, how can he adjust a lifetime of violence in order to make her his once and for all? And how can he make sure that she is safe?

The first part is going to take time. But the second part…

The second part is easy.

He must kill Charlie Holsan.

Review

Fallen ~ there are multiple connotative meanings to this word in book 4 of Callie Hart’s Blood and Roses series.

Zeth and Sloane have definitely fallen deeper into a relationship. The lengths that they’re willing to go to, to protect each other is clearly shown in the dangerous situations they find themselves in and the choices they make.

Both of their worlds have fallen apart. Neither can go back to the lives that they once lived. People want them dead; no one is safe, including Sloane’s parents and incident victims who are used as pawns in a deadly game of killed or be killed.

Some may say that Sloane has fallen from grace; the path that she has chosen since meeting Zeth is not on the right side of the law. In this installment, she takes even greater risks to protect the man she has fallen for.

From the beginning of this series, Callie Hart has given her readers stories filled with action, suspense, intrigue, and hot sex, and Fallen continues in that guise, and as much as the shit hits the fan in Burn, it’s even more so in this book because it’s brought closer to home; it’s on their own turf now and their lives are not the only ones at risk.

In each text, Zeth and Sloane’s connection has grown and the depth of who they truly are at their core is examined. Zeth is definitely the quintessential bad boy, but the more he allows Sloane in, the more readers are privy to the man underneath the darkness. Zeth’s “angry girl” is quite the complex character as well. The more she allows herself to be with Zeth the way she wants to, the more she feels alive, and she begins to understand that the path she chose for herself after her sister’s disappearance is not who she truly is meant to be and Zeth allows her to embrace her inner badass, and it is definitely beginning to show the deeper Callie takes us into Zeth and Sloane’s story.

Fallen is another fantastic read in the Blood and Roses series. There are huge plot developments in this one, and Zeth and Sloane, it seems, reach a great place in their relationship, and while there’s still a lot up in the air at the end of the text, the ending doesn’t leave me disgruntled…just excited to see how it is all going to continue to play out.
