~ REVIEW ~

I love MC books. There’s something about the biker world that enthralls me. Perhaps it’s the fact that the circumstances and dynamics of the world is completely foreign to anything most readers experience. But its darkness and fucked up situations keep me intrigued from the start of the story until its end, and HJ Bellus’ Iron Sinners fits into that category nicely.

Wrong place…wrong time – that’s the understatement of the century for Piper Jones. She goes from climbing the business world ladder, albeit in a compromising way, to fighting for her life in a world she knows nothing about. The biker who kidnaps her, Grizz, lives and dies by the biker code – fast bikes and fast women are what soothes his soul. His loyalty is to his club and his brothers; there’s no way he’ll allow a woman to become someone of importance to him, but that’s exactly what Piper does, and regardless of how much he fights it…how much he hurts her by walking away and fucking around, Piper’s it for him – but nothing’s ever easy in the biker world, and there’s going to be a lot of evil and twisted shit that happens before he claims what’s been his since he saw her face.

Piper is the type of heroine who readers have a love/the relationship with due to her attitude and actions. Before being kidnapped, she used her body to get ahead; it was all about money and power for her until Grizz shows her what it feels like to speak from the heart, and even though she gives her heart to a man who abuses it on numerous occasions, it changes her whole mindset. Piper is one badass chick who willingly fights for what she wants regardless of how it makes her look, which takes a massive amount of guts because someone’s always going to be looking to knock her down. What she endures after being kidnapped both by Grizz, his club, and their rival club could knock anyone down, but she manages to fight through every circumstance when lesser women would not get back up.

Grizz is a complex hero; at times, I felt like he was the anti-hero, doing everything in his power to destroy the woman who owns him. He’s loyal and protective to his brothers, but when it comes to women, he struggles to express himself and ends up walking away rather than fighting for what he truly wants. In order to make Piper his, Grizz is going to have to step up and show her that there’s no one but her, but in his world, showing weakness gets you killed, so there’s a lot for him to work through before he can give Piper want she deserves.

Iron Sinners is an emotional read. Situations in the story are painful, heartbreaking, and frustrating, but there’s also a sense of empowerment and redemption. Some parts are difficult to read, but it’s definitely a journey I’m glad I took.

~ EXCERPT ~

“Who the fuck do you think you are,” I yell as the large man throws me onto the bed.

“Your worst fucking nightmare, sweetie pie.”

“Just let me go, please.”

“Not happening,” he says as he sits on the bed and begins to untie his boots.

“I didn’t see anything. I don’t know names or places. Let me go. I have a very important meeting in the morning,” I beg.

“Not happening,” he replies again.

“Let. Me. Fucking. Go,” I roar, as I sling the Bible from the nightstand and nail him in the back of the head.

“Listen here, bitch, you’re now property of the Iron Sinners motorcycle club. You ain’t fucking going nowhere without one of us. Got it? You witnessed a fucking crime that could put a fellow brother away for life. You’ve been spotted with us by a rival club. You are now marked as a motherfucking Sinner. You leave our side and the Idols will put a really shiny bullet straight through your skull. You’re a walking, talking dead bitch just waiting to get popped. So shut the fuck up.”

Did I just really hear him he say property of the sinners? Bullet in my head?

“So, you’re telling me I have a ticking death threat that could expire at any given moment?”

The man stands, faces me, baring all of his ink and replies, “And I forgot to add shut the fuck up.”

“Are you fucking kidding me?”

He comes closer in an intimidating stance and bends down so we are face to face. “Does any of this read as if I were kidding you, bitch?”

His minty breath reverberates off my skin and envelops all of my senses. He was the bad guy and I, the victim, but god damn he’s gorgeous.

“Let me fucking go. I don’t care about any of that shit.”

I lunge forward off the bed, catapulting myself into his chest and begin my fight to escape. My surprise assault knocks him off balance and he falls back on the bed. I run for the door. Fuck! My bag. I take three steps back, grab my bag, and run.

Halfway out of the parking lot, I’m brought down by my hair.

“You dumb cunt. What part of my speech didn’t you get?” the man growls in my face.

He rips me up by the hair and drags me back to the room.

“I’m done playing nice. You want to run and piss me the fuck off, then you’re going to be treated like a fucking piece of trash.”
