Nash Walker – the name alone sounds sexy as hell, and the man himself is sex personified. He’s the man your momma warned you about – the one who knows how to show you a good time, but once he’s done with you, he doesn’t look back. He lures women in with his filthy mouth and sex god physique, but if you’re looking for more, you won’t find it with him. For the last seven years, Nash has done everything he can to ignore and numb his painful past by screwing his way through a plethora of women. But his old routine isn’t working anymore, and there’s only one person to blame – Velvet Carr.
Velvet may be a stripper, but it’s only a job for her – a way to support herself as she takes classes for a different career. Everyone loves her because she’s kind and caring, willing to help anyone who needs a hand. But there’s more to Velvet than she lets on. She puts up one hell of a front to ensure everyone sees her as the strong, confident woman she portrays, and while she has become that woman, she’s also broken due to an unhealthy past relationship.
For a long time, Nash and Velvet have friend zoned each other, despite their mutual attraction. Velvet doesn’t want a quick roll in the sack, and she knows Nash can’t give her more. One night, though, changes everything, and when they finally give into their sexual chemistry, Nash is going to have to decide if he can let go of his demons and give Velvet what she wants – his heart and mind.
The Storm boys are some of my favorite bikers, and after reading Nash and Velvet’s story, he’s in my top five. In the first two books, readers could tell that there was more to Nash than his cocky attitude and sexual prowess; his past is filled with pain and loss, and by giving only his body to women, he’s doing everything he can to ensure his heart doesn’t get destroyed anymore than it already is. Nash needs Velvet to revive his soul, and she’s just the woman to do it. If she’s learned anything from her past, it’s that she needs to stand up for herself and know how worthy she is of love and a healthy relationship. She doesn’t back down from Nash when he’s ready to run away; she gives him time and space to protect herself, but she won’t give up on him or what she wants from him.
Revive is the best in the series so far! I love that while this is an MC series, the club and the issues it’s going through are not always front and center. Character driven stories are the ones I love the most, and Nina Levine does a fantastic job putting her hero and heroine front and center. The problems the Storm MC are facing definitely factor into what happens with the bikers and their women, but they’re only one aspect of their relationships. Nash and Velvet are complex characters who grow significantly throughout the course of the text, and as they try to figure out what they mean and want from each other, they learn about themselves as well.
Nash and Velvet’s story is passionate, raw, emotional, and sexy. It’s about two people whose pasts may have beaten them down, but if they trust in each other, they can truly be revived.
