How many times can a person fall down and still get back up? How many times can things go wrong before you just give up?

Twisted, book five in the Blood & Roses series by Callie Hart is a perfect title for the events that play out in the text as well as the truths that are learned, and regardless of the positive or negative aspects that come with the newfound information and statuses, Zeth, Sloane, Lacey, and Pippa as well as a number of other characters are so tightly intertwined in both a warped and glorious sense that the fall out can either be catastrophic or redemptive.
Twisted Truths
The truths that are learned are, in a sense, warped because they require some people to do unexpected and out of nature things, and they necessitate others to accept information that is not only perverse but life altering. Some of the information benefits the main characters’ lives while other details add to the chaos and threaten any sense of calm that might have been established.
Twisted Relationships
Everything that Sloane represents is completely foreign to Zeth, but he understands one thing – he can’t give her up, and even though she should probably run as far away as she can from him, he wants to claim her.
Sloane and Pippa’s relationship throughout the course of the series has been put to the test, and in Twisted, it all comes to a head and what’s left when the dust settles will force both of them to make decisions that will alter what they represent to each other.
Other relationships will also become fragmented and altered, but those are some of the twists readers will have to find out about on their own.
Twisted Actions
Good reverts to bad and bad reverts to good? Not quite, but there are definitely times in the text where choices are made on how to proceed that are quite uncharacteristic of those making the decisions.
Twisted Freedom
Sloane has never felt more alive; for so long, she was merely existing, and even though the danger that Zeth brings with him puts her life in danger on a fairly consistent basis, the other things that he does for her clearly outweighs the risk. At this point in the series, Sloane has lost any normalcy in her life. She’s a wanted woman, and she has to hide out in order to not only protect herself but to not risk being used against Zeth or even her sister and her sister’s husband. None of that sounds like a liberated life, but she actually feels like she is finally free.
As the plot gets more complicated and the characters take greater risks to not only survive but to be together, it will be interesting where Callie Hart takes the series. There are still many truths to learned, feelings to be explored, and vengeance to be taken. Zeth and Sloane’s story has only just begun, and I, for one, can’t wait to see what Callie has in store for this slightly dysfunctional but extremely hot couple and their crew.
