I love dirty mouthed heroes who know how to turn a woman on with simple well crafted phrases, and Colton definitely has that skill mastered. His mysterious past is intriguing; it has clearly changed him, but I’m not quite sure yet if it’s for the better. He clearly has feelings for Sophie, but he’s not willing to pursue them or acknowledge them, which will undoubtedly change the dynamics of their relationship, especially when Sophie learns that the truth about his deceptive lies.
Sophie is innocent and pure, but Colton also brings out her feistiness and her stubbornness. She made a decision that will definitely change her, and she seems to be okay with that because she feels like she’s finally living. It’s been all about her sister for so long and even though, in a way, this is a forced separation; it allows her to figure out who she is as a woman and as someone other than her sister’s twin.
Filthy Beautiful Lies is a seductive story that shows what people are willing to do to acquire what they need. Kendall Ryan is the mistress of foreplay, crafting scenes that build up the sexual tension amongst her characters and leaving readers aching just like her characters for their final release. Ryan’s writing is addictive because her characters are intriguing and complicated, and as a reader, you want to know why they make the choices they do and what will happen when all the complications are exposed. I’m sure that in book two, Beautiful Filthy Love, the complexity of Colton and Sophie’s relationship will grow and the baggage that Colton has will either make or break them. I can’t wait for September.

“That eager, huh?” I trail a damp fingertip along her lower lip and feel her inhale sharply.
“You bought me, expecting something in return. Call me crazy, but I thought that was how this worked.”
“Let’s get one thing straight. I don’t want a sex slave. A want a companion. A mistress. Call me conservative, but I don’t like the term slave.” I’ve paid Sophie to be here – she’s not held captive against her will.
“A mistress?” she asks, raising an eyebrow at me.
“It suits you. You’re my dirty little secret – a kept women,” I remind her, smoothing a hand along her backside, watching her pulse kick up in her neck. I couldn’t have her questioning my motives. It was too fucked up for even me to think about, let alone admit to her.
