Review
Secret identity? Check. Special Power? Check. Protector against evil? Check. But what makes Dante Stark, a “new kind of superhero,” is how he marks those who commit crimes and what he does to restore the victims to their everyday lives. During the day, Dante is Daniel, an ordinary man who works in the mailroom for a company that he actually owns, but at night, he becomes a man of fire…a protector of women…a healer of both physical and mental scars. His duty to his victims and the inability to reveal his true identity force Dante to live a solitary life. But when one of the victims he is called to protect/heal turns out to be Selina Rogers, the woman he has been in love with for the past two years, everything changes for both of them, and Dante needs to decide if his destiny can include the woman who owns his heart.
I love the originality of Dante’s Fire! It’s quite interesting how Dante marks those who commit crimes against women and how the criminals suffer due to their punishment. The connection between Dante/Daniel and Selina is clearly illustrated through Probst’s writing and readers definitely understand why Dante lives the life he does and accepts the path he is on by the backstory that is presented. I do wish that some of the scenes were explored a bit further, but that’s because the whole concept of the book is quite intriguing to me and I wanted to get a clearer picture of Dante and Selina’s life, then and now. Hopefully with the introduction of Sage, future stories will be written that explore Dante and Selina a bit more.
Readers definitely need to pick up this superhero romance story!
