Who knew that a chance encounter at a hotel bar, a list of sexual desires, and a man willing and able to help her check off the items on her list would end up being her world a year and a half later, but that’s exactly what Gabe has become to Stevie. Even after all that time, their connection is still going strong, and the sex is still hot, at least when they have the chance to have it. Between two burgeoning careers and Gabe’s secret project, it’s been nine long days without either of them climaxing with one another, and to Stevie, that’s completely unheard of, which has sent her mind into overdrive worrying that Gabe is losing interest in her…that she can no longer satisfy him, and because she doesn’t want a repeat of what happened with her ex, Max, she’s going to pull out all of the stops to reignite the flame between them, even if it means stepping back into the lifestyle neither of them have participated in for a while now.
Club Venus is where Stevie and Gabe’s sexcapades began, and Stevie thinks heading back to their old stomping ground is just the thing to help them reconnect and remember what the sex used to be like for them, but if she would just listen to her heart and see who Gabe has become, perhaps she might reconsider her plan; because of all the nights to go back to a sex club, it’s definitely not on Halloween where everyone comes out to play and the action is even wilder.
After reading the Prologue, I have to admit that Clare James had me worried about what was going to transpire between Stevie and Gabe, and then when Stevie’s insecurities started getting the better of her, I was downright terrified that her actions were going to end up costing her everything. It’s plain to see from Gabe’s actions, comments, and internal thoughts that Stevie is it for him, but therein lays the problem – Stevie can’t read Gabe’s thoughts, and his actions lately have been a bit secretive. Her issues with her previous relationship with Max completely did a number on her, and her love for Gabe is even deeper, so it makes sense that Stevie’s questioning if she’s enough for Gabe and trying to figure out a way to sustain his sexual prowess. A big part of Stevie’s issue, though, is that she won’t communicate with Gabe and tell him how she’s feeling, which complicates the situation even more.
Quick and Dirty is the perfect name for this series because each book is a quick read that provides readers with a sexy and dirty ride with the main characters. Stevie and Gabe are two sexually driven characters who know how to get down and dirty with each other, and Clare James’ gives readers an upfront seat to their escapades, and even though book two finds Stevie struggling to get her sexy back with Gabe, rest assured she’s going to bring it to keep her man because that’s just the type of sassy and driven woman she is.
