NEW YORK TIMES AND USA TODAY BEST SELLING AUTHOR TONI ALEO PRESENTS THE NEXT INSTALLMENT IN THE ASSASSINS SERIES
Laces and Lace Synopsis
Nine years ago, things were perfect. Lacey and Karson had found their happily ever after in each other…or so they thought. How do two people who were meant to be move on from that once-in-a-lifetime love?
Lacey has a strength inside her that comes alive with the things she’s most passionate about. She’s a fighter, a survivor, and has everything she’s ever wanted but the one thing that matters most—love.
Karson is doing the one thing he loves most—playing hockey for the Assassins, yet he knows regret. He knows his life has been missing the one thing he walked away from so many years ago—Lacey.
Nine years later, and neither has been able to succeed in moving on from what was, what could have been, and who each of their hearts still beats for. When a chance encounter during a fateful night has their paths crossing again, will the tether still attaching their souls allow them to face the past, present, and a possible future?
Can two people with fate on their side find a way back to each other? Overcome all the obstacles in their way to finally live life together to the fullest?
Or will they let those around them and the circumstances they face, along with questions and doubt, ruin a second chance at the life they both deserve?

Review
When I finished the first part of Lacey and Karson’s story in Tangled in Laces, I was just as heartbroken as Lacey was. I needed more of their story; I needed them to be okay, and I needed Karson to realize that life is about the choices one makes, and he WAS NOT making the right choice. But my anguished pleas didn’t change anything, and I was left to wait for their full story in Laces and Lace.
Nine years…that’s how long it’s been since Lacey and Karson have set eyes on each other, but while they may not have been physically in one another’s presence, they’ve never been too far away from one another’s minds and hearts.
Nine years…that’s how long it’s been since Lacey felt truly whole and Karson felt something more for a woman than a sexual response. They’ve both become successful in their professional lives – Lacey owns her own company and Karson is making a name for himself as a top defenseman for the Nashville Assassins – but personally, they’re stuck because even after all these years, neither of them can move forward because their hearts haven’t beaten normally since Karson walked away from Lacey.
One fated encounter – that’s all it takes for Lacey and Karson to understand that the love and passion that they felt all those years ago is still very much present, and it’s a hunger that they’re not willing to deny, and even though there’s an abundance of pain, regret, and apologies to work through, this time around, they’re both holding on tightly to each other and refusing to give up what they’ve both wanted from the beginning.
But with the drama of their past to contend with and outside forces interfering on a constant basis, will Lacey and Karson’s second chance at love result in heartbreak again, or will they be able to weather the storm together and prove they belong together?
I really enjoyed the conclusion to Lacey and Karson’s story. As much as I wanted to throttle Karson in Tangled in Laces is as much as I wanted to hug him in Laces and Lace. Karson has definitely learned from his past mistakes, and from the moment he reconnects with Lacey, she is the most important person in his life, one he would willing give up hockey for. There are many times in dealing with Lacey’s family that Karson could have snapped and told them exactly how he felt about them, but he doesn’t; he bites his tongue on numerous occasions and is the bigger person, proving that Lacey means everything to him. Karson is all kinds of awesome in Laces and Lace; he feels like he has a lot to make up for, and he works exhaustingly at some points to show Lacey that she’s his life.
I loved Lacey in Tangled in Laces, but I have to admit, I kind of wanted to shake her in this story. She doesn’t seem to be the strong, confident woman she once was; I understand that going through heartbreak changes a person, but even when she was fighting for her life, she held herself up, never relenting. In Laces and Lace, she allows herself to be manipulated, and she never questions her family’s motives, even when she knows about their actions in the past. Karson is standing in front of her, wide open, offering her everything she’s ever wanted, and she continues to doubt him, which was extremely frustrating. Lacey allows her insecurities to get the better of her of numerous occasions, and I just couldn’t wrap my mind around why she continued to do so.
The secondary characters in Lacey and Karson’s story are the ones who bring the majority of the drama, angst, and laughter. I loathe Lacey’s family as much as I adore Karson’s. Lacey’s father was the main reason for Lacey and Karson’s issues nine years ago, and he continues to be a key factor in causing a rift between them even now. Readers can’t find any more loving and funnier parents than Karson’s. They sure do tell it like it is and take it upon themselves to right wrongs when their children need them.
I love Toni Aleo’s Assassins’ series, and Laces and Lace is a great addition. It has a great blend of steam, angst, and humor, and anytime I can combine my love of sports and reading, I know I’m in for a great read. I can’t wait for the next one.

About the Author
My name is Toni Aleo!
I am a wife, mother of two and a bulldog, and also a hopeless romantic.
I have been told I have anger issues, but I think it’s cause of my intense love for hockey!
I am the biggest Shea Weber fan ever, and can be found during hockey season with my nose pressed against the Bridgestone Arena’s glass, watching my Nashville Predators play!
When my nose isn’t pressed against the glass, I enjoy going to my husband and son’s hockey games, my daughter’s dance competition, hanging with my best friends, taking pictures, scrapbooking, and reading the latest romance novel.
I have a slight Disney and Harry Potter obsession, I love things that sparkle, I love the color pink, I might have been a Disney Princess in a past life…probably Belle, and did I mention I love hockey?
