IT TAKES A GOOD, STRONG WOMAN
Raised in a motorcycle gang, tough, beautiful Arianne Hunter has always dreamed of a normal life. But no sooner does she escape her father’s domineering grasp than she wakes up to find herself in a rival gang’s clubhouse—at the mercy of the dangerously sexy Jagger Knight.
TO TAME A MAN WHO’S HELL ON WHEELS.
The alpha leader of the notorious Sinner’s Tribe, Jagger Knight is all muscle, all biker, and all man. But somewhere inside this hard tattooed outlaw, Arianne senses a kindred spirit—and she can’t ignore their tempestuous attraction. Can she beat him at his own game in a revved-up blaze of glory? Or will their passion spark a war that’s the end of the road for them both?
Review
There are different kinds of justice served, but in the MC world, biker justice has its own code – one where objectivity and fairness has no business. An even darker form of righteousness comes from the one percenters – those who abide by only the rules they make, not the ones society dictates.
Arianne Hunter finds herself in this seemingly unjust world – one where she has no freedom and now faces not only the wrath of the Black Jacks MC – her father’s club but now the Sinner’s Tribe as well – the mortal enemies of the Black Jacks. Since she was 16, Arianne belongs to no one but herself; she fought for that right, and she plans to keep it that way – too bad both her father and Jagger – the president of the Sinner’s Tribe – hold a claim on her – one due to blood and the other due to the price of a life for a life. But when a blood price kidnapping turns into a claiming, what will it take for Arianne to stay in a world that she feels she doesn’t belong with a man who wants more than she’s willing to give…at least that’s what she wants everyone to believe, including herself.
Rough Justice is full of conflict, suspense, badass bikers, and a kickass heroine who knows how to take care of herself as well as those she loves. Jagger is a complex hero because he lives the life of an outlaw, but he’s also a man of honor, and there are lines that he’s unwilling to cross. His past has forced him to lead a certain kind of life – one without emotional ties, so his feelings for Arianne aren’t necessarily wanted and so he doesn’t know how to deal with them, making his hot and cold demeanor with her easily understood. It doesn’t mean it’s not frustrating for both Arianne and readers, but it holds true to everything Jagger’s experienced. As President of the Sinner’s Tribe, Jagger has duties to his club, but he’s allowing his conflicted thoughts about Arianne to cloud his judgment, putting both him and his club in jeopardy.
Like Jagger, Arianne fights her attraction to him, refusing to give herself over to a man who sees women as property and lives and dies for a biker club. Her primary goal has been to get out from underneath her father’s control and start over completely free from the biker’s world and its codes. Jagger’s claiming of Arianne destroys her plan and puts her in an extremely precarious position – one that will either end in death or a possession – neither of which work for her. But Arianne can’t deny that with Jagger she feels safe and protected and maybe even wanted, which are feelings she hasn’t felt in a long time and ones that can’t be denied.
Jagger and Arianne’s story illustrations the multiple meanings of the word justice and how getting it can be both rough and difficult. The attraction between them develops over the course of the story and as Jagger and Arianne fight against their feelings for one another, they’re also fighting to protect those they love and feel responsible for from getting killed.
Rough Justice is not only a battle between good and evil, but it’s also a battle of strong wills…a battle for justice at its most base level. It’s a great MC story, and I’m intrigued to see the powerplay that’s going to exist between Cade and Dawn in the next book.
