Pierce. He’s every woman’s fantasy.
Pity he’s not interested in women.
Fierce loyalty has meant his own needs have often taken a back seat, until he can’t ignore them any longer. Kissing his playboy bachelor-lifestyle goodbye, he’s ready to give himself to the one.
The only problem is his dream man isn’t so sure.
Done with playing it safe, Pierce goes all out to prove that the love they have for each other isn’t wrong; in fact, nothing has been more right.
But when the object of your affection isn’t so easily convinced, how much of yourself are you willing to compromise for true love?
The fear of falling in love and being rejected, that fear can bring a man to his knees.
It’s not just a broken heart that’s at stake.

As soon as Pierce was introduced in Harbour, book one of Penelope Louleas’ Runaway Home series, I wanted his story. I wanted to know the mystery man who was giving this sexy and suave businessman a run for his money. I had an inkling in Harbour’s story about the man who owned Pierce, and when it was revealed in his story, the pieces all started to fall into place. I knew from the get go, though, that Pierce’s relationship with a man who is still in the closet was going to be trying for a man like Pierce. Pierce accepts who he is; he owns his preferences, his choices, and he needs a partner who is the same way, but that doesn’t seem to be what he gets when he falls for this man.
Pierce is an amazing best friend; he goes over and above for Harbour. He’s her lifeline and her fairy godmother, but he’s so much more than that. He’s fierce in his loyalty to people, and he’s perceptive enough to know that he can’t change or coerce people who don’t want to be. He hasn’t been in a serious relationship for quite some time, and he wavers between remaining a bachelor or settling down, so the mixed messages he receives from the one man who may be able to sway his decision is a problem. Pierce deserves a man who is 100% committed to him, and he’s not sure if he’s willing to wait for his mystery man to decide where he stands.
I’m so glad that Penelope gave readers Pierce’s story. There is some overlap between his novella and Harbour’s story, but because readers get it through Pierce’s point of view, it adds another perspective to all of the events that occurred. I have to admit, though, I did want a bit more insight into Pierce himself. There’s still quite a few questions I want answered about his past and the choices he made/makes. I didn’t feel like we were given the whole picture of who Pierce is and because I adore his character so much, I guess I just wanted more. Hopefully as the series progresses, we’ll be able to check back in with him!

I absolutely love it when I find a new author whose writing captivates me from the very first page. To be honest, Harbour wasn’t even the reason I came across Penelope Louleas’ stories. I’m a huge fan of the M/M genre, so when I was going through emails for different upcoming releases, and I stumbled upon Pierce, it was a no brainer to sign up. Since Harbour comes before Pierce, I was given an ARC of it as well, and all I can say is I’m so happy that I did because it was phenomenal. Even when I was pissed off with the turn the story took towards the end, I couldn’t begrudge Penelope of that choice because everything did seem a bit too perfect in Harbour and Lincoln land, and readers know that’s not usually the case in romance stories, at least not until the characters work for it a little bit more;)
Harbour Manning is a heroine who readers will connect with and cheer for right from the onset. She’s a sassy woman without a filter who’s about as real as a person can be. She’s honest and selfless and a bit insecure but that’s partly due to her douchebag ex who made her feel like she was never good enough. She’s in awe of the world around her and soaks up every part of life that she can. With her new opportunity to spread her wings in New York, Harbour finds out even more about herself and what she’s made of when she gets involved with Lincoln Whitmore – a man who sets her body of fire and makes her heart beat faster.
Lincoln Whitmore is a dirty mouthed man who commands both in the bedroom and the boardroom. He is sex on a stick, and he falls for Harbour as hard as she falls for him. She’s everything he’s always wanted, and he proves that fact to her day in and day out. What starts out as a physical connection turns into something so much more and Penelope illustrates that bond through every one of Lincoln’s actions, even the ones readers may not agree with.
Harbour and Lincoln’s story has a fantastic storyline filled with witty banter, toe curling hot sex, and a hero and heroine who share a bond that they’re both willing to fight for even when it looks like an impossible feat. I loved everything about Harbour, especially the supporting characters and I can’t wait to read their own stories. Pierce’s novella is first and I can’t wait to get to know him better!
