Casey Markham’s story is the one I’ve been waiting for ever since I met her in On the Rocks. Readers weren’t given too much of her story as the series began/continued, but we were made to understand that there was a deeper meaning behind Casey’s “man eating” ways, and I’ve been eagerly waiting to see how Sawyer Bennett knocks Casey on her ass and makes her realize that love doesn’t have to make you feel like a fool unless it’s in the best possible way.
Ever since Casey’s heart was crushed in high school, she’s made it her mission in life to protect her heart against being hurt, and she’s done it by locking her feelings away, constructing walls, and calling the shots when it comes to each and every interaction with the male sex. She’s played the part of seductress for a really long time, gaining a reputation as the queen of one night stands without even her closest friends understanding why she’s played this role despite her desire for more.
But Casey’s about to no longer call the shots when Tenn Jennings storms into her life, shaking up everything Casey believes in and showing her that making different choices when it comes to how she “handles” men might not be so bad.
Tenn Jennings isn’t necessarily looking for love, but he wants whatever Casey Markham is willing to give him. Tenn is the kind of real that Casey has been avoiding since she started calling the shots; he’s the filthy talking, sensitive man who’s so in tune with what Casey wants and needs that it scares the living hell out of her, but their connection is also the reason Tenn is willing to ride out the mental head games that Casey puts herself through and ultimately him as she tries to figure out exactly how they fit together and if she’s willing to step out of her box in order to gain more than just physical pleasure.
I absolutely loved Casey and Tenn’s story. He is exactly who she needed to jump start her heart and watching them fight for each other despite the obstacles, mostly from Casey, shows just how perfect they fit together. Witnessing Casey join the “love club” and “make love her bitch” was the perfect way to end Sawyer Bennett’s Last Call series. I’m going to miss my North Carolina Outer Banks family, but I also can’t wait for the new families/friends Sawyer’s going to introduce readers to because I know whoever it is, their stories will be just as sweet as sexy as this one.
