TM Amazon

Blurb

He’s a player in more ways than one…College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he’ll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he’s worth a second chance.

Now he’s going to need to up his game…

After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She’s not a charity case, and she’s not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He’ll have to work for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat…and she plans on driving him wild.

Review

John Logan

He’s a hot blooded hockey defenseman who seems to be quite the cocky player – both on and off the ice; he uses girls and drinks booze to cover up his current circumstances, which he sees as a pathetic state of affairs, but the Logan he portrays and the one he is at his core are not one in the same. He’s someone who’s never been put first…someone who’s used to taking care of someone who can’t take care of himself…someone’s whose future, at least for a few years, has already been decided for him out of family obligation not choice. He’s also someone who desperately needs another person to show him that the life he’s current living is destructive and ill-advised. Unfortunately for him, though, his track record precedes him with the one girl who may just allow him to be more than the sum of his parts, and while Logan can’t control or change public perception, the one thing that is in his control – his own actions – doesn’t work so well for him either.

Freshman Grace Ivers

She’s quirky and awkward…a bit of a babbler. She also doesn’t put herself out there in order to have fun or experience all that college offers. But anyone who gets to know her witnesses her quick wit and humor and understands that the beneath the shy girl is someone who deserves everything. Her first encounter with Logan was completely unexpected, but it didn’t stop her from wanting him to take her virginity…from wanting to give him everything.

Sophomore Grace Ivers

She’s determined to learn from her mistakes and not allow anyone to hurt her again. But it’s easier said than done when the one person who caused the most damage – Logan – wants her forgiveness and a second chance.

Wooing

Let the wooing begin….for Grace and for readers because if there’s one thing we learned about John Logan from The Deal and throughout the scenes in The Mistake, he definitely has game and he’s not afraid to embarrass himself or put himself out there for the chance to get what he’s always wanted.

The Writing

Elle Kennedy continues to impress me with her writing style, her quirky, extremely likable heroines and her hot as sin hockey player heroes who just need to find the right girl to bring them to their knees. The New Adult genre can be a bit fickle and cookie cutterish, but Kennedy continues to prove that she has the writing chops to take generic story lines and make them her own, leaving her readers desperate for more.
