I’ve been an O’Kanes’ groupie since the onset of the Beyond series, but with Beyond Innocence, I feel like I’ve been branded with the O’Kane tattoos and given all of the intimate details of Sector Four and how they operate. As Lili is educated through Jared’s insights, Rachel’s perspectives, and her own realizations, readers get an insider’s look into everything that makes the O’Kanes who they are at their core and the protection and commitment they provide to each other day in and day out regardless of the risk.
Lili’s move from Sector Five to Sector Four leaves her caught between a role she was forced to play, and one she doesn’t know how to because the numbness that’s consumed her life has finally lifted and the feelings that are now invigorating her body are foreign entities that leave her scared and uncertain. Being fully aware of the environment around her and its complete contrast to her old life force Lili to acquire information and the necessary skills to not only survive but thrive in Sector Four and Jared becomes not only her guide and teacher but her confidante and lover. He allows her to experience the erotic nature of being an O’Kane at a pace that is slow enough not to overwhelm her too quickly but fast enough that forces Lili to delve into the pleasure that she may not understand but definitely enjoys.

Beyond Innocence and the Beyond series are immensely enticing both in the world Kit Rocha creates and the erotic aspects of that environment and the way its members understand the freedom that Sector Four allows them. Nothing is off limits in the O’Kane sector, which is exactly what makes every text worth the read.

Lili’s world was on fire.
It was wrong. Watching Rachel and Ace and Cruz, imagining doing more than watching, and now this, her dress pushed up to her hips and her fingers pressed between her own thighs. Everything about this was wrong, start to finish.
And it felt so, so right.
This was the source of the ache that consumed her every time Jared touched her. His touch had always been too much, illicit and skilled and intimidating. Her own touch was clumsy by comparison, but even that had her shaking in moments.
Something was simmering inside her, something that made every brush of her fingers—their fingers—more dangerous and more necessary.
