Synopsis
Alasdair McMahon isn’t focused on finding his mate. He only has one thing on his mind – avenging his sister. When I reading Annora and Parker’s story in Thrown to the Wolves and was introduced to the McMahon family of alpha bears, I messaged Rochelle Paige and told her I needed to read their stories as well because there was just something about them right from the onset that pulled me in and wanted to know more. When she messaged me back that she indeed had plans to write their stories, I was ecstatic, and I’m even more so now after finishing Alasdair’s story!
In typical true mate fashion, things heat up quickly between Alasdair and Finley once they meet at Annora’s old family home, but there’s a slew of complications as well as failed discussions and true signs of commitment on Alasdair’s part that jeopardizes anything long term between them.
Since finding out what happened to Annora, her father and brothers are hell bent on exacting revenge on the alpha of her old pack – the man they hold responsible for doing nothing to prevent Annora’s suffering. What complicates the situation is that the alpha is none other than Finley’s father – Alasdair’s true mate – and while Alasdair wants to be with his mate and create a life with her, he and his family want nothing to do with Finley’s father, causing a divide that may be too great to bear, especially when Alasdair fails to show Finley how he truly feels about her and underestimates her determination to have everything that she’s always dreamed of and deserves.
Bear the Consequences is another fantastic paranormal read from Rochelle Paige. It stays true to the alpha male hero who makes mistakes but then takes the steps to prove he’s more than worthy of his mate. Finley is a great heroine because when situations call for it, she does what needs to be done and doesn’t allow anyone to stop her. She may have grown up in an overly protective and sheltered way, but she also knows what she deserves and won’t allow herself to settle for anything less.
Alasdair and Finely’s story is steamy, emotional, and a bit suspenseful. It’s a great start to the McMahon Clan series, and it has me anxiously awaiting the next one.
