Title: Unlawful Desire
Series: ALFA PI Book #2

Synopsis

No matter how hard I tried to push her away, fate thrust us together again.

Screw relationships. My motto: Hit it and quit it.
Simple worked. Feelings weren’t on the line, hearts weren’t able to be broken, and I could keep my life simple.
My friends told me to move on and find the “one,” but I wasn’t ready to love again.
Until I met her.
A dirty-mouthed temptress with a killer body that had me questioning everything.
I knew I could ruin her forever, but not without losing myself.
I wouldn’t do it.
But Georgia Phillips was innocent, pure, and total perfection.
I wouldn’t be the one to strip her bare and break her heart.
I swore I’d never call another woman mine, but that was before I almost lost her.
Warning: If you can’t handle a cocky bad boy or a badass chick with a dirty mouth, this might not be the book for you.

Review

Chelle Bliss does a great job of giving her readers a true alpha male in looks, attitude, and perspective. In Unlawful Desire, Bliss tells Frisco Jones’ story through his own eyes, so readers get to truly understand his reluctance in getting into any kind of relationship more than a sexual one due to his past with his cheating fiancée. We also get to witness the bond that Frisco has with the other members of the ALFA Private Investigation Team and his brotherly friendships with his crew from the Neon Cowboy.

Frisco Jones’ hesitancy to start anything with Georgia regardless of Sunshine’s persistence and his obvious desire for Georgia makes perfect sense; he’s broken from his last relationship, which is clear from his internal thoughts and outward hot/cold actions, but what I had a bit of a hard time with was the fact that Frisco worked so hard to distance himself from Georgia but then he quickly goes all in and can’t get enough of her – their ping pong relationship gave me whiplash at times. Don’t get me wrong…I do understand Frisco’s reactions and his ultimate decision to be with Georgia, but I’m not sure if I just didn’t feel a solid connection between them before he was all in or the fact that it felt like Frisco was more pressured into starting it in the first place that I couldn’t wrap fully wrap my head around his change of heart.

As separate characters, I loved Frisco and Georgia; they’re both straight shooters who are a bit jaded from their past relationships. Regardless of their age difference and Georgia’s innocence, her sassiness and playfulness get under Frisco’s skin and make him rethink numerous times in the beginning that he should just give into his desires for her. But as a couple I struggled because Frisco seemed to be fighting against her through the first half of the story and then when they reach a point that he’s willing to try, it gets deep quickly, which I had a hard time with because it never felt like a foundation was built between them to have such deep feelings.

Regardless of my feelings of a missed connection, I enjoyed hanging out with Frisco, some of the Gallos and his buddies from the Neon Cowboy. The one feeling I always have when I read one of Bliss’ books is that there’s definitely a sense of love and camaraderie among the lead/secondary characters, which is illustrated through their banter and the playful antics they get into on a regular basis. A sense of family resonates off of the pages as they all willingly work to have each other’s back and even step over boundaries thinking it’s for the other’s own good.

I really hope Bear’s story is up next because he’s definitely an interesting character who has a lot to say regardless if anyone listens.

She leaned back against the bar with her tits jutting out and her arms crossed underneath. “What’s your problem with me? Did I do something to you, Frisco?”

Caught off guard by her question, my body jerked backward. “N-no,” I stuttered.

She tapped her foot. “You ditched me, marched off when you heard my age, and tonight, you seem less than happy that I’m here. What the fuck gives?”

I cleared my throat, trying to find my voice and a reasonable explanation. “I don’t have anything against you.” I was in so much trouble.

“Let’s cut the shit, Frisco. I’m a big girl. What’s the problem? Would you rather I leave?” Her body oozed attitude.

I cringed. I never wanted to hurt anyone, but I knew that I had hurt her feelings. “No. Don’t go. I’m sorry. It’s just that Sunshine…” My chest tightened. “She’s trying to fix us up.”

Georgia filled her cheeks with air before slowly exhaling. “Is that so bad?” She narrowed her eyes. “If I’m not your type, it’s cool. But otherwise, what’s the issue? I thought we had a nice time up until you left the party. I’m a big girl. Just be honest with me. I’m not into playing games.”

I wanted to play games. Naked games that ended with us against a wall, tangled together like we’d played the sexiest game of Twister.
