At the powerhouse law firm of Knight & Payne, winning comes first and ethics a distant second. Leary Michaels uses her female charms to daze opponents, and it’s always worked well—until now. On her most personal case yet, she finds herself going up against a defense attorney just as skilled, shameless, and seductive as she is.
Reeve Holloway has never met a woman as sure of her own sexuality, or as ruthless in wielding it, as Leary is. But he won’t be toyed with. What Leary starts, he’ll finish—in the courtroom, the bedroom, or any-damn-place he wants. The sex is uninhibited, electrifying, and absolutely against the rules. Reeve’s job is to ruin Leary’s case…even if it destroys her in the process and costs him the woman he’s come to love.

Review
Webster dictionary defines FRICTION as “conflict or animosity caused by a clash of wills, temperaments, or opinions,” and that explanation aptly describes the type of love/hate relationship that the main characters in Sawyer Bennett’s newest release, Leary Michaels and Reeve Holloway, find themselves in, in both the bedroom and the court room. Their clients are on opposite ends of the spectrum, which means one is fighting for voiceless and the other is leading the charge for those who refuse to pay for their misdeeds simply because they have the clout to do so.
But how can a relationship exist between two people who are sworn enemies in the courtroom without the personal and professional lines crossing? And, what happens when one is willing to risk everything, sacrificing her ethics in the process, and the other simply does what he’s told never anticipating the consequences to irrevocably alter his life?
There’s no easy verdict when it comes to finding a balance between the head and the heart, especially when Leary clearly has a vested interest in the court case they are opposing council for, and as much as Leary and Reeve want to believe that it won’t change the dynamics of their personal relationship, an emotional case based on societal perceptions and coerced information can easily sway the strongest of bonds.
Discord. Strife. Conflict. These words epitomize Leary and Reeve’s interactions but so do Flirty. Filthy. Sensual. And, it seems as if the dichotomy of their feelings for each other is exactly what solidifies the passion and intrigue that exists between them.
Friction is another fantastic read from Sawyer Bennett. Bennett writes each scene that deals with the law meticulously so that readers can truly visual the events/conversations/courtroom antics that occur throughout the text. It’s as if we are one of the spectators in the room watching the case play out in real time and feeling the electricity that exists between Leary and Reeve.
It’s a great story that clearly shows that there’s more to the truth than simple black and white answers, and that’s the idea that leads Leary to fight for the right outcome of her case and her relationship with Reeve.
On to the next case!
