Review
Salvation ~ people find it in many different ways, but it has to begin within themselves in order to truly persevere because without saving themselves first, they won’t be able to save anyone else regardless of how hard they try.
When they were younger, Katelyn Slade, her brother, Kolan, and his best friend, Nick Stone were one another’s saving grace; they looked out for each other and provided safe haven amidst the torment done to them by others. Despite their bond, Nick’s inability to fully trust anyone but himself and his need to get away from his past separates them and breaks Katelyn’s heart a little bit more, making her feel likes she’s not enough despite Nick’s claim that she is MORE. But even after a number of years apart, Katelyn and Nick’s feelings for one another have remained and now that Katelyn needs Nick’s help in order to clear her brother’s name, will he finally trust her with his heart and give her the more she deserves, or will he save her brother only to destroy her once again?
Nick Stone is just as badass and broken as K.C. Lynn’s other alpha heroes, and when the risks are high and things seem out of control, Nick is definitely the guy I’d want in my corner because he gets the job done by any means necessary. But as much as he gives of himself in order to protect those around him, he refuses to get too attached because he’ll never give anyone the power to destroy him…too bad in closing himself off, he might just be destroying himself.
Lynn does a great job of illustrating Nick’s conflicted feelings for Katelyn; it’s made clear why he vows to never trust anyone again, and as frustrated as I got with him for sending mixed messages to Katelyn, I never doubted his love for her because she’s never been too far away from his thoughts and his heart despite the years they spent apart.
Katelyn is a strong heroine; her life hasn’t been easy, but with her brother’s help, she’s made a life for herself, and even though she’s never felt more alone without Nick in her life, she’s learned to be on her own and fight for the life she wants. She’s fiercely loyal to her brother and willing to put herself in dangerous situations in order to clear his name and despite how Nick’s behavior turns her inside and out, she knows what she wants and she’ll fight like hell to get it.
K.C. Lynn seriously knows how to craft a story filled with steam and suspense – one that both curls your toes and stalls your heart due to the explosive connection of the hero and heroine and the danger they find themselves in as they try to figure out how to stay safe and where they stand with one another as they do so.
Act of Salvation exudes the qualities that readers have come to expect from K.C. Lynn, which are suspenseful story lines, complex and damaged characters, and a sizzling chemistry between the hero and heroine that resonates off the pages.

4.5 Poison Apples
He begins moving inside of me with slow, exquisite strokes, his eyes never leaving mine. He looks at me in a way I’ve longed to have someone look at me my whole life. Like I matter, like I’m important…like I am more. When it’s time for him to go back this is what I’ll remember. This is what I’ll keep close to me on the nights I ache for him, to remember that someone looked at me like this once. Even if I don’t get it for a lifetime, it’s better than not getting it at all.
Just like the man himself.
Reaching up, I cup his strong, stubbly jaw. He encircles my wrist and kisses the inside of it, right over my tattoo.
No words needed.
As more tears begin to fall he leans down and catches them with his lips. “Feel me, Kate. Feel nothing but me.”
“I do. You’re all I feel.”
“Just us,” he whispers.
“Just us.”
K.C. Lynn is a small town girl living in Western Canada. She married her high school sweetheart and they have four amazing children: two lovely girls and a set of handsome twin boys. It was her love for romance books that gave K.C. the courage to sit down and write her own novel. When she is not in her writing cave, pounding out new characters and stories, she can be found living between the pages of a book, meeting new tattooed, hot alpha males with very big…Hearts.
