Blurb

Ronan

I fell in love with a lie …

She was beauty and destruction.

Kissing her was a tender song.

Fucking her, a wild poem.

Loving her, my downfall.

But she was mine.

Or so I thought.

Lawrence

I told her I wanted her body

and not her love.

I lied.

Blaire

One man offered me his love.

The other, the world.

I’m falling, falling, falling …

And there’s no end in sight.

Review

The Sweetest Venom…

For Ronan, it’s giving himself and his heart to a woman who threw it away…it’s the hatred, bitterness, and darkness that now consume his life due to Blaire’s malicious acts. It’s the words he spews to the woman who owns him in order to prove to her and himself that he’s done with her games, refusing to give her anymore of his heart or body.

For Lawrence, it’s feeling more towards a woman who was only supposed to be a plaything…a woman who he pays to fuck him and please his every whim…a woman who could easily be his everything if he allowed the truth of his emotions to penetrate his resolve to never love again.

For Blaire, it’s controlling her treacherous heart and forcing her head to control her life by playing it safe…by never giving anyone the power to break her any more than her parents had already done.

But all three characters have already been pierced by the poisonous nectar, and regardless of how hard they try to maintain the numbness that surrounds their heart, they unwillingly succumb time and time again, allowing the one person they do not want to allow the freedom to destroy them to do so easily.

I’m not a lover of love triangles – I actually abhor them because the emotions that resonate through me due to the ever present conflicting complications is more than I can take, but for some reason, despite how tortured my heart felt while reading, I was enthralled with Blaire, Ronan, and Lawrence’s story line. I needed to understand all of their choices…their betrayals…their secrets…their lies…their self-destruction, and thankfully, Mia Asher allows those insights due to the story being told in all three of their perspectives. For this very reason, I understood what was at risk for all of them and found myself swayed by their difficult situations. I still felt that Blaire belonged with one man more so than the other, but I could see all sides of the situation and what their snap decisions and scathing words and actions would wind up costing them in the end.

In matters of the heart, especially those with more than one man vying for the same woman, hearts will be broken and lives destroyed, which is exactly what happens in Sweetest Venom. Jealousy, deceit, and hatred run rampant in this story of the heart, but there’s also redemption, forgiveness, and healing that counteracts the pain felt by all three main characters.

Mia Asher does a phenomenal job of illustrating Blaire, Ronan, and Lawrence’s growth throughout the text – all the excruciating heartache, selfish decisions, and self-loathing incidences. Ronan’s bitterness and his cruelty due to his broken heart resonates off of the pages and Blaire’s yearning for everything she ever wanted, resulting in poor decisions and destructive acts, proves how much her past has molded her into the woman she is and the struggle she goes through to free herself from those manacles. Lawrence is still a bit of a quandary at the end of the text, which makes sense because he’s the one who’s been the most closed off throughout the series, holding his feelings and his truths close to the vest.

The title, Sweetest Venom, is extremely paradoxical, reinforcing that when it comes to love, it can both heal and hurt…build-up and destroy…exhilarate and torment – everything that is contradictory and worth it in the end.

Excerpt

He watches me closely. His gaze, sparkling with lust, roves over my figure.

“Like what you see?” I tease.

“Not sure. Why don’t you come a little closer so I can take a better look?”

“Oh yeah?” I get on the bed and crawl toward him, taking my time as I close the space between us. I straddle his lap, rocking my pussy on his cock. “Well, what’s the verdict?”

“Let’s see …” he grabs me by the hips, his long fingers gripping my ass firmly, and pulls me forward until I’m kneeling over his face. I reach for the headboard for support and look down as my breathing accelerates.

“Perfect,” he says, his voice as thick as smoke. Smiling sinfully, his eyes are on me when his fingers spread my folds apart and his thumb begins to rub me in small circles.  “Fucking perfect.”

He plays my body like a damn maestro. I bite down hard on my lower lip the moment he drags his tongue along my soaked pussy. He breathes me in, his hot breath caressing my thighs as his hands move me against his eager mouth.

“And so damn sweet.”
