Synopsis
“Sawyer Bennett never fails to deliver heroes I fall hard for and heroines I adore,” raves Violet Duke. Now the bestselling author of the Cold Fury series proves that vengeance is sweet—but seduction is to die for.
Sela Halstead lost her innocence in a way that no sixteen-year-old should ever have to endure. She’s spent years trying to forget that night even while wondering about the identities of the monsters who brutalized her—until a telltale tattoo flashes across Sela’s TV screen. The incriminating ink belongs to Jonathon Townsend, the millionaire founder of The Sugar Bowl, a website that matches rich older men with impressionable young women. Obsessed with revenge, Sela infiltrates Townsend’s world, only to come face-to-face with a tantalizing complication: Beckett North, his charismatic business partner.
The tech mastermind behind The Sugar Bowl, Beck revels in a life of sin and luxury. In business, he always gets what he wants; in bed, he’s done every dirty thing imaginable. And yet there’s something about the naïve, fresh-faced Sela that sparks his hottest fantasies. Because with her, it’s not just about sex. Beck opens up to her in ways he never has with other girls. So why does he get the feeling that she’s hiding something? In a world of pleasure and power, the shocking truth could turn them against each other—or bind them forever.
Note: Sugar Daddy ends on a cliffhanger. Sela and Beck’s story continues in Sugar Rush, coming in August 2016!
Review
I absolutely loved this book! Sela is a woman on a mission, and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to end the life of the bastard and his friends who ruined her life…who took her innocence and shattered her ability for intimacy…who made sex an emotionless event that she used for nothing more than a release.
Sela is ready to deliver her form of justice, but she needs a way in…she needs a cover in order to get close to the man she seeks her vengeance on, but what she never anticipated was that her pawn would be someone who would completely change her perspective and offer her a chance at a real relationship…a connection that’s she never had. But her thirst for revenge is still there…her need to make her rapist pay and offer up the others, lives and breathes inside of her, and the only way she can be truly free from the darkness he caused is for her to get retribution for what was done to her, but that might mean losing someone who has come to mean more to her than perhaps even her need for payback.
Beckett “Beck” North is a game changer for Sela and her for him. What starts out as a ploy for Sela’s plan and an intriguing possibility for Beck turns into so much more than either of them thought they were capable of…but along the way, everything changes for both of them and the bond that Beck and Sela form makes her feel pure, whole, and loved, and it allows Beck to teach Sela what true intimacy is and why what he feels for her is something worthwhile and necessary for them both.
But there are lies and secrets between them, and regardless of what Sela now feels for Beck, their relationship started due to false pretenses, and Beck loathes liars, even though it seems to me that he holds his own set of dishonesties, and with where Sawyer Bennett leaves the unconventional couple, it’s hard to say what rush comes next and if Sela and Beck will succumb to it or find themselves falling apart.
I’ve always loved Sawyer Bennett’s stories, but Sugar Daddy is in a class of its own. It’s innovative and layered and there’s never a lull in the story line because readers are considering every character’s motive and actions. The connection between Sela and Beck radiates off of the pages of the story as does Sela’s need for vengeance.
Sela has infiltrated in order to trap her prey, but does she have it in her to murder one of the men responsible for her warped perception of sex and the damaged woman she’s become or does the man who has come to mean everything to her showed her a new plan for justice – happiness and love?
