Review
“Everyone goes to Vegas hoping they’ll get lucky.” It’s just what kind of luck they’re hoping for that differs. Gamblers go to be lucky at the tables or at the slots while Lonely men and women might go to get lucky in love or at least lust.
Nate Wexler and Julia Stevens, though, aren’t actually looking to get lucky at all. Nate is there to serve as best man at his best friend’s wedding, and Julia is there for a romance author convention. Neither one of them feels too lucky at the moment because their personal lives haven’t really measured up to what they had hoped they would be, so they’re left with a bit of a convoluted view of love, which is ironic considering Nate’s a divorce attorney and Julia writes romance novels.
But even though Nate and Julia might not be looking to get lucky in Vegas – sin city and tequila definitely take them on one wild ride.
Get Lucky is the romance version of The Hangover – there’s memory loss, hijinks, and inappropriate situations throughout the story, and even though it’s not the groom who’s missing, Nate and Julia go on a fact finding mission that allows them to put the pieces of their night together and learn some things about themselves along the way.
Nate and Julia’s journey is full of adventure, fun, and amazing sex, and even though they disliked each other at first, once they get out of their own way with a little help from alcohol and loosen up their inhibitions, they start to realize that it’s not about measuring up, but it’s about finding the right fit.
Get Lucky was my first read from Lila Monroe and it was just the laugh out loud, steamy story that I needed! I loved everything about Julia and her nicknames for Nate fit her first impressions perfectly.
I’ve definitely found a new author when I need a good laugh and an intriguing story line!
