Review
Indifferent. Disconnected. Emotionally Void.
Starting at a young age, these are the diagnoses that Hope had to continually endure as her parents sent her from one doctor to another in order to understand her abnormalities and help find a way to make her “normal.” And, because of her parents’ issues with her behavior and attitude, Hope had to fake her reactions and her responses, never allowing herself to break free or find an outlet for her rage until she couldn’t pretend anymore.
With the help of a biker in what was a defining moment in her life, Hope transforms into Rage and feeds her need to destroy by performing acts of murder and mayhem, and through these jobs, she builds a reputation and is able to process all of her extreme emotions with every devilish act.
But her latest job forces Rage to feel emotions she’s never felt before, proving to herself and to readers that all it takes is the right person to bring out so much more than just her wrath and Nolan Archer seems to be just the one to do so.
I was absolutely enthralled by Rage when I met her in Lawless; she was totally badass, and right away, I wanted to know her story and how she became the “pink demon” vigilante that she is.
I love how contradictory Rage is – she’s struggled her entire life to be “normal” for her parents, and yet, there is nothing normal about her, which is what makes her the person that she is, and instead of embracing that idea – maybe not the whole killing thing so young – she tried to conform, and in ways, she’s still conforming even when she becomes Rage, but when Nolan enters her life, she can’t hide her extreme emotions because he sees her contrary qualities and allows her to embrace them and use him to release them.
Nolan is also unique because he’s living two very different lives at the same time; at first, I didn’t see how Rage and Nolan would feel anything for each other but lust because they seemed so opposite, but as T.M. Frazier develops Nolan’s character and exposes who he truly is, it’s easy to see where they felt connected from the start…where Rage’s job turned into so much more.
T. M. Frazier’s ability to blend darker aspects of life and the devilish acts that take place with lighter, more innocent situations and characters is what I enjoy most about Frazier’s writing; she’s not afraid to turn things on their head and illustrate the beauty in the chaos and the true nature of people when the mask is taken off. King, Bear, Preppy, and Rage are incredibly dynamic and complicated characters, and with the introduction of Smoke, I can’t wait to see what messed up journey Frazier takes him on in order to find his way past his sins.

T.M. (Tracey Marie) Frazier resides in sunny Southwest Florida with her husband and three feisty fur kids.
She attended Florida Gulf Coast University where she specialized in public speaking. After years working in real estate and new home construction, she decided it was finally time to stop pushing her dreams to the back burner and pursue writing seriously.
In the third grade she wrote her very first story about a lost hamster. It earned rave reviews from both her teacher and her parents.
