My Review

When it comes to the ins and outs of sex and intimacy, Case Smith is a pro, and I mean that in every sense of the word; because for the past 8 years, he’s been a male escort, sleeping his way through a never-ending list of clients, but even though he’s damn good at his job and keeps his female clientele more than satisfied, the stress of running a business, managing his employees and their schedules as well as an upcoming book deadline that he’s barely started and it makes sense that his sex drive has taken a hit, but interestingly enough, it’s not that he can’t perform, it’s that there only seems to be one woman who gets him hard – too bad she’s his newest employee, his best friend’s little sister, and completely off-limits! 

Boy could Case use a handbook in order to maneuver around his current attraction, or maybe…he just throws his rulebook out and sees what he could have with a certain curvy and sassy part-time employee who makes him look as his profession with fresh eyes.

I love the fact that Sienna busts Case’s balls on day 1. She doesn’t hold back when she questions him about his 8 year career of sleeping with women and she asks the tough questions, even if he refuses to answer them or even consider them while she’s in his presence. Case needs a woman who will challenge him, not the typical women who fawn all over him and his gorgeous self.

The push and pull between Sienna and Case had to happen, even if it was frustrating. There’s a lot on the line for both of them that has nothing to do with his business or her job, which means if they’re going to give into their feelings and desire for one another, they need to know what they’re risking and be okay with the fallout if things end badly. 

I do have to mention Case’s word choice when it comes to a particular part of his anatomy. I should have ran a tally of the number of words and descriptions Case used to describe his penis – I truly didn’t know there were that many colorful variations, and while some were completely absurd, I anxiously anticipated what would come out of Case’s mouth next to label his favorite appendage.

The Hookup Handbook has heat, heart, and hilarity; it’s a brother’s best friend, office romance that proves that a ‘cocky manwhore playboy’ can be a one-woman man if the right girl comes along and knocks him on his ass.

My Review

Heat Stroke – the title of Marcus ‘Diesel’ O’Shaughnessy and Jamie Prince’s story in Tessa Bailey’s Beach Kingdom series has several meanings for its characters and readers. At its most basic level, it applies to the fact that both Marcus and Jamie are life guards for the summer in Long Beach, enduring the California heat as they protect and serve beach goers. And while the potential for heat stroke due to the temperature and sun rays is not a foregone conclusion, what is, is the fact that the steamy and emotional scenes between these two amazing men will have readers panting, perhaps even needing to fan themselves due to the overwhelming sensations that resonate from the pages as Marcus and Jamie’s connection becomes so much more than physical.

It’s beyond apparent just how opposite the lives and personalities are of Bailey’s two heroes, but, in this case, it works in their favor, allowing Marcus and Jamie to lighten and to enlighten each other’s lives, amping up the sexual tension between them and taking them on a journey that will push their limits, explore their true natures, and, hopefully, allow at least one of them a much needed connection that will give him the strength to live his life the way he wants to, regardless of who accepts him or not.

Can a happily-ever-after be achieved when the not so happy union started because of a lost bet, a few kidnappings, and some underhanded negotiations?

The answer to that question would undoubtedly be a hell no, but when it comes to Jericho Forge and Indy Savage’s marriage, there’s nothing one or both of them aren’t willing to do to get their hearts’ desire because even though it’s a foreign concept to Jericho, he’s actually found the woman who gives as good as she gets and is his ace in the hole when he needs her the most, even if it takes him a bit too long to figure that out on his own.

As Meghan March’s The Forge Trilogy series has progressed, readers have watched a stoic and cold-hearted man hellbent on exacting revenge and completing cutthroat business deals figure out that he’s not as emotionless as he thought and his heart may be just as big as his Kraken, thanks to a beautiful poker playing powerhouse who is more than ready to go all-in when it comes to what they could mean to each other despite their shaky beginning and the number of threats who are still out for blood in a deadly game that isn’t quite what it seems nor are the players who they appear to be either.

I have to admit…heading into the final book, I wasn’t sure how March would bring all of the conflicts to a head without it feeling forced or predictable, but I can unequivocally report that the pivotal scenes in Heart of the Devil were expertly crafted in a way that allows readers to thoroughly understand the reasons behind every deal….every consequence…every secret and I felt completely satisfied with how everything played out, because not only does Jericho prove he has a heart, but Indy solidifies why she belongs at his side, bringing light to his dark world and love to a soul that may have been tainted with a multitude of hate, but just needed the right woman to show him the way to love, to hope, and to forever.

My Review

I’m an avid reader of Lani Lynn Vale stories and a huge fan of her story lines and characters, so when I saw that she was writing a new series – one set in a small town community that focuses on the lives of teachers – I couldn’t wait to be introduced to a new set of colorful characters and the interesting things that happen to them and to those around them.

Raleigh Jolie Crusie is definitely a heroine who readers will identify with; she’s a quite quirky, a total hot mess, and a klutz like no one I’ve ever seen, but her flaws and self-image issues are what make her real, and while there were times that I just wanted to put Raleigh in a bubble to protect her from herself, she is who she is and she can’t be someone she’s not regardless of how much she might desire to be in order to catch the eye of her old high school crush. 

Ezra McDuff was the hot high school athlete who everyone wanted to be and be with, and now as an adult, he’s the handsome teacher and coach who, despite his rough edges, everyone still wants a piece of him, and rightly so, because the further into the story I got, the easier it was to understand just who Ezra is and all of the good that he does for his students, his players, and his family, and the accident prone, amazing woman he will never not see again.

There’s one plot line in the story that I struggled with, but that’s only because I’m a high school teacher and the reality of the situation explored was absolutely on point; I appreciated the way that Vale crafted this particular conflict, and I couldn’t help but think about similar incidences that have happened in my own district.

Overall, though, this was just the feel good story I needed, and while there’s a bit of mystery, some drama, and a few creepy incidences, at the heart of the story is a good guy who finally sees the good girl who has always been in his life, and together, they find what they’ve been missing in each other, which also helps them grow as individuals and that’s the kind of character growth I love to see a hero and heroine experience.

Brady watches the server’s arse as she walks away. “Tell me what kind of lass that you’re looking for and maybe I can help you find her.”
