RELEASE BLITZ: WORSHIP by Trilina Pucci

Book Two, in A Sinful Series, brings you an intense, taboo love story, and an even hotter ALPHA. Meet Luca King— broody, powerful and a man who’s never refused.

There are only two reasons a man falls to his knees: prayer and pussy.

And I sure as hell don’t pray.

But for this woman, I’d fall on my knees to worship every single, gorgeous part of her body.

And claim her as mine, knowing I shouldn’t want to keep her.

Because we’re all wrong, too complicated, too explosive….too sinful. I want what I can’t have.

But I’ll take it anyway because Gretchen Andrews has done the one thing my wife never could….she’s made me love her.

My Review

I had the privilege of reading both versions of Worship, and the one constant in both drafts was the sexuality, fierceness, and control that resonated off the pages when it came to Luca King, and let me tell you, this guy could talk a chastity belt off a virgin, especially with his smooth talking Italian and his panty melting dirty talk.

The title itself has interesting implications for the story line, but the fact that Trilina Pucci named this series of standalone romances, Sinful, even further complicates an already dangerous and messy situation, indicating that as much as Luca King wants to worship at the feet of the object of his obsession, Gretchen Andrews, in all ways possible, his hands are tied, requiring a level of trust that hasn’t yet been earned, forcing both Luca and Gretchen to deal with a crazy amount of envy, even when things are definitely not what they seem.

Luca King – the layers to this man are endless, but he chooses who sees what facade he wants them to see, and the only people he allows into his inner circle are those who he considers his family, and even some of them don’t know everything he hides behind the control and power he emanates. Luca is an unstoppable force…that is until he meets Gretchen and he throws his carefully constructed live in disarray, forcing him to decide what and who he’s willing to risk for the woman who brings this powerful man to his knees.

Gretchen Andrews is definitely the woman for Luca, not only because she can hold her own with him, but because she accepts him for who he is, the alpha male who demands her submission in certain aspects of their connection, the ruthless man who protects his own, the brother who always puts his family first. She’s a ballbuster and a sassy one at that, but Luca and her feelings for him make her feel more than a little off-kilter, and an emotional Gretchen is one who will question and distrust, refusing to listen or accept things even if the truth is more than apparent as long as she’s willing to look.

The fact that these two can’t keep their hands off one another, even knowing what they’re up against and how tangled up Luca’s life is with not only the mother of his daughter but his ties to a dangerous underworld, illustrates just how desperate they make one another, and while that kind of love is difficult to find, it’s also one that can overwhelm and destroy, which means that the extenuating circumstances of Luca’s life combined with the reckless feelings they have for each other and the all-consuming need to claim one another make overcoming their obstacles essential but at the same time never ending.

Gretchen is definitely Luca’s Angel – the moniker he named her – and he gladly worships her, but without trust, all they have is their need and lust for one another and neither of those things will sustain them when everything is on the line.

The King twins are self-made men who know what they want and what they refuse to accept, and now that they’ve claimed their women, it’s time for their other brother to find his own, amore per sempre, and I can’t wait to see who knocks him on his ass, so he can understand exactly how his two brothers feel about their leading ladies.

REVIEW BLITZ: ALL WE WERE by Elisabeth Grace and Michelle Lynn

Will I ever stop hurting the one person who’s never hurt me?

I’ve done things I can never undo.

No matter how much I wish I could, sometimes the wounds I inflict are too deep, too catastrophic, too septic to heal.

As I look into the eyes of the only man I’ve ever loved I know I’ve gone too far. I’ve finally crossed the line.

Even if he knew my reason for doing this, he’d never forgive me.

He always puts my needs before his own.

Now it’s my turn to protect him.

None of that matters though because the betrayal and disgust in his eyes comes from deep within his soul. There’s no coming back from this.

He will forever be tormented by what he’s seen, and he will never forgive me.

The last fragment of my heart to hold out hope that we’d share a future, withers and dies.

My Review

When Jimmy Crawford and Lilah Robbie were young, all they had were each other…all they had was the pain and the heartache of their respective circumstances…all they had were their dreams of making it big and never looking back at the darkened shadows that consumed their lives growing up. They made promises to each other and to themselves, and as soon as I started delving into the pages of All Were Were, it was obvious that as much as they wanted to be each other’s strength…to stand by one another no matter what, it wasn’t as simple as they thought it would be and the inconsistent contact, care, and comfort took their toil on both of them, proving that their volatile on/off relationship may be more than they can handle, even if they thought they’d be together forever.

What most intrigues about Jimmy and Lilah is what they became because of and despite of their upbringing and their circumstances. It’s easy to say that people are the products of their environment, but I don’t buy into this idea completely because two people who experience the exact same abuse…the exact same scars have a choice as to what path to take, and while that decision can be manipulated based the toxic nature of things, it doesn’t mean that have to fall into the same kind of destructive and manipulative behaviors that surrounded them as kids.

The way Michelle Lynn and Elisabeth Grace craft Jimmy and Lilah’s story, moving between the past and the present as well as slowly uncovering the reasons behind Lilah’s self-destructive behavior and Jimmy’s ‘good guy’ demeanor make readers’ emotional connection to them a maelstrom of feelings. My emotions felt all over the place as I was reading, not only because their story is angsty as all heck but also because my opinion of the hero and heroine continually fluctuated, making me, at times, sympathetic and emphatic, and at others times, frustrated and angry.

But that’s what makes a story a good read, isn’t it? The fact that readers feel a bevy of emotions as they witness the characters’ ups and downs as well as their highs and lows, and let me tell you the damage Jimmy and Lilah did to themselves and each other, Lilah more than Jimmy, is enough to make any sane reader question how these two always keep coming back to one another when they seem a toxic mess of self-sabotage and enabling.

I cannot wait to see where Lynn and Grace take Jimmy and Lilah in book two; I hope these two can find their way back to each other for all the right reasons and not just because they have a history together, but for any of that to happen, I feel like Lilah needs to help herself and realize exactly who she’s become before there’s any hope that they can become all that they are meant to be.

4 Poison Apples

Coming face-to-face with my past changes EVERYTHING.

I’m at the top of my game. All my struggles have finally paid off. Life should be great.

I mean, life is great.

Except for the fact that I can’t stop thinking of her. The woman who mangled my heart into a bloody pulp and never looked back.

If I could free myself of our shared memories, my future would be golden.

There’s only one way to move on—I have to confront the past, so I can move into the next chapter of my life in peace. Which means confronting her for the final time.

I had no idea that knocking on her door that day would turn my life upside down.

REVIEW: WHEN AUGUST ENDS by Penelope Ward

A Standalone Contemporary Romance Novel

NY Times, USA Today, and #1 Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author Penelope Ward

Synopsis

What do you do when a sexy, older man moves into your family’s summer rental?

Well, apparently, you make a fool of yourself—over and over. Things didn’t exactly get off on the right foot with Noah Cavallari. Our first encounter was embarrassing, to say the least.

But despite that, I found myself waking up every day with a new-found energy. Nothing exciting ever happened on the lake—not until Noah moved into the small boathouse on our property. He’d booked it for the entire summer…and I was still trying to figure out why.

When my mother became ill, I inherited the responsibility of making sure our guests were well taken care of. I should have been in college. Instead, I was living my best life…as a maid.

Dark, handsome, and mysterious, everything about Noah screamed forbidden.

I knew he was just passing through town for the sum-mer.

I knew he was probably too old for me.

Yet, I was drawn to him.

Not to mention, he tried to save my life when he mistakenly thought I was drowning.

I wanted him and made no secret of it.

His own attempts to warn me away soon gave way to late-night moonlight chats by the lake. We were slowly easing into a friendship that was gearing up to explode into something I might not recover from.

Because he’s leaving at the end of the sum-mer.

And I have no idea what I’ll do when August ends.

My Review

What I love most about Penelope Ward’s stories is their unique story lines and the fact that she usually takes her time with the progression of her heroes and heroines’ relationships, building up things between them in a way that clearly indicates that they know what they’re getting into by crossing a line that they never anticipated wanting to cross.

This is exactly the situation that Heather Chadwick and Noah Cavallari find themselves in, in Ward’s newest release, When August Ends, and, like the title suggests, there seems to be an end date for anything these two begin since Noah only plans to stay on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire in Heather’s family’s boathouse for the summer. Not only that but due to Heather and Noah’s age difference as well as the their differing personalities and lifestyles, it doesn’t seem possible that anything could develop between them, especially since Noah thwarts Heather’s advances from the very beginning, hopefully preventing another fallout from a situation turning disastrous.

Heather and Noah are an interesting pair who strike up a friendship and enjoy each other’s company, and despite Heather’s desire for more, the connection they form means a great deal to both of them. Heather sees Noah as someone she wants to unravel, not just because she’s desperately attracted to him, but because she clearly sees what’s beneath his exterior and wants to understand this complex man in every way possible.

Despite the fact that Noah knows he should keep Heather at an arm’s length, he struggles to completely do so, until it comes to a point where he no longer chooses to fight his attraction or turn her down one more time but that decision makes things significantly more difficult for both of them, especially when summer is almost over and it’s unclear how everything will play out in the end.

When August Ends is a slow burn romance that illustrates the push and pull as well as the amped up sexual tension of two people who feel a connection but one feels the risks are greater than the rewards if they give into what they feel. I really enjoyed how Penelope Ward crafted Heather’s character; she’s sassy, funny, and good-natured and the fact that she’s innocent draws Noah to her in a way that, for the most part, he refuses to act on. Noah’s denial of his feelings towards Heather was necessary, even if it frustrated her and me at times, but the fact that these two built a foundation of friendship and camaraderie before crossing the line makes everything play out the way it should for everyone involved.

Blurb

It was the biggest day of my life.

I know most people say that about something joyous; a graduation, a wedding ceremony, the birth of their

first child. My situation was a little different.

Sure, it was my eighteenth birthday, but it was also the day that I was sold.

Sold to a man with hair like a crown of gold and eyes blacker than the darkest pits of Hell.

He bought me to own me, to control me, and to use me as a means to an end.

I was his tool and his weapon.

And through it all, somehow, I also became his salvation.

RELEASE BOOST AND REVIEW: Would Be King by Kim Karr

A dare turns into so much more…

All I want to do is get to work on time.
But a Prince Harry look-a-like is trying to steal my cab,
And I’ll fight for it to the bitter end.

In the midst of our verbal battle,
I discover I lost my wallet.
So I bargain—a free ride for a kiss.

What starts out as innocent quickly steams up the windows.
His lips are soft, and when he tugs me closer,
I press my entire body against his hard muscles, and practically strip him from his expensive suit.
This is the best taxi ride of my life.
Until it ends just as quickly as it began.
Embarrassed over my behavior, I rush out without so much as a goodbye.

But fate, that bitch,
Has us pounding on the same locked door.
Already knowing I’m going to be fired,
I curse my new boss and his new rules.
The hot suit laughs, and dares me to tell my new boss what a dick he’s being.
With nothing to lose, I accept.

Never in a million years could I have imagined he is my new boss.
Arrogant.
Sexy.
And totally off-limits.
Dating him is against the rules.
His rules.
He doesn’t seem to care.
Until I dare him not to fall in love with me.

Even then he says that’s easy.
That the only four-letter word he lives by is duty.
But this would-be-king is about to fall hard…for a commoner.

My Review

I dare you not to fall in love with Prince Maximus Napoleon Montgomery – the ginger heartthrob who’s taking New York fashion industry by storm and razing a little hell in the process, even if he’s supposed to be keeping a low profile.

This ‘would be king’ has gotten himself into quite a bit of trouble, so he’s been shipped off to the states to right his ship, so to speak, in order prepare himself to fulfill his royal duties and prevent anymore unwanted bad press for his family’s name, but once a rascal, always a rascal, which means that Max doesn’t even have to be looking for trouble for it to find him, and with social media and the paparazzi constantly in both his personal and professional life, they’re bound to catch him in some rather precarious positions with quite the lovely American commoner regardless of the fact that he’s her boss and there’s a company no fraternization clause in place.

Gigi Gatsby is a pocket full of sunshine, which is exactly what Max finds most attractive about her. She’s creative, intelligent, and genuine, which is something lacking in the people Max usually surrounds himself with…these two have incredible chemistry and their attraction to each other is palpable but there are huge obstacles in their way that not even the brightness of Gigi’s heart and soul could surmount on their own.

Kim Karr expertly uses social media to help tell Max and Gigi’s story. The Casanovia Conquest and Tweets are perfectly placed and shed light on the way of the world when it comes to celebrities and royals. They also allow readers to see exactly how enamored society is and how free they are with their words while hiding behind their computer screen. It’s also a great way to show instead of tell specific details when it comes to what Max and Gigi have to deal with, especially Gigi when she has to accept information and figure out if it is the truth or more lies.

There’s quite a bit of drama to be dealt with in Would Be King, which is logical given Max’s royal heritage, the position he’s required to take, and the fact that what he truly craves is something he may not be able to keep.

I absolutely adored Max and Gigi’s story; it’s royally entertaining, heartfelt, and swoon worthy, and Max is definitely at the top of my list of all of Kim Karr’s book boyfriends.

REVIEW AND EXCERPT BLAST: Lost And Found by Lexi Blake

Owen Shaw and his “brothers” lost everything, their entire existence erased. Science had robbed he and all the Lost Boys of their memories and their past, but not their future. Hunted by every intelligence agency in the world, they are focused on two goals: find a cure for what was done to them and ensure that the technology that ruined their lives doesn’t get out into the world. Rebecca Walsh might be the key to achieving both. Owen has been studying her closely, living in her building, and he cannot resolve how such a beautiful, giving woman could have helped design the evil process that destroyed his past.

Dr. Rebecca Walsh has dedicated her life to researching the secrets of the mind. My Review

The Lost Boys may have forgotten who they are, no longer able to rely on their memories to remind them, and they may also be struggling to find their new place in the world amidst being hunted for the very reason that their minds are blank, but what remains clear to them and to readers of the series is that they will stop at nothing to unravel all the clues that led them to their uncertain fate as well as their desire to protect those who have come to mean everything to them, no matter the cost.

In book two of Blake’s Forgotten series, readers get to know another alpha male who has lost his way due to others’ malicious intentions. Owen Shaw, the sexy Scotsman, is hellbent on finding out what happened to him and his ‘brothers’ and the means he’s willing to use to get that information is limitless and on this new mission is target is the very woman who he instantly is drawn to and feels a connection with for the first time since losing every single shred of who he was.

Dr. Rebecca Walsh has been singularly focused on studying debilitating diseases since she lost her mother to Alzheimer’s, which leaves her little time for anything else, especially a personal life, but with nothing to show for her life but her work, even though she doesn’t want to admit it, her loneliness is overwhelming.

It’s interesting that the very science/methods that led to the Lost Boys losing all recollections of their lives at the hands of Dr. MacDonald are similar to the work that Dr. Walsh is consumed by, which is why it’s believed that she may have information about what happened to the Lost Boys.

So to say that there’s a conflict of interest when it comes to the attraction Owen feels towards the good doctor would be an understatement, but all things are definitely not what they seem and as Owen and Dr. Walsh explore their feelings for each other perhaps everything they’ve both lost will be found in new and life saving ways.

The suspense and action scenes involved in Lost and Found, as well as all of Blake’s other sexy and suspenseful stories, are written in a way that allows readers to visualize the play-by-play, picturing every act that’s taken, every risk that they choose to confront head on. Because the description and the showing instead of telling of the plot line provides every opportunity to understand every detailed event and the powerful feelings associated with the heart stopping and heart wrenching incidences the characters must endure.

Lexi Blake definitely knows how to create romantic suspense, which makes sense since that’s been one of her go-to romance genres since I’ve been reading her stories. But what I love most about Blake’s books is the fact that within her numerous series, no two tales are alike…each one is crafted in its own originality, and while the overarching conflict is dispersed amidst the pages of the entire collection of books, their separate storylines and complex characters offer readers everything they want and need from Blake’s thrilling and scorching reads.

4.5 Poison Apples

Excerpt

“Becca.” Owen’s voice was low. “Concentrate on me, on our conversation. You’ve done incredibly well. You’ve been able to hold it off, but this has gone on far longer than you ever should have been expected to handle it. This elevator is tight. I feel it, too, but we can hold off the anxiety together.”

She doubted very much the man in front of her was anxious. He looked solid, like the kind of man who took whatever came his way and simply dealt with it. He wouldn’t have needed two freaking years to figure out what he wanted. He would have signed his divorce papers and moved on, not hiding in his work.

It struck her forcibly that she might never have met a man like Owen Shaw. Her childhood had been fairly sheltered. She’d constantly been surrounded by intellectuals, men and women who were far more concerned with their work than anything else.

The ground beneath her shifted and the elevator dropped what felt like ten feet, but she knew in her head it was mere inches. Her heart rate tripled, and she grabbed on to the closest thing she could—him.

His arms went around her, holding her up, and she heard it. He was so tall that her head naturally rested on his chest, and she could hear his heart beating in rapid time.

He was nervous.

The phone rang and Owen cursed, reaching out to grab it. The shaft was so small, he didn’t have to let her go to grasp it.

“What the bloody hell is happening, Colin?”

She could hear his voice over the line. “Sorry. So sorry. We had to lower the shaft the tiniest bit. I should have warned you. It’s not going to fall. Just needed to reposition to get to the problem. Not long now. Another half an hour or so and I’ll have you right out of there.”

“If you do that again, do you know what I’m going to do to you, Colin?”

There was a pause over the line and she could practically hear Colin’s gulp. “Write my father a tersely worded letter of complaint?”

“No, I’m going to pull your heart out through your throat and then I’ll shove it back up your arse.”

“You sound very much like Liam Neeson in that movie.”

“Liam Neeson is Irish. I’m a Scot. I assure you what I’ll do to you will make you run into Liam Neeson’s arms and beg him to save you.” He reached back and hung up the phone with a resounding clang.

His arm went back around her. “It’s going to be all right. They’ll move faster now. So you’ve taken a sabbatical from men.”

She breathed him in, loving how he smelled. Were men supposed to smell so good?

She could feel herself relax as he held her. She’d known him for three hours. She shouldn’t let him hold her like this.

And why the fuck not? Because it wasn’t smart? Because he might think she wanted something she shouldn’t?

She was human. Why shouldn’t she want him? Because society told her that good girls didn’t make out with guys they’d just met in an elevator?

Society sucked, and she wasn’t a good girl. When her husband had tried to put his name on her work, she’d told him to fuck off and write his own paper. When he’d cheated on her, she’d walked away.

She was single.

God, was he single?

She stepped back.

“What’s wrong?” Owen asked.

“Do you have a girlfriend?”

His lips curled up in the sweetest grin, as though he knew exactly why she was asking that question. “No, love. I don’t have a girlfriend and I don’t have a wife.”

He was single. She was single.

The moment lengthened between them.

He stepped back. “I’m sorry. I’m coming on way too strong.”

He wasn’t. He’d been gentlemanly, friendly. Up until the last couple of moments, he hadn’t put a hand on her or leered. She could feel his attraction. It was there in the warm way he looked at her, in the set of his shoulders, relaxed earlier and tense now that he’d touched her. He was thinking about the same thing she was.

“I’m very nervous, Owen. My logical mind knows that it’s far more likely for me to die getting hit by lightning than in an elevator, even one that’s stuck.” Unfortunately, her logical mind was slowly losing control of her dumbass lizard brain.

“Will talking help?” Owen asked. “Because I’m willing to do that. Or whatever you need to take your mind off things.”

There was a wealth of promise in those words. Dirty and sweet at the same time. They’d shared her wine, passing it back and forth between them, her lips touching the same place his had been moments before. When she’d drank after him, she’d thought about kissing him.

It had been too long. Two years was way too long to go without sex.

They had a half an hour or so. At least that’s what Colin—who might be murdered soon by Owen Shaw—said. She even thought his name was sexy.

What exactly would it hurt if she did kiss him? If she touched him and let him touch her? Hell, what would it hurt if she fucked him? They were both single, both a little needy. They had some time to kill. They’d done everything else.

“I would like to kiss you.” If he didn’t want her to, he could say no and they could find something else to do. She wasn’t going to be embarrassed because some guy didn’t want her. Some stunningly gorgeous guy. Some really funny, sexy guy. After all, she wouldn’t see him after this. She’d never seen him before. He’d told her he was moving in, but she went into work early and came home late. He was a bodyguard, so he likely worked odd hours and traveled a lot.

He was safe. She could open that door, enjoy herself, and then close it again. Owen Shaw could be her first really good memory in a long time, the start of many because it was time to get serious about finding some joy and balance in her life.

But only if he wanted some joy, too.

He moved back, placing his back against the elevator wall, the sweetest smile lighting up his face. “You have no idea how much I want you to kiss me. I’m right here, love. Do your worst.”

He was letting her make the first move. And probably the second. And the third. He was obviously a careful man. It would be easier if he took over, but he was right. This needed to be her choice, and she had to make the move.

She’d been the girl who’d told her parents at the age of five that kindergarten was boring and she wanted to move through the grades until she found something challenging. When they’d told her they wanted her to slow down and enjoy her childhood, she’d gone on strike until the teachers at her school begged her parents to let them move her up.

She was the girl who’d put it all on hold to take care of her mother, too.

She wasn’t the girl who didn’t take what she wanted, and she wanted Owen Shaw.

“It’s been a long time since I did this.” But her body was already heating up. Her body remembered. Her marriage might have sucked, but the sex had been fairly good. It had been the reason she’d married him. She’d gotten used to regular, good sex.

She’d get used to it again, just on her terms this time.

“Somehow, I think you’ll remember,” he said. “You play all you like. Stop when you want to.”

She’d been right about him. He was a careful man. “And if I don’t want to stop?”

“Then you should be happy I’m a man who believes in being prepared.”

Excerpt

A smirk pulled at the corner of Maxon’s mouth where he had me backed against the wall. “You act like I have some other place to be.”

Redness flushed. “Don’t act like you don’t have plenty of people to entertain you.” I hoped it didn’t sound like bitterness, like scorn, but it was hard to keep that from quivering in my voice.

He moved even closer and planted his hands over my head. So close I could feel need oozing from his skin, his breath on my face, blueberries and ice. “There’s no one else, Izzy. No one I want. No one I can’t breathe without. It’s always been you.”

Desire pulled at my stomach, knottin’ it up tight. I pressed my thighs together, and he caught it, scenting my need.

Hot air puffed out of his nostrils like the dragon he was, and I was shivering. Shaking like a leaf.

He moved his hand, slowly, watching me carefully as he dropped it down and placed it on my bare thigh.

Right up under the skirt of my dress.

The breath left me on a staggered gasp. Tingles flashed. Flames licking and lapping.

My body begged to come alive under his touch.

“Izzy, baby,” he murmured, and oh God, I sagged, my back pressed to the wall. Hooked. Knowing how fast this man could make me fall.

Those eyes pinned me, keeping me in place, while his hand squeezed my leg.

He edged down, nose brushing mine, a soft inhale between his lips.

Breathing me in.

Then he pressed his mouth to mine. Featherlight.

Didn’t matter how soft it was.

Lightning streaked. A crack of thunder in the air.

He pressed our mouths tighter, lips closed, just this persistent pressure that felt so right.

A promise.

An apology.

Sensation rushed through my body.

This old love trying to bust free.

To climb out.

Reach for him.

Because I’d wanted it. Wanted to be with him so badly.

I whimpered.

“Izzy,” he murmured at my lips.

“Maxon,” I whispered back.

That was it.

We lit.
