EXCERPT REVEAL: INAPPROPRIATE by Vi Keeland

Excited about Vi Keeland’s upcoming release, Inappropriate?

 Check out this SNEAK PEEK

I wondered if he’d be here.

I was mid-conversation with some former colleagues I hadn’t seen in a few years when I got my answer. The sight of him made me lose my train of thought.

On the other side of the room, Grant Lexington stood wearing a classic black tuxedo. He was talking to an older gentleman, which gave me the opportunity to really take him in—tall, broad shoulders, yet not overly bulky, a narrow waist with one hand resting casually in his pants pocket. Even from a distance, his confidence registered. There was something about the way certain men held themselves that showed they were in charge, and that really worked for me. It could take a man who was a seven and make him an eleven in my book. On the other hand, a handsome ten with a meek personality could be reduced to a five.

Mr. Confident held a drink in his left hand and raised it to his mouth, but he stopped before drinking. He seemed to sense something and looked around the room. When his eyes caught mine, a slow, wicked smile spread across his face. He excused himself from the conversation and strode toward me.

My body tingled as I watched him approach with long strides, and I turned from the group I’d been standing with.

“What a pleasant surprise,” he said.

I tried to appear casual as I sipped my champagne. “I’m filling in for Bickman.”

He nodded. “Of course.”

Grant eyed the group next to me. “Are you here with a date?”

“No. You?”

He smiled and shook his head. “Would a compliment be unwelcome? I wouldn’t want to sexually harass you.”

“Compliments are always welcome, Mr. Lexington.”

His eyes sparkled. Taking hold of my elbow, he led me a few feet away from the group I’d been standing with. “That’s a dangerous thing to say to a man like me.”

“What was the compliment anyway?”

Grant’s eyes swept over me. “You look beautiful tonight.”

I blushed. “Thank you.”

Grant stopped a waiter as he passed. He gulped back the rest of the amber liquid in his glass and slipped the flute of champagne from my hand, setting them both down on the waiter’s tray.

“I was drinking that.”

He motioned for the waiter to move along and returned his attention to me. “I’ll get you more when we’re done.”

“Done with what?”

He held out his hand. “Dance with me.”

I shook my head. “I’m not sure that’s such a good idea.”

He smirked. “I’m fucking positive it’s not.”

Blurb

Terminated for inappropriate behavior.

I couldn’t believe the letter in my hands.

Nine years. Nine damn years I’d worked my butt off for one of the largest companies in America, and I was fired with a form letter when I returned home from a week in Aruba.

All because of a video taken when I was on vacation with my friends—a private video made on my private time. Or so I thought…

Pissed off, I cracked open a bottle of wine and wrote my own letter to the gazillionaire CEO telling him what I thought of his company and its practices.

I didn’t think he’d actually respond.

I certainly never thought I’d suddenly become pen pals with the rich jerk.

Eventually, he realized I’d been wronged and made sure I got my job back.

Only…it wasn’t the only thing Grant Lexington wanted to do for me.

But there was no way I was getting involved with my boss’s boss’s boss. Even if he was ridiculously gorgeous, confident, and charming.

It would be completely wrong, inappropriate even.

Sort of like the video that got me into trouble to begin with.

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

But sometimes it’s twice as fun.

COVER REVEAL: Dear Ava by Ilsa Madden-Mills

Dear Ava - CR banner

Dear Ava, an all-new full-length, enemies-to-lovers, high school standalone romance from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills is coming February 2nd, and we have the smoking hot cover!

IMMDearAvaBookCover55x85_MEDIUM

The rich and popular Sharks rule at prestigious, ivy-covered Camden Prep. Once upon a time, I wanted to be part of their world—until one of them destroyed me.

The last thing I expected was an anonymous love letter from one of them.

Please. I hate every one of those rich jerks for what they did to me. The question is, which Shark is my secret admirer: Knox, the scarred quarterback and their leader, Dane, his twin brother, or Chance, the ex who dumped me…

Dear Ava,

Your eyes are the color of the Caribbean Sea.

That’s stupid.

What I really mean is, you look at me and I feel something REAL.

It’s been ten months since you were here, but I can’t forget you.

I’ve missed seeing you walk down the hall.

I’ve missed you cheering at my football games.

I’ve missed the smell of your hair.

The truth is, I wanted you back then—but you had him.

And then everything fell apart that night.

Don’t hate me because I’m a Shark.

I just want to make you mine.

Still.

An excerpt of Dear Ava appeared in the anthology Team Player 2 in 2019. (No longer available.) This full-length version is 100,000 words.

RELEASE BLITZ AND EXCERPT: THEIR FAIRY PRINCESS by Nicole Edwards

Book 7 in Nicole Edwards’

Office Intrigue series…

THEIR FAIRY PRINCESS

Release Date: January 14, 2020

Cover Image Copyright © Irina Kharchenko

Have you ever felt … incomplete? As though happily ever after is a fleeting, unattainable concept?

Not that I haven’t had memorable experiences because I have. Plenty of them. It’s more like what’s necessary to check off all the boxes for a successful HEA hasn’t been defined yet. At least not for me.

To say my desires—not to mention my expectations—are complicated would be putting it mildly. It’s bad enough I’m in love with my best friend despite the fact we can’t give each other what we both need: a Dominant who can tame our inner submissives.

Then the unexpected happens.

Secrets are revealed, danger unfolds, decisions are made. And it’s during the ensuing roller coaster ride that five peoples’ lives are forever changed. Including mine.

THEIR NAUGHTY STUDENT (OFFICE INTRIGUE, 6) – CHAPTER 1

EDGE Friday, October 19, 2018

IF SOMEONE WOULD’VE TOLD ME I WOULD one day be willingly waiting for Zeke Lautner’s sister to meet me at a kink club, I would’ve told them to lay off the sauce.

Seriously.

No one in their right mind would entertain the thought of engaging Jamie Lautner in any sort of kinky activity. Not if they wanted to live, anyway.

Except, that was exactly what I was doing.

Didn’t matter that I had an entire club to manage. I had somehow been roped into meeting sweet little Jamie so I could show her the ropes at Dichotomy. Not literally, of course. No way was I going to tie that girl up. I valued my balls far too much to allow that to happen. Zeke would castrate me in a New York minute if he found out.

Yet I couldn’t deny some sense of anticipation.

I had known Zeke for some time, and I’d had the privilege of meeting Jamie a time or two. More so in recent years when it seemed Zeke used her as his plus one whenever there was a function that wasn’t club related.

I tried to picture her as my little sister, but I had a hard time. It would’ve made tonight a hell of a lot easier if I could. Only then it would be weird because I couldn’t fathom introducing my sister into this world. In fact, that would be rather creepy.

Not helping, Edge.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. That inner voice was being a pain in the ass. Had been ever since Ransom Bishop came up with this absurd idea and Zeke had gone along with it. I had to believe Zeke was suffering some sort of mental breakdown. The man was so protective of his sister, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a long list of injuries sustained at that man’s hands. Any man who wanted to so much as take the girl for coffee probably had endured a broken finger or two.

I shook out my hand. Like my balls, I’d grown quite attached to my fingers.

For fuck’s sake, Edge. Grow a pair, would ya?

“Master Edge?”

I turned to see Angela Evans strolling my way. She was one of the submissives on duty here at Dichotomy, the red studded collar around her neck a sign that she was here in an official capacity.

“Yes, Angela?”

“There’s a guest waiting for you at the check-in point.”

Fucking lovely.

Part of me had been hoping Jamie would freak out at the last second and be a no-show. I couldn’t get that lucky.

“Thanks.” I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself. No way could I give Jamie the proper introduction if I was a freaked-out mess.

You’re a Dom, for fuck’s sake. Act like one.

I hated that damn voice, but it seemed to be there more and more these days. I wasn’t sure why it thought I needed a mental push, but there it was, always shoving me forward. It was almost as though I was stuck in a rut, and without it, I would likely find myself sitting at home, my hand down my pants as I ate pizza in front of the television.

And what? Have a beer or two? Get fat and lazy? Come up with an excuse to be alone?

As I was making my way to the front entrance, I passed Ransom and I couldn’t miss that wicked grin on his face.

Yeah, buddy. We’re doing the death march. Are you happy?

Ransom Bishop was an instigator. He enjoyed the hell out of setting things in motion. He was always inserting himself in various situations, motivating people to do things they likely wouldn’t do otherwise. All so he could sit back and laugh. Somehow, I’d fallen into his trap and I hoped for his sake I walked out the other side in one piece. Otherwise, I was going to beat him within an inch of his life.

I approached the front entrance, fully expecting to see Jamie standing there. Probably decked out in jeans and a T-shirt, not understanding what fetish wear was or why it was standard protocol in a club of this nature. However, I didn’t see anyone out of place as I scanned the area.

My eyes shifted to the bar. Two Doms were standing there chatting. No submissives. I peered into the Dom lounge, but I only noticed Mistress Jane speaking to Mistress X while four male submissives knelt on the floor at their feet.

Maybe she bolted before you could get here.

I turned, ready to head up to the front desk to see if she’d done exactly that when my gaze landed on a young woman standing to the left of the scanning room where everyone was patted down to ensure they didn’t have weapons or video equipment.

Holy Mother of God.

Yeah. I really needed that voice to shut the hell up. It was hard enough to breathe without his interference because … Holy Mother of God.

There was six feet of lithe brunette watching me, her long limbs drawing my attention as I took her in from head to toe. Not an inch of denim was covering her. Then again, the brown and gold corset she wore didn’t cover much of her, either. It cinched in her trim waist and highlighted her breasts, cleavage cascading deliciously over the top edge, which hugged her breasts lovingly. The brown spandex boy shorts covered her private parts but did nothing to hide those long, long legs.

For fuck’s sake. Say something, dumb ass.

“Master Edge?”

I forced a smile as I composed myself, allowing my Dom face to fall into place. Ogling this woman wasn’t an option and I needed to remember that.

“Jamie, you look … lovely.”

She smiled and her face was so radiant it damn near blinded me. On a normal day, I wasn’t one to wax poetic about a woman’s smile, but I couldn’t help it.

“Thank you.” Her chest bloomed with color and the sweet rosy red inched upward until it highlighted her cheeks. It was in that moment that I noticed how fucking young she was. She was ten years younger than Zeke, which made her twenty-three or twenty-four.

Twenty-fucking-anything was insane for me to consider. I was thirty-six, which made this girl twelve years younger than me at the very least.

It’s not like you’re old enough to be her father.

Well, technically, I probably was. Not that I’d been having sex at the age of thirteen, but it would’ve been shortly thereafter.

“Thank you so much for allowing me to come here tonight,” she said sweetly.

“It’s my pleasure to have you as my guest.”

Her brown eyes darted around and the curiosity I saw there made my dick stir with anticipation. I fought it back, reminding myself she wasn’t just any submissive who was looking to explore this world for the first time.

She was Zeke Lautner’s sister.

She was an innocent.

She was off-limits.

How the hell had I allowed Zeke to talk me into this?

My Review

Aly Martinez is one of those authors who has the ability to draw her readers in from the start, making us completely invested in the story line from the very first page. And, in Release, because we’re offered insight into the course of Ramsey and Thea’s relationship, from being nothing more than acquaintances to best friends to destined lovers, we understand just how much they mean to one another and just how painful it is when everything falls apart.

The kind of love that Ramsey and Thea have is one that should sustain them…that should continue to grow into something unbreakable…impenetrable, but that’s not the case, and after reading about their beginning, I didn’t think that was possible…I didn’t think that anything could tear them apart, but I was wrong, and I felt every bit of the pain, the guilt, the grief that these two endured as they had to deal with over a decade of separation.

Ramsey is an incredibly honorable hero despite the injustices done to him and while he frustrated the heck out of me when he refused to listen to Thea…refused to acknowledge just how much he needs and wants her, even after all those years apart, I understood his reasons, even if I hated the pain that his words and actions caused both of them.

Thea is a fighter who claimed Ramsey as hers a long time ago, which means that moving on from her true love is impossible. He’s the other part of her heart and her resilience…her ability to stay true to him, even after he pushes her away, proves the power of their love and her ceaseless commitment to what began all those years ago.

Like most of the journeys I take with Aly Martinez’s stories, I was emotionally overwhelmed at parts, completely swooning over the love they felt for each other in others, and beyond outraged at the injustices that these two characters had to face. But I trusted that Martinez would prove that love conquers all regardless of the obstacles that Ramsey and Thea faced, and the ending Martinez gave to readers was absolute perfection.

It was funny. I’d spent almost half my life surrounded by the biggest, baddest criminals the state of Georgia had been able to capture. Yet, I was terrified of a five-foot-five woman who for some asinine reason was still in love with me.

I couldn’t be around her. Not if I wanted to keep my head straight and my eye on the prize. I had three years before I got off parole. I needed to get a job, tuck away some cash, and, the second I was allowed to leave Georgia, get the hell out of there. Maybe, if I was lucky, I’d be able to convince my sister to come with me. We didn’t have to go far. We could stay in the south if she wanted. South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee—there were schools everywhere. Nora wouldn’t have trouble finding a job. The hardest part would be convincing her to leave Thea.

However, maybe if she did, Thea would finally move on with her life and stop obsessing about me.

I’d known they lived together for a while. I didn’t want anything to do with Thea while I was locked up, but I was happy as hell Nora had someone to lean on. I had been under the impression that Nora had gotten her own place when she found out about my release. I had been under that impression because Nora had straight-up told me she was getting her own place after I’d declared there was no way I was living with Thea.

Now, I was hiding in my room, waiting for Nora to wake up, open my door, and escort me to breakfast like a damn bodyguard so I could avoid confrontation.

Next up in my efforts to kill time was a workout. Sit ups, push-ups, planks, running in place. This was when I realized Nora hadn’t bought me any deodorant.

Another shower.

Another naked lap around the bedroom, and this time, I managed to keep my hands off my cock.

Finally, I got dressed. This required me to pick through a bunch of preppy shit Nora had bought for me to find tattered jeans and a fitted green tee that clung to my chest like a damn glove. In my closet, I found a belt and a pair of distressed brown lace-up boots that maybe could have doubled as combat boots if the war was taking place on a runway. But what the hell did I know about style? I’d been wearing orange or puke beige for almost half my life.

When I was done with all of that and there was still no sign of Nora, I sat on the edge of the bed and decided to give the phone thing a try. I wasn’t totally out of the technology loop. We had computers at the library and we were allowed to use them if we earned the privileges. But they might as well have been dinosaurs compared to the phone she’d bought me. I couldn’t even get it to read my face with the fancy secret laser thing. I gave up trying pretty quickly.

So there I was, bored out of my mind, starving, and poking at my newfound wrinkles in the bathroom mirror, when I heard a knock at my door.

“Ramsey?”

I froze, my eyes locked on the mirror, panic staring back at me.

Thea.

Jesus. I needed to find somewhere else to live.

Leaning out of the bathroom, I stared at the door. If I was super quiet, maybe she’d think I was still asleep and go the hell away.

When I didn’t reply, she knocked again. Her voice was timid and sweet, not at all like the fearless girl I’d grown up with. I hated it.

“Ramsey? You hungry? I’m making breakfast? I was wondering if you wanted something?” Everything from my name to the fact that she was making breakfast was a question, as if maybe she was asking permission to cook in her own house.

My stomach was currently feasting on my backbone. Still, I said nothing.

She sighed. “Okay. Well, if you change your—” There were several seconds of silence.

I quirked my eyebrow at the door, trying to figure out why she’d abruptly stopped talking, and then cursed my inability to develop x-ray vision.

I held my breath, hoping to hear her footsteps as she walked away.

No. Such. Fucking. Luck.

The door swung open and she came walking inside with her hands stacked over her eyes. “Look, I know you’re awake. I heard you running earlier. I also heard you take at least three showers. Sorry, but the house isn’t that big. Neither is the hot water heater. Are you at least dressed so I can open my eyes?”

Brave. Unapologetic. And completely oblivious to boundaries. Now that was the Thea I knew.

“Get out,” I barked.

“Dressed? Not dressed? Help me out here?”

“Get. Out.”

She kept her eyes closed. “You gotta eat, Ramsey. You can’t stay locked up in this room forever.”

I wanted to tell her to get the hell out again. Honestly, it was on the tip of my tongue. But it never made it past my lips because my traitorous eyes stole a head-to-toe of her lithe body. She was barefoot, wearing jeans—tight ones that tapered at her ankle. They looked like mine in the sense that they had a rip in the knee. They didn’t look like mine in the sense that they hugged the curve of her hips and more than likely her ass too. A pink tank top stretched across her chest, and I swear on my life, fuck x-ray vision because I could see the pebble of her nipples beneath the fabric.

It wasn’t a ridiculous dress.

It wasn’t stupid fucking heels.

She wasn’t wearing a face full of clown makeup.

She was just Thea.

The nostalgia pumped through my veins like acid even as my cock stirred. Fuck, I should have jerked off again in the shower.

“I’m dressed,” I bit out, desperate for her to put her damn hands down and maybe use them to cover her tits instead.

Her long, brown lashes fluttered as she opened her eyes. Those fucking eyes had once owned me. As a huge smile lit her face, I felt the claim all over again.

“Oh, look, you chose one of the outfits I picked out for you.”

Of course I had. Of fucking course. As soon as I got her out of my room, I was going to take the outfit off and light it on fire.

My Review

In the first two books of Dylan Allen’s Forever Trilogy, Allen provides readers with an upfront view of the highs and lows, forwards and backwards, ups and downs of Beth and Carter’s love story. We were privy to the start of their relationship and how their feelings for one another ebbed and flowed based on life’s circumstances and outside interferences that refused to allow these two a moment’s peace. The good times Beth and Carter spent together and the electric connection they shared always seemed to be overshadowed by unknown entities as well as a litany of secrets and lies. But just when I thought they may have reached the point of no return, giving up on their love because it never seemed to be enough to get them through the rough patches, hope survived and even if it only flickered at times it was enough to keep readers and Beth and Carter holding on, refusing to believe that all hope was lost and that fate had a different plan for them – one that didn’t include them in each other’s lives.

But, I’ll admit, at times, I truly felt like anything resembling a healthy relationship between Beth and Carter was an impossibility, especially when it seemed like Beth was not able to keep fighting, when things had overwhelmed her to the point that she was drowning in despair, allowing her demons to consume her. And it didn’t seem to matter how much Carter fought for them because there was always another obstacle to move past, another revelation to confront, another moment of helplessness to overcome.

But I also knew that regardless of how fractured my heart was for these two individuals who seemed destined to be together even though fate had quite the jacked up plan to test their love, Allen would give them their shot and detail the difficult, angsty, emotional path these two took to get to their always and forever.

When Beth and Carter’s journey began, they felt they could create something that would last forever, but due to a significant number of variables, both within their control and out, they faced a large amount of heartbreak, but the one thing that they seemed to hold onto against all odds was the idea that they would always remain in each other’s hearts, which meant there was always a chance to be exactly where they wanted to be: together.

Even when it seemed like there wasn’t a possibility of Beth and Carter finding their way back to each other, they found a way. They stood by one another, regardless of what other people did to destroy their connection. And despite the secrets and lies and half-truths that were told and heard, these two never stopped seeking the full truth because they knew that it would set them free in a way that would be everlasting.

Excerpt

I watched her with my entire heart in my throat. I have never been so proud of anyone, ever, in my whole life.

The whole room just witnessed the sweeping tower of her beauty and courage. Then, they saw the way her expression changed from pride to exultant relief….like a dead man stumbling on a cure when her eyes landed on me.

Not everyone gets the kind of love I saw in her eyes. I feel like the luckiest man alive right now because she’s back in my arms.

We’re the magnetic halves of one whole – drawn together, locking into place, and then holding on for dear life through the seismic shift of our world righting itself.

I breathe in her sweet, familiar scent. There’s a new depth to it, less flower, more earth, but the essence of it is unchanged.

“Carter, oh my God, Carter,” she repeats over and over. Her arms are wrapped tight around me like I’m her lifeline.

Holding her again, there’s no doubt that she’s mine.

My heart is beating normally for the first time in almost two years. My lungs inflate fully for the first time in that long, too.

Her nose is pressed to my neck and her lips move against the base of my throat. My body reacts to her nearness, to the press of her curves, her breasts, her thighs, the way her hair smells. So, I put her down. When I look at her face and see that smile, I want so badly to hold her again, my erection be damned.

A throat clears behind us and I turn sharply back to my table. Nadia’s staring at us with wide, wet eyes.

Next to me, the throat clears again and this time, I follow the sound. Standing to my left is the man I’d seen her with earlier. The one who’d wrapped his arms around her earlier, is looking at me like if there was a baseball bat in reach, he’d use it to put some distance between me and Beth.

She turns and wraps her arms around his neck hugs him fiercely.

He hugs her back, but his eyes are stony on me.

Who is the cradle robbing asshole?

She pulls out of his embrace and smiles up at him. “Joe, I can’t believe I did it.”

His expression softens the minute he looks down at her, his eyes shine with adoration.

“I can. You did a great job,” he says and taps the end of her nose with the tip of his finger. She preens and gives him a mock curtsey.

“You gonna introduce me, Beth?” he asks, nodding over her shoulder at me.

Her spine straightens and she nods. Then, she turns back to me, that smile back o her face.

“Carter this is Joe…my neighbor and my friend.” She squeezes his hand and they smile at each other.

“I’m her surrogate father,” he corrects in a deep unequivocal voice, a glint of protective pride in his eyes. He shifts his weight and for the first time, I realize he’s leaning on a cane.

“Joe, this is Carter. My….” Her lips purse as she stops to choose her words, but and her eyes are bright with jubilant joy as they scan my face as if the answers to the universe’s mysteries can be found there. “He’s….my best everything. Ever,” she says with a happy, matchlessly beautiful smile.

My heart does that thing…that stumble, trip, and fall that has always been its response to being near her.

It doesn’t care that she’s my…whatever. It only knows that for me, she is love.
