BLURB

Face of an angel.

Body of a god.

And a mouth so dirty he could make the devil blush…

Fix Marcosa’s time can be bought with money, but he isn’t selling sex. Murderers, rapists, criminals: if you’re on the wrong side of Fix’s moral code, you’re in trouble. The kind of trouble that winds up getting you killed. As a hitman for hire, Fix is no stranger to violence. He’s merciless. Relentless. A true savage, down to the roots of his very soul. You can beg. You can plead. You can pray, but it won’t do you any good. Once the tall, dark stranger arrives at your doorstep, it’s already too late to repent.

Sera Lafferty’s no stranger to heartbreak. With an abusive father and a dependant sister, her life has been one of sacrifice and compromise. As soon as she sets eyes on Felix ‘Fix’ Marcosa, she recognizes the darkness in him and makes a vow: she will not get involved. But trapped inside a motel room with the sexiest man to ever walk the earth? Throw in some tequila and the storm to end all storms, and Sera finds herself worshipping at the altar of Marcosa.

She knows she made a mistake.

She knows she needs to run.

But when she witnesses the assassin at work first hand, she knows it’s far too late. Thrown into the back of his sleek black ride, Sera finds herself trapped, and in more way than one. Fix is deadly. He’s demanding, he’s dirty, and he’s determined to claim her for his own.

Review

Felix ‘Fix’ Marcosa is an enigma, not only because the pious man he used to be contrasts drastically with the cold-blinded killer he’s turned into but also because, despite his sinful profession and his dirty mouth, Fix is as honest as they come, which complicates how Sera Lafferty sees him, especially after they share a drunken night of dirtying one another up in the most decadent of ways and then she proceeds to witness Fix complete a contract and does nothing to stop it.

But it’s not just Fix whose past has changed who he is…Sera’s childhood is seeped in abuse and anguish, and her memories have quite the hold on her present, even if she’s unwilling to admit it. Despite her scars, though, Sera is a fierce fighter who protected herself and her younger sister as much as she could and then

It’s clear that Sera’s not Fix’s usual type, which becomes even more interesting once some of the details of his past are revealed; there’s a reason he’s drawn to her…there’s a reason he can’t stop thinking about her taste and the way her body felt against his. She’s not the ‘prissy princess’ he stereotyped her as in the beginning; there’s a story behind all of her actions and even though he should cut and run and allow Sera to move on with her life, putting the bullshit behind her, he can’t help but want to keep her, although with where Dirty ends, I’m not sure they’ll ever see eye-to-eye again.

Based on the darker side of her romances and the tortured, anti-hero male characters she creates, Callie Hart adores taking her readers on one hell of a complex and adventurous ride, where it’s clear that the heroine should run like heck away from the man whose gotten under her skin, but she can’t seem to pull herself away from the invisible tether that binds her to him in all the right and all the wrong ways.

Fix and Sera may have entered one another’s life by accident, but now Sera has put herself in a rather precarious position when it comes to what she knows about Fix and the insurance Fix needs to keep from being thrown in prison. And then when everything plays out between them and new insights are learned, there’s no telling where they go from here because the only thing they both know for sure is that their lives as they know them will never be the same!

REVIEW: FALLEN REIGN by S.L. Jennings

Synopsis

Yesterday, I had the audacity to imagine a future.

One that didn’t include hunting rogue demons and battling archangels to settle an ancient score at the expense of humanity. One comprised of a home and a family and all the things I’d longed for as a broken child.

Then in the blink of a silver speckled eye, my foolish hope was extinguished, and my world came crumbling down.

We stood strong. We fought. We lost.

I lost.

Legion, the demon I dared to love, was gone.

Now I’m going to tear myself in two and do the unthinkable to find him. I’m going to put my trust in his brother, his enemy, and make a deal with the Devil. And while his darkness and depravity echo mine, I know this won’t end well for either of us.

My body may survive, maybe even my soul. I can’t promise the same for my heart. This time, I will not fail. I will not hesitate. And if it comes down to it, I’ll be the weapon I was created to be. I will follow the code of the Se7en, and do what I should have done when we had the chance.

Kill one to save a million.

Kill him to save the world.

Review

I was absolutely RUINED by the end of book three, and I truly didn’t understand how Legion and Eden were going to come back from what transpired; it absolutely felt like end times, meaning that all hope was lost and there were very few people/beings, if any, who could bring back Legion, the being, instead of the evilness that he embodied by the time Wicked Ruin was over. Despite my feelings of hopelessness, though, I knew that Eden would not go down without a fight and that the big bad devil, Lucifer himself, would factor into Eden’s plans.

Body, heart, and soul – those are all parts of Eden that she willingly gave to Legion, and now that he’s gone, she will willingly risk all three in order to save the world and the man she loves. But if readers have learned anything from the previous three books in the Se7en series, it’s that nothing is what it seems; time and time again, S.L. Jennings has led readers and her characters into some extremely fucked up situations, destroying the world in her story and leaving everyone to pick up the pieces, knowing that it will never be the same because there’s always another foe to battle, another sacrifice to be made, and another life to save, which means that the ending is never quite the end because the full story hasn’t been told yet.

The road to bringing Legion back is incredibly dark and twisty because not only do the Se7en have to rely on the devil to prevent total annihilation, but Eden’s destiny still hasn’t been completely revealed and by the time that information is told, things may be too far gone or the outcome may not play in her favor given what she was initially created to do.

But despite everything that the Se7en and Eden have been through, the need to find Legion is a mission that they are not capable of achieving on their own…there’s too much at stake…to much power and evil to contend with, which means that they need the help from the biggest badass of them all – Lucifer.

While Lucifer doesn’t steal all the thunder of the other characters in this series, he definitely is an intriguing alpha male – one who oozes sex, lust, desire, and danger. It’s clear he has his own agenda and easily manipulates situations in his favor, but it’s also important to understand the other side of the devil…the side that very few see…the side that happens to shine in Eden’s presence because his feelings for her are beyond comprehension given his position and his selfishness.

S.L. Jennings’ paranormal series are some of the best due to her incredibly detailed world building and the complexity of the characters she creates who seem to be a combination of both good and evil. Her story lines are never straight forward; there are always multiple complications and roadblocks that have to be take, care of and plans readjusted in order to continue on the path that will lead characters to either their damnation or their redemption.

Eden, Legion, Lucifer, and the Se7en have been to hell and back throughout the series: they’ve experienced casualties, life-changing revelations, and cataclysmic incidences.

‘Kill one to Save a Million.’

‘kill him to Save the World.’

That’s where Eden’s existence begins and ends…at least that is what fate dictates, but Eden is beyond a badass and she refuses to not be in control of her own destiny as much as she can be, so I never doubted that she would have her say and act according to what her hearts wants and needs, and while it almost destroyed every part of who she is, she’ll do anything to fulfill her personal mission, meaning tearing the world down to the guard to reunite her with the only man she wants to spend forever by his side.

This series took me on one hell of an amazing, emotional, and beyond crazy journey. Any feeling a person has will be expended in this story line; the events will irritate, anger, sadden, and ultimately destroy because it is just that epic, and it’s made even more so due to one evil bastard and a Jennings’ character that readers just can’t help but love.

BLOG TOUR: REVIEW AND EXCERPT: JACOB’S LADDER: ELI by Katie Ashley

Read for FREE on #KindleUnlimited: https://amzn.to/2ujVx3J

Blurb

One wouldn’t expect a sexy-as-sin rocker like Eli Renard to spend time with a woman just as a friend, but that’s exactly what Emersyn Wallace is to him. Just a friend. Even though she’s matured into a beauty, Eli still doesn’t remotely see his childhood pal as a sex-object. When tragedy brings her back into his world, Eli moves mountains to help Emersyn get back onto her feet by finding her a job as a backup singer for Jacob’s Ladder. At first, Eli is thrilled that Emerysn is along on tour, and he sets out to do his best to help her forget her sorrow through a range of crazy friend dates. But after spending so much time with her in such close quarters, Eli finds his feelings beginning to shift. He no longer sees Emersyn as the once awkward young girl he played some of his first songs with. Soon it’s not only his body that reacts to her, but it’s also his heart. He’s about to learn what a dangerous game it is to dry a widow’s tears.

After losing her husband and singing partner in a tragic accident, Emersyn Wallace spent the last eight months drowning in a sea of grief. With the bills piling up and her family and friends concerned about her emotional welfare, she reluctantly agrees to join the Jacob’s Ladder’s tour. While recapturing her lost love of singing and performing, she finds both comfort and healing in Eli’s gregarious personality and outrageous sense of humor. But as the anniversary of her husband’s death approaches, she finds herself in turmoil over her new amorous feelings for Eli.

Can Eli and Emersyn find the perfect melody to transition from friends to lovers, or will their relationship end out of tune?

Review

Regardless of the time or the distance that may have caused best friends to lose touch, when they need each other the most, they’re there, which is exactly what Eli Renard does for Emersyn Wallace when her world turns tragic and she not only finds herself swimming in a sea of grief but also needing support financially and emotionally.

As Eli’s protective nature works to alleviate some of Emersyn’s stressors, readers are with him when he realizes exactly what Emersyn means to him and as the sexual tension continues to build between them, it’s clear that what they’re feeling towards each other is something they both want, but they’ll have to fight through the pressures of their lifestyle as well as Emersyn’s conflicted emotions if there’s any chance for them to turn their friendship into love.

The fact that there’s a solid foundation for Eli and Emersyn to build on makes the potential for more a real possibility BUT the fact that Emersyn just lost her husband and now finds herself having non-plutonic feelings for her best friend makes things extremely complicated and as she grapples with her contradictory feelings, her hot and cold demeanor, while understandable, makes things difficult for everyone around these two and makes Eli question whether anything will ever work when Emersyn hasn’t completely grieved the loss of her husband.

Readers will definitely being crushing hard on Eli Renard; he’s not only an incredible musician but he also has a huge heart. I loved witnessing him become aware of just how much he wanted and needed Emersyn, and even though I’m sure he’s conflicted about his feelings towards her because of everything she just lost, he also doesn’t want to fight them now that they’re in the open, even if it means there’s the potential that he could lose her friendship by going too far too fast.

Katie Ashley does a great job exposing and exploring Emersyn’s grief and guilt amidst the overwhelming need to be with Eli. There are so many emotions swirling around in her head and her heart, and while some readers might take issue with how quickly she ends up with Eli in a capacity other than a friend, that fact ramps up the angst that’s present in the book, making Eli and Emersyn’s journey a difficult one which is expected given all of her baggage and Eli’s need to protect her even if it means giving her the space she needs.

Eli and Emersyn’s story is an emotional and steamy one that shows the reality of loss and the overwhelming feelings that come with moving on despite the pain that also plays a big part in the aftermath of death. No one can truly know when it’s time to move forward; it’s different for everyone but one idea seems to hold true – the loved one who passed away wouldn’t want to be the reason for living in the past.

4 Poison Apples

Excerpt

Tonight, as I trudged back to the bus after our show, I wanted nothing more than a scalding hot shower and to fall into bed. After our Meet and Greet, I’d stayed back to have a beer with some of the roadies while Gabe and Emersyn headed for the bus. After Harry unlocked the door, I pounded up the stairs. I swept my shirt over my head as I started down the hallway. The curtain to Emersyn’s roost was closed, so I figured she had gone on to sleep.

“All right, bro, you’ve been in there long enough. Give someone else a shot at the shower.” I grabbed the handle and jerked open the bathroom door. A high-pitched feminine squeal pierced my eardrums, and my hands flew up to cover them. As a whole lot of naked female flesh entered my vision, I should have covered my eyes instead.

Oh fuuuuuck. It hadn’t been Gabe in the shower. Instead of seeing my brother’s junk, I had just managed to see more than I ever should have of my best friend. Like tits and ass kind of more. While most women didn’t care if their girlfriends saw them naked, it was a completely different ball game when it came to male and female friends. Yes, I might’ve accidentally grabbed Emersyn’s boob once, but that was nothing like seeing her practically naked

“Eli!” Emersyn shrieked as she fumbled to cover herself with a towel.

Averting my eyes, I ducked my head, but then on second thought, I spun around so she could get decent. “I’m so, so sorry. I thought you were Gabe.” As I got a delicious flashback of perky tits in my mind, I mumbled, “So not Gabe.” Oh Jesus, had I actually just thought of Emersyn’s tits as perky and the flashback as delicious? What kind of pervert was I? There was no way I should’ve been having those thoughts about my best friend. When I grabbed her boob in my sleep, I had felt so disgusting I wanted to cut my hand off. Well, you know, except for the fact I kind of needed it to play guitar. Next thing I would be doing is filing the images of Emersyn away in my spank bank to relive at a later time. Oh, fuck no!

“Did you ever hear of knocking?” she squeaked. I wasn’t sure I had ever heard her voice so shrill. Who knew the way to get her to reach a new vocal range was to scare the shit out of her by seeing her naked?  Although I was pretty sure she would object to going on stage in the buff

I threw a tentative glance over my shoulder, and relief filled me when I saw Sonny was now sufficiently wrapped in a towel. Turning around to face her, I asked, “Yeah, okay, so I didn’t knock, but didn’t you hear me when I said I was coming in?”

Emersyn wildly shook her head. “It was all muffled because I had the towel over my ears to dry my hair.”

“I’m really sorry, Sonny, but ever since Abby got with Jake, it’s been just us guys on the bus. When you’ve seen one dick, you’ve seen them all.”

“Tell that to all the men enamored with sending dick pics.”

After throwing my head back with a laugh, my eyes met hers. “Good point.”

Nibbling on her lip, Emersyn said, “I guess this was bound to happen with us being in such close quarters.”

“True. But from now on, I’ll make sure to knock. I’ll make sure Gabe gets the memo as well. In fact, we might even instate a shower schedule where you’re ensured to have the whole bus to yourself.

Emersyn rolled her eyes. “I’m not that much of a special snowflake that I can’t take showering on a bus with you two.”

“Yeah, well, I would argue your horrified scream at the sight of me could have broken glass.”

She laughed. “It wasn’t that bad.”

“I’m seriously surprised the mirror didn’t shatter.”

“Whatever,” she replied.

When my gaze zeroed in on the area directly above her cleavage, Emersyn shoved me. “Jeez, didn’t you get a good enough look a few minutes ago?”

“What are you talking about?”

“You’re staring at my boobs.”

I laughed. “Trust me, I’m not staring at your tits.”

“You could have fooled me,” she huffed, pulling the towel tighter against her.

“You still have the scar.”

“Excuse me?”

With my index finger, I motioned to the slightly discolored area below her collarbone. “The scar you got that time we were climbing trees.”

Emersyn’s eyes widened. “You remember that?”

“You scared the hell out of me. No lie. I can still hear the thump sound when you fell to the ground.”

Pinching her eyes shut, Emersyn began reliving the memory. “You were reaching your hand out to me when my foot slipped on the limb. A branch jabbed me in the chest as I fell. When I landed, it knocked the breath out of me.” Her eyes popped open as a small smile curved on her lips. “I’ll never forget the look on your face—you were pale as a sheet. The worst part was I couldn’t tell you I was all right.”

I grinned. “I’m not going to lie I probably pissed my pants a little that day.”

“Because you were worried our parents would kill you if you’d maimed me?” she teasingly asked.

“That was part of it.” I shook my head. “More than anything, I was worried I’d killed my best friend. I couldn’t imagine my life without you in it.”

“You really thought that?”

“I sure did.”

I froze when fresh tears pooled in her eyes. I couldn’t believe as hard as I was trying not to upset her, I had somehow managed to set her off. The next thing I knew she was throwing her arms around my neck and pressing herself against me. “Oh Eli, everyone should have a best friend as wonderful as you,” she murmured, her breath fanning against my ear.

After I brought my arms up to embrace her, something from the darkest recesses of my brain switched on. For the first time in my life, I noticed the soft curves of Emersyn’s body. The perfect way she fit against me. The way her breasts pillowed against my chest. The flow of her hair down her back. The sweet smell of her perfume. The silkiness of her skin.

It was everything a man would notice about a prospective lover.

It was everything I shouldn’t have noticed about Emersyn.

Clearing my throat, I quickly pulled away. “Anyway, I’m sorry about that day, and I’m sorry about bursting in on you.”

Emersyn gave me sweet smile. A chaste one she would give to her older brother or friend. “You’re forgiven.”

I jerked my thumb at my roost. “I’ll give you some privacy and let you finish getting ready.”

“You don’t have to do that.”

“No, no. I don’t mind.”

Before she could protest anymore, I turned on my heels and hurried down the hallway. After jerking aside the cover on my roost, I dove onto the mattress. As I lay back, I pinched my eyes shut. While it was probably crazy as hell, I began repeating in my mind, there is no way in hell I’m hot for Emersyn, there is no way in hell I’m hot for Emersyn, there is no way in hell I’m hot for Emersyn.

Nope. Nada. Not happening.

As the sheltered princess of Sector One, Maricela’s life is defined by duty: to her people and to her family. Her wealth and influence have allowed her to build a better world, but they come with a price—the responsibility to secure political stability with a practical marriage. Maricela cherishes the idea of marrying for love, but there’s not much romance in the endless line of suitors interested only in prestige and power.

And her handsome, brooding new bodyguard isn’t helping the situation.

Ivan is the perfect, deadly warrior, a man trained from childhood to be the ultimate protector to the Rios family. His focus on keeping her safe is intense–and a little intoxicating. When the threat of danger cracks his icy control, Maricela realizes she’s not the only one fighting against temptation.

Ivan knows that the blood on his hands makes him unworthy of the pure-hearted princess. But from the first kiss, their forbidden affair feels inevitable. He can give her a glimpse of life outside her gilded cage and a lover who wants the woman instead of the crown. The only thing he can never do is promise her forever.

Because spurning her noble suitors to marry her bodyguard wouldn’t just be a scandal. It could set off a political firestorm that would tear Sector One apart.

Review

Duty before Love…Love before Duty

That’s the situation that Maricela finds herself in as the princess of Sector One, and while her head understands the need to find a noble suitor who can ensure ‘political stability’ with a ‘practical marriage,’ her heart is tied up in her big, broody bodyguard who would gladly give up his life so that she remained unharmed, even if his death would destroy her as much as not following her heart seems to be doing.

Duty…

That’s a word that Ivan understands because it’s been drilled into his head since he was a young boy. He’s been trained his entire life to serve and protect the Rios family, and he has done so with stoicism, not allowing anything to break his concentration, assessing all potential threats and doing everything in his power to ensure the safety of those family members under his protection.

But even a controlled man like Ivan can lose his focus when the woman he has wanted is as close to him as she can be yet as off-limits as any woman has ever been. Ivan’s past has forced him to believe that he is unworthy of someone as beautiful and pristine as Maricela is, and those feelings of inadequacy force him to put her up on a pedestal, doing anything she asks of him, but what Maricela truly wants is not something Ivan can truly give her because of the dictates of the Sector as well as Maricela’s position as princess of Sector One.

The first two books in the Gideon’s Riders series have focused on the power struggles as well as the camaraderie of the mostly male crew, but in Maricela and Ivan’s story, Kit Rocha allows readers an intimate look into the female bonds that have been established in Sector One and how they seem to be each other’s lifeline in a male dominated and controlled environment. Maricela as well as the other women are strong, independent and willful despite the sheltered lives they seem to live and the constant protection by Gideon’s Riders.

What I loved most about Maricela is that she would be the first to say she’s led a charmed life…she’s wanted for nothing, and she is incredibly grateful for the life she’s been given, but it doesn’t mean that her life hasn’t felt like she’s lived in a ‘gilded cage,’ and that her thoughts and feelings, at times, have not only not been considered but actually ignored, proving just how little control she has of her own life and the decisions that truly matter to her.

The slow burn that surrounds Ivan and Maricela when it comes to their hidden feelings for one another is definitely at the forefront of the story, but there are other plot lines, as well, that help move the series forward, adding complications to the serenity of Sector One and putting Gideon in a rather tenuous position, leaving readers to wonder how the presumed power struggle will play out and what Gideon will do with the new facts that have been revealed.

Love before duty…that’s what Maricela wants…that’s what she can’t help but go after, but what that means for her position as princess as well as the entire dynamics of Sector One may be more than she or Ivan are willing to weather.

Excerpt

Gabe went into the master bedroom… He sat on the edge of his king-size bed and dug a small photo album out of his nightstand… Tucked inside was a sheet of Rhodia notepaper he’d folded in half three years ago that past February and hadn’t looked at since. He opened it now and wondered why he’d kept it. A cautionary tale? Hell if he knew.

The note was in two parts, one he’d written, one Felicity had written. He’d written his portion in black Sharpie pen. They were the only pens he used. He was tidy, and he had his rituals. Felicity had resisted anything smacking of order, at least back then.

Felicity,

Meetings in Boston. Back at 5 p.m. Company arrives at 6 p.m.

Hint.

Gabe

P.S. You know I’m right

Then her scrawl in blue Sharpie pen:

I made brownies for you and your “company.” They’re in the freezer.

Enjoy.

Felicity, financial analyst

P.S. We’ll see who’s right

He’d left her that morning scowling at him in his bathroom doorway, wrapped in a wet, threadbare towel. He could have afforded new towels even then, but he hadn’t seen the need. It’d been her fifth day sleeping on his couch, nursing her wounds after getting fired from yet another finance job. She had degrees and knew her stuff, but her heart wasn’t in the work. He’d told her so, not mincing words. Then he’d jotted the note and was on his way. By the time he returned, she’d cleared out of his apartment. She’d cleaned up her pizza boxes, collected her dirty dishes, folded the blankets she’d borrowed, put her sheets and towels in the washing machine and tidied up the bathroom.

His “company” had been a woman he’d invited over to watch a movie. She’d promptly discovered a stray pair of lacy bikini underpants Felicity had missed in the couch cushions, refused to believe his explanation and stormed out of his apartment before he’d had a chance to pour wine. He’d thrown out Felicity’s underpants—damned if he’d mail them to her—and opened the freezer. He’d figured he’d microwave a couple of brownies, drink the wine by himself and put the lousy day behind him. But there’d been no brownies, and he’d realized Felicity had never had any intention of making him brownies. She’d wanted him to open the freezer and not find any brownies.

Spite. Pure spite.

Seemed a bit childish now, but he supposed he’d had it coming.

He’d drunk the wine without brownies, without a date for the evening, without Felicity camped out on his couch with take-out pad thai or another pizza delivery. The next morning, he’d decided the ball was in her court. She was the one whose life was a mess, and he needed to respect what she wanted to do—needed to do. He’d had what he wanted and needed to do, too. He didn’t have time to hold Felicity’s hand through another mess. Nearly a week on his couch had proven that to him. She was a distraction, and he couldn’t afford distractions. Since she didn’t want or appreciate his advice, why push it with her?

And so he hadn’t. He’d let her go.

REVIEW BLITZ: SAVAGE PRINCE by Meghan March

SavagePrince availnowbanner Who knew things could get even darker and dirtier in New Orleans? New York Times bestselling author Meghan March introduces the Savage Prince of the city, the man you never want to meet.

I do what I want and who I want. I don’t follow anyone’s rules—even my own.
I knew I shouldn’t touch her, but it didn’t stop me.
Didn’t stop me the second time either. Only made me want a third.
My lifestyle suits the savage I am, and she doesn’t.
But Temperance Ransom is my newest addiction, and I’m nowhere near ready to quit her yet.
I’ll have her my way, even if it means dragging her into the darkness.
Hopefully it doesn’t kill us both.

Savage Prince is book one of the Savage Trilogy, set in the same world as Ruthless King, however you do not need to read the Mount Trilogy to devour this scandalously hot new story.

Review

There’s more to Temperance Ransom than she’s shown readers and the people she’s closest to in New Orleans, and while there’s a reason she has suppressed her adventurous side, it’s clear that her old self – the one who takes risks…who runs wild…who yearns for sexual kink – wants to come out and play, especially when a man whose name she doesn’t know makes her yearning ramp up and leaves her panties soaked from being controlled by his every word.

But Temperance has worked too hard to revert back to who she was before, so even though her body yearns for the mystery man, she’s going to need to decide if she’s wiling to risk her prim and proper existence to let loose the dirty girl that’s inside her – one that can’t help but want a man who makes her come harder and quicker than she ever has.

Meghan March has, once again, used her New Orleans’ setting to introduce her readers to the ‘darker and dirtier’ side of the Big Easy, and she adds to the intriguing mystery of a city that never seems to sleep by not offering up the identity of her newest alpha male. And while it’s not necessary to know his name to understand the kind of dangerous world he lives in, March doesn’t divulge many details about him either, which only seems to add to Temperance as well as readers’ desire to understand the man who seems to want a woman who just might not fit into his dark world.

Temperance and her mystery man’s story has only just begun and damn do I NEED more…more of the kink…more of Temperance’s contradictory characteristics…more of the past she’s fought so hard to suppress and most definitely more of the man who lives in the shadows – the one readers have yet to truly be introduced to because it’s not until the end of book 1 that he’s forced into the light.

Excerpt

“That you, Temperance?”

My gaze searches the darkness, interrupted only by the Chinese lanterns and fairy lights hanging from the trees, until it lands on the red dragon emblazoned on the back of a black silk kimono, topped by a fluffy white head of hair.

Shit. My landlady.

“I’m so sorry to disturb you, Harriet. I’ll just—”

She spins around, spry for her advanced age. “Oh, girl, you’ve got sex hair. At least that makes one of us.”

I squeeze my eyes shut in humiliation. “I . . . uh . . . got—”

“Done up right by a real man, I’d say. About damn time, girl. I was starting to think you were a lost cause of all work and no play. Almost wondered if I’d have to find a new tenant to get some entertainment around here.”

I blink twice as she shuffles toward me, fluffy pink marabou slippers on her feet. “You were going to kick me out because I work too much?”

I knew my landlady was a little nutty, but I didn’t realize she was downright crazy.

“It would’ve been a last resort. I was going to send you a male stripper first. Girl, you need some fun in your life, and you do nothing but go between here and work. Boring as hell.”

Her point is finally sinking in, but part of me is still in shock. “I’m boring?”

“Of course you are. I swear, you go out of your way to stay that way too. But not tonight. Tonight, you look like you got dicked down by a real man.” She takes a seat at the outdoor patio table and reaches for a bottle of wine. “Here’s a glass. Now, sit down and consider part of your rent spilling the juicy details.”

Dumbstruck, I close the distance between us and take a seat at the table. “It’s nothing. I swear.”

“Girl, you’re practically walking bowlegged. I’ve been around the block plenty of times. You won’t shock me.”

I reach for the glass of wine and take a long drink. Good Lord, I needed this.

“I shouldn’t even be admitting what I did tonight.”

Harriet’s aged eyes practically light up as she grins. “Those are the best stories. Come now, I’ll take it to the grave.”

I squeeze my eyes shut. “I think I accidentally went to a sex club.”

Harriet’s wineglass clinks the metal of the table. “I knew this was going to be good. How do you accidentally go to a sex club?”

I tell her about the note that came to the office, and rushing to meet the appointment, assuming I was there to sell whiskey . . . and end with the part about running from the room.

Harriet claps with childlike excitement. “There’s hope for you yet, Temperance. When are you going back?”

I’m stunned at her reaction. I didn’t exactly expect her to judge, but I sure didn’t think she’d cheer me on.

“Never. I can’t. That’s not me. I’m not . . .”

“Interesting? Sexually adventurous? Up to be manhandled regularly by a real man?”

“I don’t even know his name!”

Harriet waves off my concern. “If I had a nickel for every man whose name I didn’t know, I’d be even richer than I am now. You can’t take life so seriously. You’ll never make it out alive. Now, you go upstairs, take the rest of this bottle of wine, and get tipsy enough to forget all the shouldn’ts and can’ts. If you need me to do some stalking to find this guy, just let me know. I have connections.” SavageTrilogy banner

RELEASE BLITZ REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY: Avalanche by Cambria Hebert

Title: Avalanche

Series: Bearpaw Resort #1

Author: Cambria Hebert

Genre: Contemporary/Second Chance/Sports Romance

Release Date: March 26, 2018

Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/38619888-avalanche

Don’t get caught in the surge.

Through a bullet hole in a wall, I watch a man bleed to death.

Those responsible think their crime died with the victim, until I identify them.

What’s a girl to do when she’s being hunted by murderers

witness protection can’t even stop?

Run.

My only refuge is a place I vowed to never go again.

When it’s do or die, an eight-year-old heartache suddenly seems trivial.

Besides, he won’t be there anyway.

But he is.

Turns out my old pain feels brand new the second his eyes meet mine.

I can’t leave. I can’t stay.

This snowy town that’s supposed to be my shelter

suddenly exposes me more than before.

With no one else to lean on, Liam becomes my lifeline.

Now we’re both running for our lives,

trying not to get swept away.

Avalanche is the perfect title for the beginning of Bellamy and Liam’s story. Not only because it’s something that can occur on one of the slopes at BearPaw Resort, but also because both Bellamy and Liam’s lives have seemed to tumble and rapidly slide downhill since they parted ways eight years ago – Bellamy due to witnessing something that puts her life in danger and Liam due to an injury that sidelines him and forces him to head back home.

And just like the danger that exists during an avalanche, that’s what surrounds Bellamy’s life, and because she seeks refuge in the only place she’s found comfort, she brings that danger along with her, which forces Bellamy to not only confront an 8 year heartache due to Liam’s presence but also to learn to trust again because if she doesn’t have someone watching her back, she may not make it out alive.

Boy how I’ve missed Cambria Hebert’s writing and characters! It’s been a bit since I’ve read a Hebert story, and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to sign up for Avalanche’s book tour because it embodies all the romantic suspense qualities that I’ve come to, not only expect but adore, from Hebert.

Both Bellamy & Liam are such complex characters who continue to develop as they work through their past and what that means for their future. And even though both characters are overwhelmed with having each other back in their lives and perhaps having a second chance to get things right between them, what they must do is learn to trust one another again and find a way to keep safe while people are searching to silence Bellamy forever.

Avalanche is just the start of everything that happens to Bellamy & Liam as they reconnect and run for their lives, and I can’t wait to see where Hebert takes the storyline as well as her characters, and because readers are privy to both Bellamy and Liam’s perspective, we truly get to understand their thoughts, their fears, and their plan to protect one another and the second chance they have to be together.

Such a fantastic start! I’m dying to continue Bellamy & Liam’s story!
