Blurb

No last names. No life stories. Those were the rules.

Once upon a time a cocky, copper-haired tourist sauntered into Zara’s bar. And even though she knew better, Zara indulged in a cure for the small-town blues. It was supposed to be an uncomplicated fling—a few sizzling weeks before he went back to his life, and she moved on.

Until an accidental pregnancy changed her life.

Two years later, she’s made peace with the notion that Dave From Brooklyn will never be found. Until one summer day when he walks into her coffee shop, leveling her with the same hot smile that always renders her defenseless.

Hockey star Dave Beringer has never forgotten the intense month he spent with prickly Zara. Their nights together were the first true intimacy he’d ever experienced. But the discovery of his child is the shock of a lifetime, and his ugly past puts relationships and family out of reach.

Or does it? Vermont’s countryside has a way of nurturing even tortured souls. The fields and the orchards—and hard won love—are Bountiful.

Review

Bountiful describes an abundance of something, and it also depicts the idea of giving generously, and while Dave has no idea just how much of himself he gave to Zara when they spent a few weeks together, getting lost in each other’s body and living in the moment, even if it was for only a short amount of time, Zara feels an immense amount of gratitude to Dave for what he gave her and she revels in the bounty that they created together.

Since being introduced to Zara at the beginning of Sarina Bowen’s True North series, I’ve wanted to know her story…I’ve wanted to understand how her past choices put her in the situation she is now – a single mom who works her butt off to provide for her 15-month old daughter, Nicole, and one who doesn’t need a man to make her life whole because her daughter and her coffee shop fulfill her life and don’t let her down, which is always a possibility when dealing with a man.

But fate has other plans for Zara and Nicole and two years after Dave left Vermont to head back to his life of playing professional hockey, he discovers exactly what he left behind and while he’s absolutely terrified to be a father, he fights through the fear and works hard to overcome his hellish childhood, choosing to learn from his past and not make the same mistakes that made him believe that there was no such thing as a happy family.

Both Zara and Dave are incredibly guarded when it comes to relationships of any kind, but what they felt in their short time together only intensifies when they’re reunited and what they share between them is so much more than their adorable and sweet baby girl…they desire each other’s company just as much as they crave one another’s bodies, and while both aren’t quite sure how to make their newfound family work, due to Dave’s profession and the baggage that they both carry due to their pasts, it’s clear that both Zara and Dave want what’s developing between them, they just have to be willing to work through a series of issues and complications that threaten to unravel everything they’re building.

Zara and Dave’s story was everything I wanted it to be – Zara held steadfast to her feisty and independent personality, but she also opened herself up a bit more once Dave returned to her life and showed her that he wanted to be a part of his daughter’s life even if it scared the hell out of him. Dave is definitely a swoon worthy hero, and Sarina Bowen does an excellent job of illustrating where Dave’s issues stem from and why it’s going to be an uphill battle for him once he finds he has a little girl.

I enjoyed witnessing Zara and Dave’s transformations as their daughter became the focal point of both their lives and while there is a bit of angst and conflict that they must traverse through, all realistically depict the circumstances that these two find themselves in and the resolve they need to use in order to fight for their little family – one that is so much different and better than anything they had themselves.

Sarina Bowen’s True North series continues to be one of flawless storytelling and fantastic character development. The little Vermont town that Bowen uses as her setting is charming and breathtaking – the perfect spot for the characters to find some peace and quiet in order to realize what’s most important in life. I love that Bowen allows the Shipley family to still play an important role in the main characters’ lives and the fact that she interconnects several of her characters from her other series into the plot line of Bountiful makes it that much more enjoyable.

COVER REVEAL: RIPPLES by Aleatha Romig

ARE YOU READY FOR MORE TONY RAWLINGS?

RIPPLES IS COMING ON OCTOBER 31!

You don’t have to read the Consequences series to enjoy this stand-alone novel, but if you know Tony Rawlings, you know that disappointing him isn’t an option. Imagine being his youngest daughter…imagine telling him the unimaginable…

“Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.”

Sometimes ideas find you, and dreams begin as nightmares. Sometimes the truth that has been kept hidden is the key to opening a door you never knew existed.

“You might not know me. I’m the baby of the Rawlings family, the princess, the daughter who came along later. I’m not like my older siblings, successful at everything they touch. My mother and father have provided me with every luxury as well as their unyielding love and support, but I’m not spoiled. I’m also not content. By example, my parents have shown me how love should be. I don’t know their past, and that doesn’t matter. I know what I’ve seen—two people devoted to one another.

I don’t believe that I’ll ever find that kind of love, the kind that forgives and accepts all. And as my life falls to pieces and I travel to visit my family to face their disappointment, I’m not even looking for it.

I’m looking for an escape…from my life as a Rawlings…from the pressure to achieve and not let others down. I dream of the time I can live for my own desires without the expectations that come with my name.

I don’t find what I’m seeking…it finds me. Or should I say…he finds me.

This time is different. I have a family who will search for me and find the answers. Little do we know—any of us—that my father set my journey into motion long before I was born.”

“Just as ripples spread out when a single pebble is dropped into water, the actions of individuals can have far-reaching effects.” ~Dalai Lama

Ripples (Unabridged Version) is Natalie’s story, the youngest of Tony and Claire’s children—their baby. This story first appeared in shorter form in Glamour: Contemporary Fairytale Retellings. Due to the length restriction of each novella in that anthology, many scenes in Ripples were shortened or omitted for that anthology. This unabridged edition is the entire story—double in length and—a full-length novel.

Please enjoy this Consequences novel along with special appearances from your favorite Consequences characters.

Review

Bruised. Battered. Broken.

Devastated. Destroyed. Detached.

All of these words describe how Gabriel Dalton and Eloise ‘Ellie’ Cates felt or continue to feel due to their traumatic pasts. These two characters had to endure more as children than other individuals may experience in a lifetime, but despite the debilitating pain and haunted memories that still exist in their psyche and in some ways still control their present actions, Gabriel and Ellie continue to endure, hoping and praying that they’ll find their way out of the darkness or that someone will come into their lives who will be able to set them free…enough to live a full life instead of merely existing.

Some readers will, understandably, have a difficult time with Ellie’s icy demeanor and detached personality, even when it comes to Gabriel’s interest in her, but I can’t blame Ellie for the hardened person she’s become…to be surrounded by people who simply use and abuse you while continuing to deal with the aftermath of a deplorable past, she has every right to be on guard…to question everyone’s motive…to keep everyone at a distance because she’s afraid of getting hurt again.

Mia Sheridan characterized Gabriel perfectly. He needed to be a strong hero in order to combat his past as well as help Ellie deal with her personal struggles. Gabriel is just as broken as Ellie is, but he found ways to work through his fears and his devastation, creating beauty with his hands as well as his heart. Through his creativity and his gentle soul, Gabe finds an outlet for all of the blackness that threatens to consume him and that, in turn, allows him to reach out to Ellie and shower her with everything she needs and deserves. Gabriel’s attentive and loving nature is what finally breaks through to Ellie, proving to her that some people can be taken at face value and that sometimes it’s okay to take down the wall and allow someone to show them exactly what they need to learn to trust and love again.

A soothing balm to ease away the heartbreak and the devastation that consumed their lives…that’s the journey that Mia Sheridan takes Gabe and Ellie as well as readers on in Most of All You. And, while that path is not a smooth one because the trauma and circumstances of their respective pasts continue to make their presence known, Gabriel’s silent and empowering strength slowly become essential to Ellie’s fight for self-confidence and self-respect and because of all that Gabe gives to her, they’re able to combat their bad memories together. And, even when the past threaten to undo the progress they’ve made, not only as individuals but as a couple, that’s when all that Gabe is thwarts any attempt at stripping the most essential person away from him.

There’s something special about Mia Sheridan’s ability to craft stories that allow readers to experience a multitude of varying emotions each and every time they read one of her books. Each text overwhelms readers with strong notions of both sympathy and empathy and her characters failures, struggles, and successes all resonate with her reading audience because she truly has a pulse on what truly matters to contemporary romance readers…that being poignant stories that threaten to break readers’ hearts as Sheridan’s characters experience abhorrent levels of pain and then work tirelessly to mend what was broken in both realistic and satisfying ways.

And, to me, that’s the kind of storyteller I’d gladly read over and over again.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW: FROM THIS MOMENT by Melanie Harlow

From This Moment, an all-new sexy and emotional standalone from USA Today Bestselling author Melanie Harlow is LIVE!

MHFromThisMomentBookCover5x8_BW_300.jpg

From This Moment by Melanie Harlow

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Publishing Date: October 10th, 2017

It was like seeing a ghost.

When my late husband’s twin brother moves back to our small town, I want to avoid him. Everything about Wes reminds me of the man I lost and the life we’d planned together, and after eighteen long months struggling just to get out of bed, I’m finally doing okay. I have a new job, an amazing support group, and a beautiful five-year-old daughter to parent. I don’t want to go backward.

But I’m drawn to him, too. He understands my grief and anger and guilt like no one else—and I understand his. Before long, that understanding becomes desire, and that desire becomes uncontrollable.

He says he doesn’t care what people think, and love can never be wrong. But life has taught me its cruelest lesson–love doesn’t always win.

If only my heart would believe it.

Review

There are defining moments in everyone’s lives and for Hannah and Wes, the day Wes returns home sets in motion an array of overwhelming and unexpected feelings – ones that are as painful as they are empowering and ones that no-one can truly understand because the situation that Hannah and Wes find themselves in is not something anyone could have ever anticipated, which makes what occurs quite contradictory, making Hannah and Wes’ blossoming relationship both taboo and essential.

Melanie Harlow does an amazing job of illustrating how Hannah processes her grief and how her life becomes all about protecting and loving her daughter despite how heartbroken she is. Hannah is an incredible heroine who is always clear on who she is and what she wants despite how others treat her, especially when they realize that Hannah is trying to move on, and the person who does her damnedest to crucify Hannah for her choices is her ex-mother-in-law. I don’t think I could have handled that woman as gracefully as Hannah does and while her mother-in-law’s barb do puncture her at times, Hannah does her best to remain untainted by that witch’s judgments, which is how she can endure all that nastiness that is thrown her way.

Wes is quite the enigma. Harlow paints him as a protective, gentle, and honorable man and while he is all of those things, he also likes control and likes to dominate Hannah in the bedroom, which is a side to Wes that comes out in only certain situations and damn are those moments HOT!

Hannah and Wes’ story is consumed with angst due to who they were to one another in the past and who they’re becoming to men to each other in the present…the past is a heavy burden for both of them and it’s difficult to forget who held Hannah’s heart first, but it’s clear that once Hannah comes to terms with how she feels for Wes, she does her best to live in the present, no longer dwelling on what she lost but enjoying what she’s found when she least expected it.

From the moment Hannah and Wes reconnected, their friendship started to heal their wounds and free them from their respective pasts. Both of them needed to understand that the only opinions that truly mattered were their own and the little girl who owns their heart, and while both Hannah and Wes make some decisions that make things difficult, it’s made clear that they’ll weather the heartbreak, the pain, and the judgments together as a united front, continuing to move forward despite other’s plans to keep them in the past.

The heart wants what the heart wants, regardless of judgmental attitudes, guilty thoughts, or feelings of betrayal, and in Melanie Harlow’s newest release, From This Moment, this idea is tragically and beautifully illustrated, forcing characters and readers down an emotional and angst-driven path – one that proves that new love can be found even after extraordinary loss and that a man who in many ways is identical to the one who left this world can be the soothing and healing balm that’s needed to start living and feeling again.

Such a beautiful and emotional story!

RELEASE WEEK BLITZ: REVIEW, EXCERPT, AND GIVEAWAY: DIGNITY by Jay Crownover

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Jay Crownover returns with the second title in her romantic suspense series, The Breaking Point, DIGNITY.

Check out the excerpt below and grab your copy today!

About DIGNITY

Looks can be deceiving.

I knew that most people took one look at the ink and the impossibly big and strong body it covered and decided I was a brawler…a bruiser…a beast. However, I was hardwired to be a thinker, not a fighter.

I should have chosen to use my brain and talents to be one of the good guys, a hero, a man with dignity and worth.

I turned my back on dignity and sold my soul to the highest bidder, deciding to dance with the devil, instead.

I couldn’t figure out how to help myself, so there was zero chance I knew how to save someone else.

That someone else was Noe Lee. She was the unkempt, unruly thief who was just as smart as I was and twice as street savvy. She was annoyingly adorable beneath the dirt and grime, and she was in trouble. In way over her head, I told myself it wasn’t my job to keep her from drowning. In the Point, it was sink or swim, and I wasn’t the designated lifeguard on duty.

I shut the door in her face, but now she’s gone…vanished…disappeared without a trace. It took less than a second for me to realize that I wanted her back.

When a woman comes along that melts all the frozen, hard things you’re made of; you’ll do anything you have to, to bring her home.

What you see is not always what you get…and with a man like me, what you get is more than anyone ever bargained for.

DIGNITY is now available! Grab your copy today!

Review

The word dignity is defined as “the state or quality of being worthy of honor or respect.” And while many of the major players in the Point live rather questionable lives, tending to follow their own set of rules regardless of the legality of such acts, these are also the people who use their ‘powers’ for good when they see injustice and mistreatment occur, working diligently to take down those who do not have the Point or its citizens in their best interest, only working for personal gain and harming innocent victims in the process.

Readers met Sawdon Stark in Nassir and Keelyn’s story where Stark sold his soul to the devil in order to gain even a small amount of redemption for his sins, and while we aren’t privy to what makes Stark work for the wrong side of the law, it was clear, even in the small glimpses that we received, that the inner workings of who Stark truly is and what he’s truly capable of remained hidden, perhaps even from the devil himself, so I couldn’t wait to get Stark’s story and the heroine who Jay Crownover matches him with is the PERFECT girl to get this computer genuis’ heart working again, mending what’s broken and ensuring the malfunctions don’t consume him.

Noe Lee is one hell of an amazing heroine. Her back story is heartbreaking but she remains strong and independent despite the struggles she endures, and it’s her never quit attitude that has allowed her to remain hidden, helping those who need her while also making sure she covers her tracks so that her past doesn’t try to break her. She and Stark may not have initially met under the best of circumstances, but once Stark works every angle to rescue her after he shut the door in her face when she asked for help, their connection flourishes not only because of how in tune their brains are but also because they accept one another for who they are and only want what the other is willing to give when everyone else is out to use them for their own personal gains.

The way that Jay Crownover characterizes Stark allows readers to truly understand why he’s made the conscience decision to suppress his intelligence, only revealing so much of himself to Nassir and the other ‘bad guys’ of the Point who he helps. The idea that Stark and most others see him as more of a machine than a human being speaks to what he’s had to do in order to shut down the emotions that could get him in trouble. His lack of a functional heart is a deliberate choice due to events of his past that he deems as his fault, and while his cold and dark demeanor allows him to remain under the radar, he can’t and he doesn’t want to hide himself from Noe because what they’re building together is something that will unthaw his heart and allow Noe to rely on somebody other than herself for the first time in years.

The Point itself continues to be so much more than a setting for Jay Crownover’s Breaking Point series; the city hides many illegal and compromising acts from the public eye, working behind the scenes of squalor in order to thwart any possible power plays from the so-called good guys when it comes to hurting those who should remain untouched.

Jay Crownover unequivocally proves that being smart is sexy in Dignity and what she also clearly illustrates is that her Boy Genius  and her Little Thief deserve to hold their heads high and revel in their own personal dignity because what they have endured and risen above is not something that most people would be able to do and with each other by their side, they’ve come out of the shadows and into one another’s light.

Excerpt

I was dragging ass when I took the stairs up to Booker’s unit. Typically, I could run up the three flights and not even get winded, but I was running on fumes and the last traces of adrenaline. My brain was fuzzy, and my normally sharp thoughts felt scattered and unruly. The past and the present were at war in my mind, and the battle for which one made me feel worse was raging.

I made my way through the quiet loft listening for any sound that would indicate Noe was up and moving around. When I got closer to the bedroom, I heard the shower running and swear words chasing the steam out of the open door. It was going to be painful for a while when the water sluiced over her wounds. The thought had me squeezing my eyes closed and clenching my hands into fists. Just because tough things didn’t break didn’t mean they couldn’t be damaged, dented, and scratched. The fact Noe was currently suffering so much wear and tear because of me scraped across my skin and dug into my belly like sharp knives.

I was turning to walk out of the room so she could finish in peace when the running water went silent and her swearing ramped up a notch. I heard her banging around in the bathroom and then she yelled, “Booker, I need a towel! I’m dripping all over your floor.”

I opened my mouth to tell her Booker was gone and that I would go find her one. I didn’t need her poking through his stuff and running across a submachine gun or a rocket launcher. My brain was ping-ponging between annoyance that she’d called for Booker instead of me and the unrelenting image of her, naked, wet, and dripping onto the tile. I wasn’t a guy prone to fantasy, but damn if I didn’t get all kinds of caught up in the thought of her pretty olive skin glistening with moisture from head to toe. I needed to get away from her. I needed space so I could find a way to wrap armor back around all the soft parts of me she exposed.

I was shaking my head to marshal my thoughts back in order when I heard her swear again. Suddenly, like I conjured her out of a dream, Noe was standing in the pocket doorway of the bathroom wearing nothing more than a scowl of irritation and shimmery, shiny water droplets. Her midnight-colored eyebrows shot up to her hairline, and a bright pink flush stained the top of her chest and crawled up her neck into her face. She didn’t lift her hands to cover herself. She stood as still as I was, not moving at all under my furious and hungry gaze.

I wanted to be polite and look away. I told myself it was rude to stare and that the last thing she needed was some guy she barely knew gawking at her like she was a priceless work of art on a museum wall. I berated myself for this invasion of privacy but none of the lecturing or preaching did any good. The only way I could have torn my eyes off that petite frame, with it’s perfectly perky breasts and slightly rounded hips, was if someone slapped them out of my head. I couldn’t blink. I was scared to breathe. I felt like if I moved at all she would bolt like a startled deer, and I needed another second, another minute, another hour, to memorize every single part of her.

She was small, but all the parts added up to perfection. Seeing her like this, stripped bare with nothing to hide behind, I couldn’t believe I’d ever been stupid enough think she was a boy. Everything about her was delicate, feminine, and soft. The hollow of her neck, the elegant curve of her shoulders, the flare of her hips and the fullness of her ass. Her legs weren’t long, but they were toned and shapely. She was the very definition of good things coming in small packages and all I wanted to do was wrap her up and put her on a shelf that was too high and too hard to reach for anyone but me.

Choking on possession and a surge of lust unlike anything I’d ever felt, I belatedly turned my back on her and muttered thickly, “I used all the towels in there last night when I cleaned you up. I’ll go find where Booker keeps the extras.”

She moved. I felt it. The current that ran between us pulsed and throbbed with something hot. I heard her bare feet on the carpet and it took every ounce of willpower I possessed to keep my feet planted and my back turned. She was naked in a room with a very big bed and I was a man who never had such a visceral reaction to anyone…ever. If I had a switch, Noe Lee was the only person who had ever come along and flipped it. I was the actual definition of turned on when I had been off for most of my life.
