THE LEARNING HOURS

How to Date a Douchebag Book 3

By Sara Ney

Release Day: September 26, 2017

Standalone

Synopsis

He’s not a douchebag; but that doesn’t stop his friends from turning him into one.

MY FRIENDS WANT ME TO GET LAID.

So much so that they plastered my ugly mug all over campus, in bold printed letters:

Are you the lucky lady who’s going to break our roommate’s cherry?
Him: socially awkward man with average-sized penis looking for willing sexual partner. You: must have a pulse. He will reciprakate with oral. Text him at: 555-254-5551

The morons can’t even spell. And the texts I’ve been receiving are what wet dreams are made of. But I’m not like these douchebags, no matter how hard they try to turn me into one.

THIS ISN’T THE KIND OF ATTENTION I WANT.

One text stands out from hundreds. One number I can’t bring myself to block. She seems different. Hotter, even in black and white.

However, after seeing her in person, I know she’s not the girl for me. But my friends won’t let up–they just don’t get it. Douchebags or not, there’s one thing they’ll never understand: GIRLS DON’T WANT ME.

Especially her.

Review

The Learning Hours is an apt name for Sara Ney’s newest Douchebag release because throughout the entire story, both the hero and the heroine learn about themselves, about each other, and about a multitude of life’s most difficult topics and for every lesson taught and new information learned, the characters redefine themselves according to their acquired knowledge, changing the way they feel about themselves and hopefully giving them a chance to take a chance regardless of the unknown outcome.

When Sara Ney introduces the hero and heroine in The Learning Hours, it’s unclear as to how or if they’ll match up; physically, they seem to be complete opposites and their personalities also seem too contradictory, but as Ney unravels her main characters’ true natures and allows them to be themselves as the slow burn of their friendship and then relationship begins, it’s made quite clear that these two genuine and passionate people are more alike than anyone sees, and as their connection progresses, there’s not a single doubt in readers’ minds that what started out as a series of awkward texts has turned into a lifeline for both of them…one that wholeheartedly proves that what’s inside someone is way more important than a person’s physical appearance.

I’m all for douchebag heroes, especially those who clearly change because of their leading ladies, but there’s something about the odd man out…the ugly duckling if you will…the one who doesn’t quite seem to fit in…the one who’s broken in ways his friends can’t seem to recognize or to even understand, and as he opens up…as his allows the heroine to truly know him, he realizes that he may be a bit fractured, but she might be able to help him come out of his shell and realize his true worth.

Some readers might need some time to warm up to the heroine, but I think she’s presented that way on purpose…I think Nay wants readers to have to work to see what the leading man and woman can mean to each other so that when it happens…when it all comes together the way they wanted it to, readers can feel like the characters worked for their happiness and thus deserve to experience it fully.

Sara Ney is one hell of a storyteller…she writes in a way that readers absolutely EXPERIENCE the story as it unfolds…they EXPERIENCE the angst, the conflicted feelings, and the emotional turmoil that saturates the text in the best ways possible, and while sometimes the emotional upheaval can be frustrating and exhausting, it proves just how engrossed in the story Ney allows or maybe forces readers to be because it’s just that damn good!

Review

As two of the twelve Masters at Blasphemy, a BDSM club, Jonathan Allen and Cruz Ramos are no strangers to the more unconventional and erotic sides of foreplay and sex and because of the tight bond that they’ve shared since their Navy days, the fact that one of their kinks is sharing women isn’t surprising.

But while there’s never really been an issue before, Hartley Farren, a

ménage virgin, could be a game changer because neither expected to want her as badly as they do nor did it ever cross their minds to create something permanent out of the opportunity they took advantage of when Hartley came to them for help.

The fact that Hartley has never been with two men at once doesn’t deter her from trying it, and once she starts, she doesn’t want to stop because she finds herself consumed by these two men in the most delicious and passionate ways, unwilling to give up all that they give her and hoping that, despite the unique machinations of their relationship, there’s a way to have them both each and every day.

What intrigues me the most about a ménage à trois relationship is just how cohesive the connection is and how they take care of each other’s every need, regardless if it is in the bedroom or outside of it. I’m fascinated with the whole dynamics of the relationship and the implicit trust that those involved seem to have in one another in order for their atypical bond to excel instead of implode.

I really enjoyed Theirs to Take, but I do have to admit that I wanted more backstory about the three main characters. I didn’t feel like I truly understood who Jonathan, Cruz, and Hartley are as individuals because the focus was on who they are to each other and how their threesome works for all of them, not specifically on who they were and what that means for who they are now and what could, if anything, possibly interfere with what they’re building.

Despite my need for a bit more character development, Jonathan, Cruz, and Hartley’s story was an incredibly sensual and sexual read and the fact that readers had the opportunity to check in with past couples is always something we love about series, and it was great to catch up with some of the other Blasphemy couples and see just how far they’ve come and where they’re headed.

From Laura Kaye:

I’m thrilled to be celebrating the release of my super hot and emotional Theirs to Take, the next erotic standalone romance in my Blasphemy series, about the twelve Masters who run and play at Baltimore’s most exclusive club. Theirs to Take is a sexy ménage about what happens when two prior navy best friends and business partners meet a woman who makes them admit to desires they’ve never before voice. I think you’re going to love Jonathan and Cruz! I know I adored writing them! Even more fun, there are characters and scenes in Theirs to Take that cross over with the amazing Jennifer Probst’s brand new Reveal Me – and the best part is that both are standalones so you can dive right in!

Now, read in for a taste of Theirs to Take…

Excerpt

“Are they like you?” Hartley asked her friend, Scarlett, who’d recently joined the club called Blasphemy that she’d learned Jonathan and Cruz owned.

“A submissive, you mean?” When Hartley nodded, Scarlett said, “No. They’re Dominants. They like to control the scenes and their partners’ pleasure. Master Jonathan and Master Cruz are alphas through and through.” Scarlett gave her a teasing smirk.

“Master…” Hartley murmured, trying out the word. Aided by her friend’s commentary, her brain offered up all kinds of unhelpful imaginings. Her, on her knees, Jonathan standing over her. Or would it be Cruz? Being pulled over one of their laps, her ass in the air, hands stroking her. But whose hand? Gah. This was a full-on trip to crazytown. “Um, okay.”

Just then, the waiter arrived with their appetizer, but Hartley was too gobsmacked to think about food. As Scarlett forked a piece of mozzarella onto her plate, she looked like the cat that ate the canary. “There’s more.”

“How can there be more?” She almost didn’t want to know. No, scratch that, she really wanted to know. “What kind of more?”

“Take another sip,” Scarlett said, chuckling and tapping at the rim of her wine glass.

Hartley didn’t resist. She took a big drink, her heart racing, her head spinning, just a little, because she’d skipped breakfast this morning.

“Hartley, Jonathan and Cruz do scenes together.”

“Oh.” Her shoulders fell. “So they’re a couple?” Man, that was…kinda disappointing. She totally got it, though. They were beautiful men. Best friends. Had served in the military together and now were business partners. It made sense that they could be together romantically. But, damn, she’d read that flirtation all wrong, hadn’t she?

And hell if that disappointment she was feeling didn’t reveal a thing or two…

Scarlett shook her head. “No, well, maybe. I don’t know. There’s some speculation around the club that there might be something romantic between them. But what I mean is, they do scenes together. Both of them with the same submissive. At one time. You know, like, ménage à trois.”

It was a good thing Hartley had just swallowed, because otherwise she might’ve done a cartoon-like spit take. Heat roared through her body. Because those imaginings she’d just done…that question she’d just asked herself about which one would be starring in those fantasies with her…now she had her answer. They might not make her choose.

“That is the…hottest, craziest thing I’ve ever heard in my whole life,” Hartley managed, her brain possibly shorting out at the thought. Both of them. Together. At the same time. Jonathan’s golden-boy good looks. Cruz’s dark, intensity. At. The. Same. Time.

“Witty dialogue, fun dates, and a deliciously nerdy hero all match perfectly with a heroine who doesn’t really know she needs all that until it’s right there in front of her. Lauren Blakely has another winner with this one!”

~Crystal, Bookseller

Excerpt

What am I doing?

Dylan is my client’s brother.

Dylan is now my client.

I’m not interested in a match for myself. I’m not looking for love. I’m focused on work, and Dylan is my work.

The trouble is, my work turns me on more than I expected, and that’s for one elemental reason—I like him.

I like him so very much.

That’s why I jerk this conversation back to the purpose of these get-togethers—prepping him for his princess charming, whoever she may be.

I brush one palm against the other. “The big question is—are you ready for me to set you up on your first date? Or do you think the fall in yoga has set you back?” I wink.

“You think falling in yoga means I’m not ready to date?”

I laugh. Nervously. “Well, not entirely. But it did remind me what we talked about before we had tea. That we all have a bit of dork in us. So, I didn’t know if you wanted to walk through all the potential topics, moments, pitfalls, and so on.”

“Like a pre-date prep? Or maybe even a practice session?”

“Sure, we can practice now if you’d like,” I offer.

He doesn’t answer right away. When he does, he takes his time, like he’s making an offer. “Or maybe we can practice in a true date simulation.”

Tingles race over my shoulders. “Like a practice date?”

His eyes twinkle like stars. “I need a practice date badly. Can I take you on one? It would be so helpful to review everything. Make sure I’m ready.”

When he puts it like that… “Yes, of course.”

I want him to put his best foot forward. I didn’t say yes because I want to date him. I wouldn’t do that, even though when he walks away, all I can think is how on earth did I wind up with a pitter-pattering heart for a man I’m handing off to another woman?

“Warning: You will get addicted to the DRUG that is Lauren Blakely’s writing!!!”

~Karen, Bookalicious Babes Blog

Review

Once upon a time, there was an author whose stories managed to make readers swoon, laugh, and sigh on almost every single page as she allowed her heroes and heroines’ voices to be heard by a multitude of romance readers – those of us who love romantic comedies and who adore quirky, irresistible male and female leads who allow us a bit of escapism and a whole lot of feel good moments to revel in from the beginning of each story all the way to its ending.

This author also has the uncanny ability to create an entire supporting cast of characters who are dynamic characters in their own right…those who help their friends and family members recognize what’s right in front of them, even if it takes some manipulation and stealthy moves to get them headed in the right direction, and Lauren Blakely’s newest release, Stud Finder, definitely illustrates her ability to write multifaceted characters and story lines as well as add in a few unexpected twists that even Grimm himself would enjoy, even if Blakely’s a whole lot lighter and sexier in tone and situations than he is!

Stud Finder has a multitude of connotative meanings, but in Evie and Dylan’s story, it describes Evie’s profession…a job that she loves and a way for her to help those in need of some guidance when it comes to finding Mr. or Mrs. Right. As a stud finder, Evie vets all potential suitors for her clients and matches them up with the most compatible options, hopefully putting in motion a relationship that will not only lead to satisfied customers but happily ever afters as well.

I’m a huge fan of sexy nerds and Dylan Parker is exactly that! He may be a bit of a departure from Blakely’s usual heroes, but that’s what I adore about him. Dylan is who he is and even though he logically understands that there are things about him that might turn the opposite sex off, what he also knows is there’s a woman out there who will accept him for who he is and revel in his eccentric qualities because those are the ones that make him funny, adventurous, and honest. The fact that he’s one hell of a hottie doesn’t hurt, but it’s more so his personality that endears him to readers and to Evie, which might not be helpful on a business front, but it does wonders for her non-existent attraction to her male counterpart.

Evie doesn’t quite fit the mold of Blakely’s heroines either, but, once again, it’s not going to be her standard female lead who fits with Dylan. She’s one heck of a matchmaker for everyone but herself and that works for her because she’s passionate about what she does and who she helps and while she doesn’t seem to use her skills for the good of herself, when she’s with Dylan, she finds herself fighting her own attraction to him and wondering just how bad for business it would be to pursue something with a client she no longer wants to help find his match because she wants to be it.

Everything about Stud Finder worked for me…its characters, the pace of the story line, the characters’ overthinking. All parts of the text fit who Dylan and Evie are and just how oblivious they both seem to be when it comes to what they want for themselves. Getting inside Dylan and Evie’s heads allows readers to truly understand how they see themselves and why they second guess things and seem surprised with certain situations. Nothing seemed contrived or overdramatic in the story and the fact that their happily ever after comes about the way it does proves that sometimes Fate needs a little push when it comes to deciding who should be with whom and making it happen.

She makes him WANT things.

Things Finn hasn’t wanted in a very very long time.

Finn WANTS Sawyer gone.

Almost as much as he wants her in his BED.

The Outskirts is Book One in the Outskirts Duet.

Review

The small, abandoned town that T.M. Frazier creates as the setting of her newest duet The Outskirts is a perfect place for secrets to hide in its swamp lands and it’s the exact kind of isolation that Finn Hollis’ life demands after everything spiraled out of his control, leaving him a tortured and broken man – one who has used the desolate and sullen areas of the Outskirts to bury his memories as well as the life he’ll never have again, which is absolutely fine by him because he refuses to endure any further heartache or emotional pain.

But what Finn’s not prepared for is the intriguing woman who moves in next door to him – one who has her own secrets and her own reasons for fleeing to a place where she can not only begin anew but also hideaway from a deplorable man who only lives to control and abuse her, so as much as Finn may want to stop the emotional connection he feels with his new neighbor, it’s impossible to do so because Sawyer Dixon’s  innocence and warmth have bore into his soul, and he knows he’ll never be the same again.

Even though Finn and Sawyer escaped to the Outskirts for varying purposes, T.M. Frazier does a fantastic job of illustrating just how much their differences pull them towards one another despite their best efforts to stay away. And, regardless of their initial reactions and even the knowledge that they’re probably each better off not embarking on a new relationship due to their harrowing pasts, their souls seem to call to one another, requesting they be a part of something that’s so much bigger than themselves and seems to be essential to bring Finn back into the land of the living and Sawyer into a life worth living.

The Outskirts is more than a book about two strangers who seem to find solace in a place that many would never venture because as Frazier wields her pen and introduces readers to who Finn and Sawyer are, what drives them, and what endears them to one another, we experience EVERYTHING that these two characters show us and even things that Finn and Sawyer haven’t realized about themselves yet that Frazier expertly illustrates throughout the course of the text and that help readers predict how the second part of their story will play out and what it will costs Finn and Sawyer in the end.

I never know exactly which way T.M. Frazier is going to take her characters and consequently her readers when I start one of her books; things can get jacked up pretty quickly in her stories and/or she builds up to periods of absolute chaos and darkness to the point where readers expect something to go down, but those expectations don’t even seem to compare to the black moments that her hero/heroine must endure at the hands of their own deviant and reprehensible behavior or at the hands of a few sadistic fiends who get off on torture and mayhem.

And as much as I shouldn’t admit it…I can’t wait for every deliciously dark and messed up moment of what’s to come for Finn and Sawyer!

Excerpt

Sawyer

My throat tightened and a heaviness grew in my chest like my heart didn’t know whether to beat faster or stop beating altogether. “Did you leave me all this to show me the life you could’ve had, but didn’t? Why!?” I pounded the wheel again and then again, and again and again until my vision was blurry and all I could see was the redness of my own heated rage. “You’re a fucking coward! You fucking COWARD!” I screamed to no one, pounding on the wheel until the skin across my knuckles split and blood dripped between my fingers.

Strong hands bit into my biceps, yanking me from the cab. I was spun around by my shoulders and found myself face to face with Finn. “I like it when you swear,” he said, pressing close.

“Finn, get off me! Get off me! Let me go!” I wailed, struggling to free myself from his grip. Kicking out my legs only to connect with the air as he evaded my every move.

A growl tore from his throat. Finn picked me up and walked me to the back of the truck, setting me on the open tailgate. He pushed himself between my legs and hovered over me to keep me from leaping off.

“Let me go,” I demanded, pushing at his hard chest. “I don’t have time for your broodiness right now.”

Finn held my wrists together with one hand. “No, of course you don’t. You’re too busy tearing up pictures and screaming at no one.”

“Let me go,” I repeated.

“No,” he said between clenched teeth.

“Just go! Leave me alone. Leave meeeeeee!” I wailed as I pounded against his stone chest.

“You don’t want to hit me,” he warned, his eyes hardened.

“Then let me go.”

“Why?” He stepped in closer, unaffected by my attempt to fight against him. My inner thighs were touching his outer thighs.

“Because she did!” I screamed, my eyes sprang open to find his cold blue gaze. “She could have run anywhere and taken me with her. Instead she left him but she left me too. She was a coward who couldn’t make the right decision and I love her. I love her…but I hate her. I hate her so much…so…” I was interrupted when Finn’s lips pressed against mine, momentarily rendering me stupid. I pointed my toes toward the sky to avoid my initial instinct which was to wrap my legs around him. It was so consuming that I momentarily forgot to fight him off, but I didn’t need to, he pulled his lips from mine.

“Stop doing that,” I said. I pushed him off but he stayed between my legs, his hands on my bare back just under the hem of his big t-shirt I was wearing. His gaze hardened. I could see the conflict written in his lined forehead and the deep V between his eyes. I had no doubt the conflict had everything to do with me.

And kissing me.

“It’s your fault that I do it,” Finn said, his voice deep and smooth against my chin and then my neck.

“So that’s your plan? Kiss me every time you want to shut me up?” I asked, still feeling every bit of my anger but also feeling something else. Something that sent tingles between my legs and an ache in my core. “Thank you for saving me. Really. Thank you. I appreciate it,” my voice cracked. “But you can just leave me alone now. And please, STOP kissing me.” My words a whisper.

“I’m going to kiss you whenever I want to kiss you,” Finn stated as if I didn’t have a say in the matter.

The early morning sunlight highlighted the beads of sweat trickling from his shoulders down his broad chest and across the valleys of his defined abs. He was standing so close that we were breathing in each other’s air.

“Whenever you want to kiss me?” I laughed. “I don’t understand you. I don’t understand any of this. You’re always mad at me. Why did you save me? Why do you keep kissing me when you’re always mad at me?”

“It’s when I’m pissed off at you that I want to kiss you the most,” Finn said, his voice flowing over my skin like a silky blanket. He slid me closer so I could feel the outline of his rigid erection as if he were proving a point. He lowered his lips to mine and consumed my mouth in a greedy kiss that had me shaking with need and spinning with confusion.

“Do you always kiss everyone you hate?” I asked, yanking my lips from his.

“Does this feel like hate to you?” he growled pushing his hard length between my legs.

Tension roiled between us. That tether pulled taut. Drawing us closer. I swallowed around it and reached for the latch. He was quick to open his door, jumping out and rounding to my side before I had time to step out of his massive truck. He helped me down, and his hand scorched where he aided me by holding on to my elbow.
“Let me walk you to the door. Last thing I need to be worried about is you here by yourself and some asshole taking advantage of you.”
He quirked this belly-flopping grin that pierced me like an arrow. “Unless of course that asshole is me.”
He barely angled his head to the side. There was something so endearing and self-deprecating about it. Everything about him right then was at odds with the surly, bear of a man I’d met weeks ago, the man exposing himself, layer by layer.
I lifted my chin, both in strength and vulnerability, tossing all the uncertainties and questions out into the open. “Should I be afraid?”
“Yeah, you should be.” His response was hard, but there was no missing the fact his irritation was aimed at himself. He set his palm on the small of my back, helping me through the gravel drive in my heels, an inch behind as we ascended the porch steps.
We crossed the planks. That tension wound higher with each step until we were nothing but needy pants at my door. Slowly, I turned around to face him.
His presence sent a ripple of energy vibrating across the floorboards, the overwhelming sight of him the owner of my breath.
He stood beneath the faint glow of the hurricane lamp that hung outside the door. A sculpture of sinewy muscle and raw strength, forged through years of obvious physical labor. Every inch of him was rugged, from those roughened, callused hands to the crinkles set deep at the edges of his eyes.
The man was a carving of pure, daunting beauty.
“What exactly am I supposed to be afraid of, Rex?” My brow twisted, and my voice quieted with the admission. “Because when I’m around you, the last thing I feel is afraid.”
“I fuck everything up, Rynna, and the only thing I’ve got to offer you is my mess. I can’t do this.”
Restraint rumbled in his chest, the sound so deep I felt it shake the ground beneath my feet.
I gently cupped one side of his rugged face. “I’m not afraid.”
It was a promise.
An appeal.
“You should be,” he grated. “Warned you, my shit doesn’t ever end well.”
“Maybe that’s a chance I’m willing to take.”
He groaned and he planted his hands high above my head. The man panted above me, torn, desperate, his nose just brushing mine. “God damn it, Rynna. God damn it.”
I felt the moment he broke. When the thread pulled too tight and this mesmerizing man snapped. His mouth descended on mine.
Overpowering.
Overwhelming.
Dizzying.
Lips and tongue and nips of teeth.
And those hands. They were on my face. My neck. My waist. Somehow, I managed to hold on to him and spin away as I fumbled with the lock. He pressed against my backside, his cock against my bottom, and his mouth leaving a trail of fire at the side of my neck. We stumbled into the darkness of my house, breaking apart as I turned to face him.
The only light trickled down from the lamp I’d left on upstairs.
Slowly, he clicked the door shut behind him. We stood there, two feet away from each other, staring.
Chests heaving.
Before we collided.
A tangle of tongues and bodies.
The man frantic, trying to touch me everywhere.
“What am I doing? Fuck, what am I doing?” he muttered incoherently, kissing me deeper. Madder. Wilder.
I pushed up on my toes and tore my mouth from his so I could kiss down the strong column of his throat. His head thudded back against the door, his entire body pressing against it as if he needed it to keep him standing.
He grated my name, and I kept kissing at his throat while I worked free the button on his jeans, hands shaking.
Every reservation spun out of control.
Out of reach.
It was only spurred further when the defined muscles of his abdomen jumped and twitched beneath my touch, when he mumbled, “You’re killing me, Rynna. Fucking killing me.”
Desire rippled from him in heady waves.
And I felt so brave and bold, my kisses brazen as I nipped at the hollow of his throat.
Before I could consider it—the ramifications and the repercussions and the distinct threat to my heart—I dropped to my knees.
I refused to think of anything but setting him free.
Hoping he’d find a little of that freedom in me.

REVIEW TOUR: LOVE PROFOUND by Kelly Elliott

I write about love, but I’ve never experienced it. Sure, I’ve been with guys that I cared about. Even thought I found ‘the one’. He turned out to be the frog and not the prince.

A few Frank Sinatra songs and a wildly handsome cowboy who calls me Darlin’, will have me second guessing everything I ever thought I knew about love.

Does happily ever after really exist…or is it only something I write about in books?

Love Profound is book two in the Cowboys and Angels series.

Review

Everyone, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, etc., deserves love – a kind of love where they can feel secure, cared for, and important, but sometimes, the choices people make force their hopes and dreams when it comes to their personal happily ever after to go askew, choosing a partner(s) who doesn’t cherish or protect them because they are too busy looking out for themselves.

For Amelia Parker, a successful romance writer whose books exude passionate and all-in love, has stopped looking for her perfect mate because all of her choices, one in particular, have twisted her view on love and relationships. So, even though her writing doesn’t suffer from her distorted view of love and commitment, personally, she doesn’t know how to manage her past pain with her present and hopeful future.

Until a certain cowboy proves her wrong and shows her exactly what love in the most profound sense should be.

There are no better heroes than Kelly Elliott’s cowboys because despite their ‘alphaness,’ there’s also a gentleman underneath who knows how to treat people the right way and when it’s the woman who owns his heart, there’s no better man alive who can demonstrate through words and actions just how much his other half owns him, body and soul.

Amelia and Wade’s story is as romantic as it is steamy, and that combination makes for one heck of a fine read. Because the entire Parker family is showcased in the Cowboys & Angels series, Elliott allows readers to be an adopted member and as Amelia and Wade’s romantic relationship takes off, readers are a part of every sensual and loving act and they also witness the Parker men putting Wade through his paces when it comes to their baby sister.

Kelly Elliott is a gifted writer because she effortlessly builds a setting and characters who spellbound readers because the world she creates is a pivotal part of her stories and the characters she constructs are truly multifaceted and easy to understand and connect with because Elliott illustrates exactly who they are and why they make the choices they do.

Bring on the next Parker!

COVER REVEAL: MISS FIX-IT by Emma Hart

One handywoman.

One single dad.

One set of twins.

And the wall isn’t the only thing being drilled…

I learned the hard way that being a handywoman isn’t easy. The questions, the stares—the assumption I’m the proud owner of a cock and balls. Not that it matters. I’ve proven over and over that I’m ready for anything the judgmental asses throw at me.

Except the hot, single dad of twins who just moved to town.

Brantley Cooper gets the shock of his life when I show up on his doorstep to fix up his kids’ new rooms. His son is confused why ‘the pretty lady has a drill,’ and his daughter has a new obsession—me.

On paper, my job is easy. Go in, do their bedrooms, and leave.

In theory, I’m spending eight hours a day with a guarded, sexy as hell guy, and I’m staying for dinner more often than I’m eating it alone, on my couch, with Friends re-runs.

I shouldn’t be staying for dinner. I shouldn’t be helping him out with the twins. I shouldn’t be falling in love with tiny toes and dimpled cheeks.

And I most definitely should not be kissing my client.

Oops…

Blurb

Dear Bridget,

I’m writing this letter because it’s highly doubtful I’ll ever garner the courage to say this to your face.

So, here goes.

We’re totally wrong for each other. You’re the proper single mum with a good head on your shoulders. I’m just the carefree British doctor passing through town and temporarily living in your converted garage until I head back to England.

But here’s the thing… for some bloody reason, I can’t stop thinking about you in very inappropriate ways.

I want you.

The only reason I’m even admitting all of this to you right now is because I don’t believe it’s one-sided. I notice your eyes when you look at me, too. And as crass as I appear when we’re joking around about sex, my attraction to you is not a joke.

So, what’s the purpose of this note? I guess it’s a reminder that we’re adults, that sex is healthy and natural, and that you can find me just through the door past the kitchen. More specifically, it’s to let you know that I’m leaving said door cracked open from now on in case you’d like to visit me in the middle of the night sometime.

No questions asked.

Think about it.

Or don’t.

Whatever you choose.

It’s doubtful I’ll even end up sliding this letter under your door anyway.

–Simon

Review

Dear Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland,

You continue to dazzle me with your entertaining, thought-provoking, and sexy stories. It amazes me how each chapter seamlessly flows from one into the next regardless of who the creator is or whose perspective is being used. Every incident, every choice of words, every description provided and personalities created are necessary to fully understand the characters and their story and to truly know who the hero and heroine is and what their actions and reactions explain about them.

You ladies have created some killer heroes, but Simon Hogue is in a category of his own! This guy is the ENTIRE package – intelligent, caring, hilarious, and motivated, and his British accent and the ability to wind people up while putting them at ease makes him quite the dynamic hero. You provide a reason for the flaws that he has and you allow readers to understand exactly who he is because you put them inside his head, which means that as he struggle with his attraction to Bridget despite her ‘situation’ and grows to have genuine feelings for her, readers clearly see everything he says and does and the reasons behind them.

Bridget Valentine is the perfect heroine for Simon. Because she’s older and experienced the darker moments of life, she’s extremely relatable to readers and as her connection with Simon builds and she realizes that maybe she’s strong enough to move on from the death of her husband, readers get to experience all the highs and lows of her relationship with Simon and the conflicted feelings she has come across genuinely and speak to exactly the kind of woman and mom she is.

When you two joined forces and combined your skillful storytelling powers, you allowed romance readers fabulous settings to escape to, extremely sexy heroes to obsess over, and heroines who readers can’t help but respect and love because their beauty resonates from within, allowing them to see all that your heroines are and identify with certain parts of your leading ladies, forming a relationship with them that doesn’t usually happen in most story lines simply because readers don’t completely see who the heroines are or they’re written in ways that don’t allow a concrete connection.

Dear Bridget, I Want You showcases your skills at creating multifaceted story lines and complex characters who stay with your readers even when the last page is read! Please keep writing together and on your own because your words, your stories, your characters are all reasons why I love the romance genre and gravitate towards certain authors who understand what readers want and need in a story.

Sincerely,

Rebecca Fairest Reviews

CONFESS.

It’s what he said to me across his altar, what he demanded so that I would be pure.

In the moment he blessed me with his virtue, I was no longer the woman I’d once been.

I was Eve.

His light.

His salvation.

His bridge to Heaven’s gate.

I failed him because my faith was not strong enough.

He punished me for not giving in.

Resisting temptation is never easy.

Not when his hands, his teeth, his heat and hunger were the greatest of my sins.
