You know the old adage “if you love something, set it free?”

It’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.

The dumbest thing I’ve ever done.

I loved her. I lost her. Hell, I let her go. And then spent five miserable years without her.

To cope with the loss, I put pen to paper and wrote her a love story, knowing when she was ready she’d hear the words I couldn’t say all those years ago.

Turned out, not only would she hear them, but when Hollywood came calling, I made sure she got the lead role. After all, no one else could portray the character whom she’d inspired.

Now she’s within arms’ reach and finally, she’ll know the truth in my heart.

Because that other cliché, “Actions speak louder than words?”

I’m going to prove it.

My words may have brought Ava Banks back into my life; I have to be enough to make her stay.

I knew life wasn’t that simple. It wasn’t that easy. It was messy and unforgiving, relentless in the hands it dealt. Just when you thought everything was perfect, the universe decided you didn’t deserve such happiness and then ruined it. My parents were an anomaly. Don’t get me wrong. I loved them, and knew how fortunate it was they’re still blissfully in love after all those years together. Grossly in love at times. The amount of PDA I’d witnessed in my own household would put the kids in my high school to shame. I never thought I’d have a love like theirs, though. I never thought I’d want it.

Because finding your soulmate in high school? That’s like waiting for lightning to strike in the same spot twice. In other words, it wasn’t going to happen for this girl, even if my life was paralleling theirs a little too close for comfort.

Tucker, my best friend and the boy next door since childhood, was always a little too close for comfort. Except he wasn’t too close. He was exactly where I wanted him to be. Or well. He had been until I pushed him away.

They say history is bound to repeat itself—I said no way. But, sometimes, you can’t fight nature. And the way he made—and still makes—me feel? It’s the most natural feeling in the world. It’s like home. Comfortable. Cozy. And I wanted to wrap myself up in it and bask in the warmth in my heart.

And then his parting words seeped back in.

“I’m not your dad, Ava. I’m not chasing you until you realize we’re meant to be together. If you choose to leave, you’re doing so knowing exactly what you’re giving up.”

And then I make the biggest mistake of my life.

I left.

Tucker was not my dad.

He let me.

Tucker hadn’t lied. He didn’t chase me. He didn’t call. He didn’t write. And when I returned home from college for winter or summer break that first year, he was nothing but a ghost. Even though I didn’t like to admit it, I spent long, lonely nights staring at his window, wishing, hoping, praying the light would turn on and I could gather up the courage to go over to see him.

It never did.

So I stopped going home.

Unfortunately, that didn’t halt the pain.

They say hindsight’s a bitch, but that’s an understatement. Hindsight is a never-ending agonizing torture, always burning under the surface, receding until you’re on the brink of healing, then flaring up to envelope you in flames all over again.

It was true. Over the course of the next five years, I went through a cycle. Anger (mostly at myself, a little at him). Melancholy riddled with rife loneliness. Determination, telling myself I’d get my shit together and get over the guy once and for all. But then something would happen to have the house of cards falling down all around me. I’d get a hint of his favorite aftershave, and I’d burst into tears, wishing the scent was due to him holding me in his arms, telling me everything was okay. Or I’d get drunk and go to my Ugly Girl Cry playlist, followed up by listening to Clarence Carter’s Strokin’ while simultaneously laughing my ass off and bawling my eyes out. Sometimes I’d begin with laughing, but within sixty seconds, I was crying, reminded of how ridiculous Tucker looked the first time he sang the song at karaoke—courtesy of my father, of course. Not only did I sound like a drowned cat; I had the appearance of one, too.

And then that was when it was the words. The reminder of how much Tucker was like my dad. How much I wanted to be like my mom. But unlike her, I was a coward.

So that was my cycle. Pain. Regret. Anger. Melancholy. Determination. Heartache.

Wash. Rinse. Repeat. For five long years. All the while wondering what he was doing, but never mustering up the courage to find out.

Yeah, I was a coward, indeed.

All Rose Hart wants to do is put her past behind her, but it seems she can never escape the drama. Attempting to take control of her life she moves out with a new roommate, Sarah Boswell. Unfortunately, Sarah’s past is littered with questionable choices that affect Rose in ways that could alter her life forever.

Kane Thornton is one of Castle’s top foot soldiers in his empire of crime. He enters Rose’s life on orders from an uncle she never knew existed. For two years he kept a healthy distance, torn over being loyal to Castle and succumbing to his secret love for the woman he has been ordered to protect and not love. He never thought he would be capable of feeling this way over anyone again. His tragic past made him cold…emotionless. Rose was alluring. His need for her insatiable. Despite everything he thought he stood for, he knew he had to do everything he could so she would be his.

Bound together in a world of crime Rose was thrust into, their lives become entwined as they fight to keep their love alive despite the chaos of love, lust, and danger. The greatest battle they will face is the one that has the power to destroy them.

This is a romantic suspense novel and is told by the main character’s’ POV.

This is book three in the Castle series but can be read as a standalone. However, I recommend reading the prior books in the series, as characters play recurring roles throughout

Warning: This book deals with mature subject matters such as coarse language and explicit sexual situations. It is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18.

Excerpt

Hey everyone! I’m super excited to share an excerpt from Bound to Submit, the first official book in my brand new and super-hot Blasphemy series! This is an erotic second-chance love story featuring a tormented Dom and a veteran amputee heroine – and these guys had such an amazing, yearning chemistry! I hope you’ll pick up your copy – and welcome to Blasphemy!

Now, here’s a little taste of the heat coming your way in Bound to Submit – enjoy!

After he bound her hands and feet, Griffin leaned in and kissed the corner of her mouth, the gesture a little reward that poked at things inside her chest. “I could be very happy with having you just like this. But do you want more, Kenna?”

“Yes. More, Sir, please.” She wanted rope marks imprinted deep into her skin. Everywhere.

His chuckle was full of a sexy smugness. “That almost sounded like begging. And I always did like when you begged.” He moved behind her, pulling the rope attached to her wrists around the back of her neck, knotting it to her opposite wrist, and then creating a crisscross that ran between her breasts and wrapped around her torso.

Kenna whimpered, because it felt fucking amazing to be bound this way. But she was going to cut the PVC bodysuit she’d worn to shreds the minute she got home for keeping her from feeling the rough, direct press of the twine.

“Regretting that suit now, aren’t you?” He came around her and winked as he surveyed his handiwork.

She twisted her lips and kept silent, because he already knew the answer. Damn him.

Silently, he walked around her, observing her as she observed him in return. The beautiful, confusing tattoo on his back. Those broad shoulders, the perfect fit of those black jeans on his thighs and ass, the prominent bulge of his cock under the denim, the longish black hair that she knew he loved for her to grip when they kissed. The thought made her struggle against the bindings.

He paused in front of her, his gaze dragging over his handiwork. “Fuck, Kenna. I have bound you in my dreams a thousand times.” He shook his head. “But not one of those compared to the privilege of actually getting my hands on you again.”

He’d dreamt of her? His words, being bound again after all this time, her arousal, all of it nearly made her dizzy.

And then he reached between her legs and unsnapped the closure of her bodysuit.

The contact of his fingers against her pussy and the too-quick brush of his touch against her clit made her moan and flinch forward.

Master Griffin caught and steadied her. “Be still, little one. And let me do what I will.”

She nodded, her brain and body still reeling. A light sheen of sweat broke out across her skin as anticipation flooded through her.

And then he left her. Her ears tuned into the movements he made from somewhere behind her, causing all that anticipation to ramp up even more until her lungs were working faster. The lights went down some and, combined with the music, the soft, golden dimness created an atmosphere that felt both sensual and risky, sexy and dangerous. And what he returned with made her inhale a fast breath.

A flogger. The kind with the delicious wide leather tails. He held the black-leather implement in both hands, the thick braided handle in his right, and the gathered tails in his left. He slapped the tails against his palm as he spoke. “Are you ready for some endorphins, Kenna?”

Review

Kenna Sloane was born to submit; she was born to serve. It’s a part of herself that took her awhile to accept, but now it’s the part of her that needs help the most. After being medically discharged from the Marines, Kenna has lost her direction…she’s lost her career, her best friend, and her right forearm/hand. All of those losses have undoubtedly altered Kenna’s life, but after two years, she’s desperate to free herself from the grief, the regret, and the guilt, and the only way that will truly release her is being bound and surrendering herself to a Dom who knows exactly what to do with her body in order to settle her mind.

Master Griffin was born to dominate; he was born to bring pleasure to women by forcing their submission and binding them in ways that allow for overwhelming release, and while Griffin gets off on doling out commands and manipulating a woman’s body in a multitude of ways, he needs more than a bevy of different subs – he wants a partner; he wants someone collared to him…someone who he can call his own…too bad he gave up the one woman he wants for that position five years ago…

In Bound to Submit, Kenna and Griffin get their second chance…they get the opportunity to make amends for the past and reconnect in a way that will hopefully bind them together as Dom/sub as well as partners and lovers. But Griffin has his work cut out for him when it comes to repairing Kenna’s heart – the one he broke when he wasn’t able to commit to her all those years ago. Kenna may have returned to Blasphemy in order to work through her feelings while being bound and dominated, but in order to make her feel good again, he need to prove to her that his feelings for her are real and he desperately regrets his past actions.

Laura Kaye is one of my favorite writers because even though most of her stories are written in third person, she allows readers to truly know the characters’ thoughts and feelings, which is sometimes hard to accomplish. I felt Kenna’s anguish and devastation. I felt her frustration and guilt, and I also understood Griffin’s side of things and his desperation to bind himself to Kenna for life.

The BDSM scenes were expertly written and illustrated not just the physical effects of submission but also the mental release that takes place, which allowed me to understand people’s desire/need for this kind of kink. I can’t wait to see what other sides of the BDSM world Kaye will show readers as she tells the stories of Blasphemy’s other Masters.

I absolutely adored Laura Kaye’s Hard Ink men, but I have a feeling her Masters will tempt me just as much!

A complimentary copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 Poison Apples

“A searingly sexy story with some of the hottest scenes I’ve read in a long, long time. Laura Kaye shows her mastery of the BDSM world. I’m eagerly anticipating more in this bold new series!

~ Cherise Sinclair, NYT Bestselling Author of the Masters of the Shadowlands Series

“Smoldering and sexy, Laura Kaye’s Blasphemy series is everything I look for in a romance. Haunted heroes and strong heroines populate this one of a kind club and I can’t wait to see the big bad Doms fall one by one.”

~ Lexi Blake, NYT Bestselling Author of the Masters and Mercenaries Series

About Penny Reid

SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing).

By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.

RELEASE BLITZ: The FIX-UP by Kendall Ryan

banner-available-now

the-fix-up-kendall-ryanFrom New York Times Bestseller, Kendall Ryan, comes a sexy new standalone novel.

My tempting, and very alpha friend Sterling Quinn is someone I consider off-limits.

It’s not just that we’re friends, he’s also cocky, confident, and British, which means he’s a walking aphrodisiac.

But lately he’s been giving me the look. You know the one. When he thinks I’m not paying attention, and his gaze lingers for too long.

And then we start working together, and that’s when the sexual tension between us gets so thick, I want to hack through it with a machete. I want to make all these deep feelings I’ve harbored for him disappear, because there’s no way this can end well.

The lines between business and pleasure become irrevocably blurred, and I’m stuck between a rock, and Sterling’s very, very hard place.

Rather than keep a level head about our growing attraction, Sterling wants to go all in, showing me just how explosive we can be together.

But I’ve been around long enough to know that this British bad boy is more than my heart can handle. I’m not about to be cast aside like yesterday’s underwear when he’s done having fun.

Sterling’s never been told no, and he’s not about to put his ego aside and play by my rules. But I never thought he’d fight so dirty.

I twist the doorknob, and finding it unlocked, let myself inside.

Sterling’s place is compact, but modern and classy. It suits him. After a quick glance around the living space, I spot him on the balcony outside, just beyond the glass doors at the far end of the living room. He’s facing away from me, his hands gripping the railing, his head bowed.

My smile from moments ago is gone. Seeing him like this—looking distraught—brings the reality of our situation crashing back.

Sterling suddenly turns and we lock eyes. A thousand emotions are revealed in his eyes, but mostly there’s anger. There’s also a sadness in his gaze that I’ve never seen. It’s haunting.

I swallow a lump in my throat, wondering what’s going on.

“Sterling?” I ask, slowly approaching the balcony.

It’s beautiful—plush pillows and twinkling lights, and a chilled bottle of white wine all nestled together in a romantic picnic for two.

He lets out a heavy sigh and runs one hand through his hair.

“This is beautiful,” I say since he hasn’t spoken, hasn’t even moved from the spot where he’s rooted, and his stony silence is killing me. “Are you okay?”

“Just fine,” he says curtly, his gaze looking past me.

He doesn’t seem fine. He seems off. Why go through all the effort if he’s just going to act sullen and withdrawn?

And what could have possibly changed in the twenty-four hours since we last spoke on the phone? He seemed so excited—like he hadn’t a care in the world. Now it seems he doesn’t want me here.

“If this is a bad time, if tonight doesn’t work . . .” I trail off, my voice suddenly shaky.

“The meal’s already prepared.” He brushes past me, headed toward the kitchen.

Unsure what to do, I follow behind him.

He’s acting like an asshole, and I suddenly feel so stupid for getting all done up tonight. I’m not going to stand around and embarrass myself by begging for his attention.

“You know what? Never mind. This was a bad idea, anyway. I’ll see myself out.” I turn and head for the front door, anger and rejection dueling inside me.

It takes all of three seconds before Sterling’s long strides catch him up to me by the door. His grip around my wrist stops me. “Wait.”

I turn and face him. I’m halfway between wanting to flee and staying to hear his explanation.

He releases a heavy exhale. “I received a phone call just before you arrived.”

With him so near, the combination of his clean soap and his spicy cologne intoxicates me. Memories of our intimate dinner rush back. But apparently tonight is not meant to be a repeat. Waiting to see what he’ll say next, I inhale and hold my breath.

When he doesn’t continue, I ask, “Is everything okay?”

Peeling off the ridiculous black stickers from underneath her eyes, Whitney smirked. Had she really just done that? Good Lord her mama would have been horrified. But for as embarrassed as she was, the permanent smile on Charlotte’s face and the glow she had worn all night long while talking to people about her designs had been totally worth it. She had taken so many orders for clothing pieces that she feared she wouldn’t see her cousin until springtime.

And Shay.

That kiss still had her hands shaking as she threw the strips in the trashcan, running the washcloth under the warm water. She could still taste him on her mouth and she licked her lips again. Removing some makeup from her cheek, her chest grew heavy. It had been a long time since she had kissed a man. A real man. One who kissed with strength and purpose. Nothing like the mandatory quick pecks she had received from Adam over the course of their relationship. But nobody had ever felt like Shay had. She almost married a man whose kisses didn’t pack a punch with them the way Shay’s had, her stomach twisting at the thought. Dabbing off the heavy eyeliner she cleared her throat. The look on his face when he realized what they were doing could only be described as painful. As if he had just made the biggest mistake of his life. Men like Shay Cunningham didn’t come after women like her. It was just a fact. Which was fine, more than fine, actually, as it was better this way. She didn’t know the first thing about a professional athlete’s life and she should have stopped him the moment he grabbed her, but he had taken her by surprise. And he felt good. So good. Scrubbing the bright red lipstick from her mouth, shimmer smearing across her face, she heard loud pounding at the door. Dropping the washcloth into the sink she darted towards the front door. Magda had mentioned that Quinn had finally fallen asleep just a little before she arrived home. Swinging the door open quickly to end the banging, she saw Shay on her doormat, his hair damp looking like he just stepped out of an editorial magazine. Swiping his hand across his mouth slowly, she knew he was anxious. And Shay being anxious made her nervous. He was the most assertive, self-assured man she had ever met and he just stood there watching her, forcing the air to turn thick.

“Hi,” she breathed.

“Hi.”

“Are you alright?” she asked swallowing against her dry throat.

Nodding, he moved through the door slowly, stopping as his forehead met hers. Closing her eyes, her heart rammed against her chest so hard she was almost afraid that he could hear it. “Is Quinn awake?”

“No,” she whispered, shaking her head as he walked her backwards, feeling his hands finding their way to her hips.

“Is Charlotte home?”

“No.” She closed her eyes again and he continued pushing her further inside the house. Curling her lips under, she peeked up at him. His face unmoving, his eyes searched hers and it felt like he was fighting a war. One that his life depended upon. “Why are you here, Shay?”

“I’m not sure.”

Review

Happily Ever Afters come in a variety of ways, so when Helena Hunting throws a bunch of hockey players and their significant others together, their relationships are bound to not fit a particular mold, especially with the alpha males in Hunting’s Pucked series.

Randy Ballistic and Lily LeBlanc have come a long way since their first meeting in Pucked Over, and while their crazy chemistry still powers their extremely healthy sex life, their relationship is about so much more than an All-Access Pass to Lily’s Vagina Emporium and copious amounts of instant orgasms.

But with the new hockey season on the horizon and the adjustments that will have to be made for both Lily and Randy, his past concerns about being too much like his cheating father are brought to the surface, making him needy and anxious about his time away from Lily. His father’s remarks and treatment make Randy question himself and his ability to give Lily what she wants, so it’s up to Lily to ease his anxiety, which means return trips to Boob Valley and perhaps uncovering some of the hidden secrets in Area 51;)

I don’t think there’s another group of characters that make every read entertaining, humorous, and off-the charts hot like Helena Hunting’s Pucked series’

alpha males and feisty heroines. Helena Hunting definitely knows how to write romantic comedy and the insight she provides readers of her over-the-top characters allows us to truly see their uniqueness and why the couples Hunting creates work so well together, despite their polar opposite personalities.

As the series continues, readers get updates on former couples and the storyline moves forward for all of them, which is one of the aspects of the Pucked books that I adore. This is a tight knit group of characters, so it makes sense that they would all be included in each other’s stories, and I don’t think I would be able to read any of the books in the series if Helena Hunting didn’t provide readers with Violet’s verbal diarrhea, Alex’s overprotectiveness, Sunny’s quirkiness, Miller’s off the wall antics, and Randy and Lily’s constant sexual shenanigans.

And now, I’m ready for Lance’s story…I’m ready for him to stop his whoring ways and find the kind of happiness his friends have because there’s only so many ways Lance can use the puck bunnies and while Tash put his heart through the ringer, it’s time for someone to show him another way.

Jane isn’t entirely sure that Cinderella got such a raw deal. Sure, she had a rough start, but didn’t she eventually land a prince and a happily-ever-after? Meanwhile, Jane is busy waiting on her demanding, entitled sisters, running her cleaning business, and . . . yep, not a prince in sight. Until a party and a broken shoe incident leave Jane wondering if princes—or at least, a certain deliciously hunky billionaire—maybe do exist.

Except Brock Wellington isn’t anyone’s dream guy. Hell, a prince would never agree to be auctioned off in marriage to the highest bidder. Or act like an arrogant jerk—even if it was just a façade. Now, as Brock is waiting for the auction chopping block, he figures it’s karmic retribution that he’s tempted by a sexy, sassy woman he can’t have. But while they can’t have a fairy-tale ending, maybe they can indulge in a little bit of fantasy . .

Review

Once upon a time, Boring Brock and Plain Jane spent most of their lives living for everyone else, hoping to keep their family intact after the deaths of their parents. Both seem to be battling demons and running from ghosts, which doesn’t allow them anytime to live their own lives or be free to choose who and what they want to be.

But then one day, a fairy godfather gives Jane a way to get away from her sisters and see who she is without taking care of everyone but herself, and even though she feels like quite the pauper and has no reason to think a prince like Brock would be attracted to her because she’s just a maid, magical things occur and Brock and Jane’s attraction to one another force both of them to truly question how they’ve been living and what they plan to do to get out from underneath their self-appointed prisons.

And even though there’s a deadline of three weeks – when everything turns back into what it’s always been, if Brock can find the will to say no and Jane can find the courage to trust him, perhaps when the clock strikes for the auction, the future Mrs. Brock Wellington will be a woman who wants his heart not his money.

I absolutely adore modernized fairy tales. They are pure escapism from the crazy, cruel world we live in, and Rachel Van Dyken’s The Bachelor Auction does a great job of spinning Cinderella’s tale into a contemporary love story. Brock and Jane is the perfect pair for this story because they understand the need to take care of what’s left of their family even though it’s a role that’s slowly destroying them, and while they may come from two different worlds, their personalities complement one another and allow them to heal some of the wounds from their pasts.

Anytime readers are allowed time with Grandma Nadine, we know that there’s bound to be some shenanigans heading our way because she takes her fairy godmother role to heart and does everything in her power to accomplish whatever she feels is necessary, and because Brock and Jane seem to be in a stalemate due his grandfather’s grand auction plans, it’s going to take Grandma Nadine’s magic and conniving to ensure a happily ever after happens for Brock and Jane as long as the couple gets out of their own way.

Book Description

Seduce the teacher.

Meet the cousin.

Make a deal.

Steal the painting.

Andrea Anderson has no clue of the thoughts churning around in the dark and dangerous ex-con’s head as he enters her classroom. In fact, she’s momentarily lost for words. Not in her entire teaching career has she had a student who looked quite like Stu Cross.

A widow at just twenty-eight, love is something Andie hasn’t considered a part of her life for a very long time. However, when lingering touches turn to whispered words and hot, searching stares, she begins to wonder if maybe she should take a leap of faith.

But Stu is in her class for a reason, and it has nothing to do with love. He’s there to burrow his way into her life and repay a debt, otherwise his family will suffer. Andie is the first person to show him true kindness since he left prison, and though he doesn’t want to mislead her, he doesn’t have another choice.

Before long, Stu can’t tell whether or not he’s acting anymore, and his feelings for Andie could throw all of his carefully crafted plans into complete and utter disarray.

**Can be read as a stand alone.

“Here we are,” I announced before turning to address everyone. “You’ve got half an hour to find a book and then we’ll meet back at the check-in desk at eleven thirty.” They all nodded and moved by me while I levelled my gaze on Stu.

“Have you got a library card?”

He shook his head.

“Okay then, come with me and I’ll grab you an application form. They’ll give you a temporary card so you can check a book out today, then they’ll post the permanent one to you in a week or so.”

“You shouldn’t listen to them,” he said as we stepped through the entryway.

I shot him a glance. “To who?”

“Mary and Susan. You don’t need to change anything about yourself. You’re already sexy as fuck.”

I sucked in a breath at his words, so blunt and to the point. I didn’t think I’d ever been described quite like that before. It made me feel nervous…but a little excited, too. I turned to face him, plastering on a strict look. “You need to learn to stop talking to me like that. I’m your teacher.”

He cocked a brow. “So you can talk to Mary and Susan about their sex lives, but I can’t tell you how sexy you are?”

I placed my hands on my hips. “Yes, that’s exactly right. I’m friends with my students. I’ll talk to them about their lives and give advice when needed. The way you speak to me isn’t friendly, Stu, and I think you know it.”

He shrugged. “I say what I think.”

“Yes, well, try to keep some of the things you think to yourself every once in a while.”

“Oh, I have been,” he said, pausing to slice his teeth across his lower lip. I was beginning to notice it was a signature move of his. “I’ve been keeping things to myself for over a week. Seems only natural that some of it finally slipped out.”

My eyes flickered between his as I shook my head. His persistence was both bizarre and flabbergasting, and yes, a tiny bit flattering, which was I decided to swiftly change the subject. “God, there’s no talking to you. Come on, let’s go find you an application form.”

EXCERPT REVEAL: ROYALLY SCREWED by Emma Chase

rs-fb-1018-ad-1

royally-screwed-for-webEmma Chase, New York Times bestselling author of the Tangled Series & Legal Briefs Series, returns with the first of three sizzling standalone books about a family of racy, irresistible Royals.

Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, aka “His Royal Hotness”, is wickedly charming, devastatingly handsome, and unabashedly arrogant—hard not to be when people are constantly bowing down to you.

Then, one snowy night in Manhattan, the prince meets a dark haired beauty who doesn’t bow down. Instead, she throws a pie in his face.

Nicholas wants to find out if she tastes as good as her pie, and this heir apparent is used to getting what he wants.

***

Dating a prince isn’t what waitress Olivia Hammond ever imagined it would be.

There’s a disapproving queen, a wildly inappropriate spare heir, relentless paparazzi, and brutal public scrutiny. While they’ve traded in horse drawn carriages for Rolls Royces and haven’t chopped anyone’s head off lately—the royals are far from accepting of this commoner.

But to Olivia—Nicholas is worth it.

***

Nicholas grew up with the whole world watching, and now Marriage Watch is in full force. In the end, Nicholas has to decide who he is, but more importantly, who he wants to be: a King… or the man who gets to love Olivia forever.

Excerpt

The next week is blissfully uneventful. I address Palace business during the day, and spend my nights with Olivia—which are so much more than blissful.

While I work, she relaxes like I want her to. She walks the grounds and has found a friend in Franny. They’ve had lunch together a few times, which doesn’t exactly thrill me, but at the very least, I know she’s safe with Simon’s wife.

Franny, and her forked tongue, will protect Olivia from the Lucy-types looking to wound her with their half-truths.

On the rare occasions my brother is sober, he becomes increasingly agitated—like he’s unable to sit still, to stand his own company, or any sound that resembles silence. Finally, he decides to throw a welcome home party for himself.

I’m in my bathroom preparing for his royal yacht party, just showered with a towel around my hips, scraping the last of the shaving cream off my jaw, when Olivia appears in the doorway.

I thought she was lovely from the first moment I saw her. But here, now—her bare, soft skin wrapped in a pink silk robe, her face glowing with well-rested happiness…she’s magnificent.

“So…do you guys have like a gift shop or a convenience store around here?”

I laugh. “A gift shop?”

She holds up a light blue disposable razor. “I’m out of razors. This one’s so dull I could run it over my tongue without drawing blood.”

“Let’s not test that theory. I like your tongue too much.” I wipe my chin with a towel. “I can have the staff bring one to your room.”

The devil on my shoulder—and the angel too—smack me upside the head. And they whisper a much better idea.

“Or…I could help you out.”

Her brows draw together. “Help me out? I can’t use your razor.”

“No, definitely not—you’d cut yourself to ribbons.” I finger the sharp, heavy straight blade. “What I mean is…I could shave for you.”

Her eyes darken, the way they do when she’s right on the edge—right before she comes. And she moves closer to me.

“Do you…want to do that?”

My gaze drags down, down, over every sumptuous inch of her body.

“Oh, yes.”
