For Mackenzie Cox, racing motorcycles is in her blood. Born into a family legacy, she’s determined to show the world that she has inherited her father’s talent in this male-dominated sport. The last thing Kenzie needs is to be antagonised by her rival team’s newest rider, Hayden Hayes. Hayden, exceedingly arrogant and outrageously attractive, immediately gets under Kenzie’s skin and she can’t help but be distracted.

As Kenzie and Hayden push each other on the track, the electric energy between them off the track shifts into an intense – and strictly forbidden – attraction. The only rule between their two ultra-competitive teams is zero contact. Kenzie needs a win, and she also needs to stay away from Hayden. Unfortunately for her though, one thing has become all too clear: she can’t.

Fuelled by passion, driven by desire, Hayden and Mackenzie both want to win more than anything else. Except for, maybe, each other. But anger, jealousy and extreme competitiveness aren’t their only obstacles . . .

Review

Furious Rush is exactly the kind of sports romance story I like to read because the heroine is not the spectator, she’s actually a competitor in a racing world that is dominated by men, and her love interest is the bad boy racer for her team’s biggest enemy. So not only is there a huge risk in participating in the sport the characters love, but because there is incredibly bad blood between the two racing teams, a relationship between the hero and heroine is forbidden, and readers know that S.C. Stephens definitely knows how to craft a forbidden love story with a heavy amount of drama and angst.

Mackenzie Cox seems to have the weight of the world on her shoulders – at least when it comes to her father’s business and racing legacy. In her rookie season for Cox Racing, the expectations and pressure is overwhelming; there are no second chances for her or her racing team, and so at the start of the season, Kenzie is filled with fear and doubt, but all it takes is one cocky competitor to help Kenzie focus on racing and chasing him until the final lap, and Hayden Hayes also turns straight-laced Kenzie into a bit of a rebel who takes risks and has the guts to go after what she wants and needs to not only help herself but also her father.

S.C. Stephens creates the perfect alpha racer in Hayden Hayes. He’s exactly the type of racer I picture to take part in road racing and take chances that others might not take. There are qualities about Hayden that readers get through Kenzie’s perspective, but he’s still quite a mystery at the end of their story. I understand that because the story is strictly told from Kenzie’s point of view that readers weren’t going to be able to truly understand everything about him, but I wanted to understand him and his relationships a bit better in order to form a stronger connection to what makes him who he is.

The racing aspect of the storyline is very well done. S.C. Stephens places her readers right in the middle of the action and that placement allows them to be more than spectators – the descriptions and sensory images that are used put readers almost on the back of Kenzie’s bike, maneuvering left and right with her and holding their breaths at every turn that takes them just a little bit too close to the cement.

Kenzie and Hayden’s story is definitely a slow burn racing romance because there are a number of obstacles standing in their way from the very beginning, and usually, I’m fine with a slow-moving storyline because in the end, I get a sense of closure, and even if their story is unfinished, I still get a sense of the couple’s connection, but the situations and lessons that seem most important are, at times, overshadowed by secondary characters and events that don’t seem to mesh well with everything else, and I’m left wondering after everything that has gone wrong, how Kenzie and Hayden move forward with their passions for racing and each other not tearing them apart.

Review

It was made perfectly clear at the end of book 6, The Apprehension, that action against Branford and his Queen had gone too far, sending Branford on a war path of death and destruction; his fury with being unable to protect Alexandra and his unborn child, once again, has driven Branford to the edge, and now there’s only one path for him, which is to reign down terror and devastation on those responsible for kidnapping Alexandra.

But that kind of payback comes at a price and the fact that Branford’s army is by far outnumbered by his enemy’s army lands him in a situation that he may not come back from, but he’s done being played a fool…he’s done feeling trapped in situations that are out of his control…he’s done allowing Alexandra’s kindness and generosity to be taken advantage of…she is his life and it’s time for him to do what needs to be done in order take care of the woman who changed him in so many ways for the better.

Alexandra is the Commoner Queen; she’s the voice of the people and she made sure their needs were met, and now it’s time for Branford and his kingdom to meet the needs of their Queen, and let me tell you, it’s one tale that readers of Shay Savage’s Unexpected Circumstances definitely don’t want to miss because The Devastation is told completely in Branford’s point of view, so that means readers feel his pain…his lack of emotional control…his grief…and his rage. But the one emotion that is felt the most is his undying love for the woman who taught him how to truly be a man and a King.

Excerpt

“Always so melodramatic!”  Whitney sighed.  I turned toward her and glared.

“If you know anything of this…”  I let my voice trail off.  There was something in her eyes I did not like—at all.  It was…knowledge.  “You know where she is.”

The princess merely shrugged.

“She knows nothing of the sort!” Margaret said, but the tone of her voice had changed.  She, too, was looking at her daughter, and I could see the doubt in her eyes.

“You will die if you have touched her,” I said to Whitney.  “Where is she?”

“What difference does it make?” Whitney asked.  “You do not need her; you never have.  I am here for you.”

I scoffed and shook my head, narrowing my eyes at her.  Could she be serious?  As many times as I had told her she would not be made my queen, could she still think there is a possibility of a union?

“Branford, be reasonable.”  Whitney cooed at me.  “We are meant to be, not you and some common trash—”

Whatever else she was going to say remained stuck in her throat as I backhanded her across the face.  She squealed like an animal and fell to the side before Parnell could right her again.

“Get your hands off my daughter!” Margaret screeched from across the room.

“Where is my wife?” I snarled again at Whitney.  I pulled back my hand to hit her a second time while her mother yelled at me.

“I said stay away from her!  Do you hear me?  She is my daughter and a princess!  You will not treat her so!”

I turned and eyed Margaret standing in front of one of my soldiers with her arms pinned behind her back.  I stalked slowly over to her and leaned down until my face was but inches from hers.

“Do you know where my wife is?” I asked her quietly.

“No, I do not,” she said in her haughty tone.  “And if I did, I would not—”

Margaret’s sentence ended in a choking gasp as my blade slid easily into her.  I placed my hand on her shoulder and pushed down at the same time I pulled up with my sword arm, impaling her further with a twist of the blade.

“Then I have no more use for you,” I told her lifeless eyes.

Review

Mishella Santelle has definitely fallen under the “Cassian Court Effect” because she can’t get enough of the dynamically bold and incredibly handsome billionaire who is as much a gentleman as he is a cutthroat businessman. Since accepting Cassian’s contract proposal, Mishella has given him every part of herself; she has been completely open and honest with him even though he has kept his secrets and the ghosts who haunt him locked up, refusing to shed light on his demons and the reasons behind them.

But all of that is about to change because Cassian is finally ready to let Mishella in by uncovering what’s hidden in Temptation Manor and the ghosts who deliver him nothing but pain and disappointment. Mishella is his armeau, and even though the truth leads Cassian further into the darkness and causes him to act out, Mishella is worth the searing pain that resurfaces with his secrets.

There is so much information to process and understand in Cassian and Mishella’s second book, which, at times, makes it difficult to wrap my head around everything that is revealed. A lot of the questions from book one are answered, but new ones are formed based on the events in book 2, especially towards the end. The focus on Cassian and Mishella’s relationship and their willingness to try to make things work between them even after their initial contract expires remains at the forefront of the storyline, but there’s also situations that come out of nowhere, leaving me wondering how significant they will be to the hero and heroine’s relationship.

The sexual chemistry between Cassian and Mishella continues to resonate in the story and their connection is definitely explosive as Cassian works through his past; they are essential to one another’s growth, so it will be interesting to see how they cope with all of the new information as well as the situation they find themselves in at the end of Pretty Perfect Toy.

A bit about me…

I’ve been hooked on books since I was a kid but it got worse in my twenties, when I discovered romances–the hotter, the better. Growing up in Southern California, with lots of surfer manliness surrounded me, was certainly a good boost for reading about delicious alpha guys and the women who adore them. When I learned I had a knack for telling these stories too, I guess you could say I was doomed–though my path toward romance novelist took a few detours via a concert-reviewing gig for my college newspaper (free show tickets…backstage passes…that was a no-brainer), artist interviews for a Beverly Hills dance music mag, personal assistant work for a record producer, dance club disc jockey, and a lot of fun in the hospitality industry.

These days, I still live in California, and have found an amazing alpha guy of my own who was brave enough to marry me. We live on a street that looks like Brigadoon, with our beautiful daughter. I have the best life ever, and never forget to thank the Big Guy Upstairs for it, either.

From NYT & USA Today bestselling author comes a new Bleeding Stars stand-alone novel…

She is his strength and he is her weakness. And this time he won’t let her go.

Edie Evans is gorgeous.

Sexy.

Kind.

She’s also the definition of off-limits.

But that didn’t stop me from sneaking into her room to comfort her at night.

But guys like me? We destroy everything, so it should have been no surprise when I destroyed us, too.

The night I sent her running, I thought I’d never see her again.

Until I saw her standing like a vision in the crowd.

Austin Stone is dangerous.

Alluring.

Tempting.

He broke my heart and I refused to give him the chance to do it again.

It’s been years since I’ve seen him, and now I can’t do anything but stare at the gorgeous, tattooed man playing onstage. I should run. I know I should. But like a fool, I run straight back to him.

Our desire is overpowering.
Our need unrelenting.

She is my hope.
He is my weakness.

We should have known a passion this intense would burn us right into the ground.

Excerpt

“Shit,” I hissed, bracing myself against the spray of the icy shards pelting from the shower head.

I sucked in a breath, released it between clenched teeth, and forced myself fully under it.

Head dropped and chest heaving as rivers of ice-cold water slicked down my shoulders and back.

But it did nothing to lessen the need. Gave me no sanity or pacification.

Because all I could think about was the girl on the other side of the door.

My girl.

In my bed.

Wearing just her panties and my shirt.

An angel I wanted to dirty.

I always had.

Love was messy like that.

All of my restraint scattered. I gripped my cock. Squeezed the base. My mouth dropped open at the pressure of my hand against my rigid length.

A fool thinking it might be enough.

Shit.

God, I was a bastard, but there was nothing I could do before I was giving in, leaning forward and bracketing my forearm above my head to hold my weight.

Water pounded down on my head and back while I pounded my fist against my dick.

Trying to keep silent when all I wanted was to moan, teeth digging into my bottom lip as I pictured the girl spread out for me.

My breaths were coming short.

Panted and hard.

I gave into imagining the sounds she would make when I finally got to bury myself in her body.

A soft, soft gasp.

I slowed, trying to convince myself that throaty sound was all in my mind.

Just another part of this fantasy.

Until I heard the small thump against the wall.

Shit.

I mashed my eyes closed, like it might hide me.

Conceal the depravity of my actions after I’d just been comforting her hours before.

Heart thrashing, I turned and moved far enough to peek out the small section where the fabric shower curtain hadn’t been drawn fully closed.

It was just a little sliver that left me exposed.

But it was enough. When I peered out, I was looking right at my girl pressed up against the wall.

She stared right back at me.

And I wanted to be horrified, my mind scrambling to conjure every weak apology I could summon. Ready to fucking grovel to keep her from turning and running once again.

Because that’s exactly what I expected her to do.

But her expression…her expression clutched me in the center of the chest and sent what little brain function I had left stampeding south.

Red, lush lips were parted, her hand pressed to her hollow of her throat, pupils dilated so big that her hooded, cerulean eyes appeared black. Needy breaths were coming at me from that sweet mouth like a goddamned freight train.

Desire swelled in the confines of the too-tight room.

Alive.

She pressed deeper into the wall as if it might support her weakened knees. Head rocked back. Thighs squeezing together.

Motherfuck.

My hand shot to the shower wall to steady myself. “Warning you, Edie, you need to get out of here. Right now.”

RELEASE BLITZ AND REVIEW: The Sex Education of M.E. by L.B. Dunbar

Title: The Sex Education of M.E.
Author: L.B. Dunbar
Genre: Contemporary Romance
 Release Date: August 22, 2016
Blurb

I’m forty, flabby, and frustrated. Don’t get me wrong, I have a good home, a decent job, and great children. I had a loving marriage for twenty years where we had our ups and downs. It wasn’t perfect; but it wasn’t awful. Then he died.

After the grief took its course, and the reality of my life set in, I grew frustrated. It wasn’t the bills or the struggle to keep my interest in my work. It was life without a man – the only man I’d been with for twenty years. And before you go all feminist on me, it isn’t that I can’t be an independent woman, but there are certain areas where a man is necessary.

You need a fuck buddy, my friend said.
I didn’t even know what that meant.
Is it friends with benefits?, I asked.
Better, you don’t even have to be friends, she offered.

Boy, did I need an education in the modern workings of dating, and sex.

Review

L.B. Dunbar’s latest release, The Sex Education of Me, provides an honest look

into what life is like for individuals in their early forties and how love, intimacy, and risk-taking vary for every person due to his/her experiences in the past and what s/he is willing to invest in after his/her hearts have been tormented and broken.

The title of Emme and Merek’s story is a great play on words that reinforces the fact that BOTH of them – Mary Elizabeth (Emme’s real name) and Merek Elliott – learn a significant amount about sex, desire, and how the messiness of life just might be what they’re looking for regardless of what they’ve thought in the past.

Emme’s “relationship” with Merek was just supposed to be a way to get release from the sexual tension that she’s felt since her husband’s death a year ago but what it turns out to be is not only a sexual awakening of sorts but also a way for Emme to redefine herself…to rediscover her own identity and to rebuild her self-esteem that has been suppressed by her late husband’s disapproval for too many years to count.

Merek’s education comes in the form of a 42 year old woman who doesn’t know how to separate a physical connection from an emotional one. Merck’s prided himself on being emotionally unavailable with all of his conquests; he refuses to give another woman more than his body and a release because the one time he did so, his heart was destroyed. But when he meets Emme, he realizes that he just might be ready to take another step besides the one that involves sex; the only problem is that there’s a bevy of mixed messages from both sides, making an already complicated situation – due to their respective pasts and presents – that much more messy because neither truly know where they stand with one another.

The Sex Education of Me illustrates the difficulties of starting over…of putting oneself back out into the dating world and continuing to push forward even though the past wants to hold you back. L.B. Dunbar does a great job of showcasing the Emme and Merek’s emotional highs and lows as they try to figure out what they truly want and mean to one another and if they’re willing and able to take a ride that could very well change who they are and what they’re willing to endure in order to start a new life as new people with new hopes and new dreams that include each other.

I didn’t begin writing until after undergraduate college. There’d been storylines and characters in my head all my life, but it came to a boiling point one day and I HAD to get them out of me. So the computer was booted up and I FINALLY felt it click. Writing is what I needed to do. After that, I had to teach myself how to write. I can’t blame my teachers for not teaching me all those years in school. It was my fault. I was one of the students that was wishing I was anywhere but at school! So after that day, it took me lots of work until I was able to put together something that resembled a novel. I’m hoping I got it right since someone must be reading this profile! And I hope you keep enjoying my future stories.

Bad Judgment

By Meghan March

Release Day – August 22, 2016

Bad JUD Cover Front

He’s so arrogant.

She’s so self-righteous.

I can’t stand him.

I want her.

He’s a distraction I don’t need.

She’ll say yes eventually because I’m not giving up.

Justine Porter is stuck between a rock and a stripper pole. She lost her law school scholarship, which means she has two choices to keep her life on track: strip for her tuition or tutor the most distractingly sexy guy in her class—the one she’s been turning down for two years straight. It should be an easy choice, but tutoring Ryker Grant could derail her plans to graduate with honors faster than two-for-one night at the Déjà Vu. Then again, topless has never really been her color.

She could take the easy road, just this once . . . but the deal has enough loopholes to trip anyone up.

Who knew they taught bad judgment in law school?

Blurb

A STANDALONE NOVEL that does NOT need to be read in conjunction with any other book.

From New York Times bestselling author, Penelope Ward, comes a friends-to-lovers story with sexy new characters.

After getting dumped, the last thing I needed was to move next door to someone who reminded me of my ex-boyfriend, Elec.

Damien was a hotter version of my ex.

The neighbor I’d dubbed “Angry Artist” also had two massive dogs that kept me up with their barking.

He wanted nothing to do with me. Or so I thought until one night I heard laughter coming through an apparent hole in my bedroom wall.

Damien had been listening to all of my phone sessions with my therapist.

The sexy artist next door now knew all of my deepest secrets and insecurities.

We got to talking.

He set me straight with tips to get over my breakup.

He became a good friend, but Damien made it clear that he couldn’t be anything more.

Problem was, I was falling hard for him anyway. And as much as he pushed me away, I knew he felt the same…because his heartbeat didn’t lie.

I thought my heart had been broken by Elec, but it was alive and beating harder than ever for Damien.

I just hoped he wouldn’t shatter it for good.

Author’s note – Neighbor Dearest is a full-length standalone novel. Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Looking tense, he placed his hands slowly into his pockets as he looked at me. “What exactly happened last night?”

“What are you talking about?”

Nice try dodging the question.

He moved in closer to me. “What am I talking about? You leaving me with a giant fucking basket of muffins and running off before I could even say anything? Ring a bell?”

“I thought you’d be alone. It caught me off guard.”

His eyes softened. “You were upset…”

“No, I wasn’t.”

“You’re a terrible liar, Chelsea. Fucking horrible at it. You don’t hide your feelings very well.”

“You think you know just about everything there is to know about me, don’t you?”

“Not everything. But it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to read you. It’s one of the things I like about you, though. You’re one of the least fake people I’ve ever met.”

“Then, tell me. Why do you think I was upset?”

“Honestly? I think you’re confused about me.”

“Confused…”

“Yes. I think you’re wondering why I opted not to have dinner with you and instead ended up with a woman I’d literally just met, someone who isn’t as sweet as you and sure as fuck isn’t as pretty as you. So, you’re wondering what the hell I was thinking. Am I right?”

That’s exactly what I was thinking.

He continued, “I know we haven’t known each other for very long, but I do feel a connection with you, okay? If you’ve sensed something, you’re not imagining it.”

“Well, if I wasn’t confused before…now I definitely am.”

“I feel like I need to say this now, because I can’t stand the thought of you thinking that I somehow find you undesirable when it’s exactly the opposite.”

I crossed my arms. “Again. Not following you.”

He closed his eyes as if to try to find the right words. “It’s just that I know for sure that I can’t ever be what someone like you needs in a boyfriend, in a partner. It’s not that we wouldn’t have fun or be great together at first. I’m just not good for you in the long-term—not marriage material. And the reasons are too complex to get into, except to say that it has nothing to do with you and everything to do with me. I can’t, in good conscience, start something with a girl like you.”

“A girl like me…”

“Yes. You’re not the kind of girl a guy takes home for a quick fuck. You’re the girl he keeps.”

Right. Just like Elec did.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW: THE SEASON: Rush by Nicole Edwards

NOW AVAILABLE: THE SEASON: Rush

“…it’s a perfect mix of sport and sexiness the chemistry between the two main characters is off the chain it’s like the first half of the book is foreplay then BOOM seriously is there nothing this woman can’t do and do well.” ~Lisa W.

“…it was everything I ever wanted in a sports romance and it was hot. …I have a new goalie that I’m in love with” ~Jackie W.

“I devoured this book yesterday…… RUSH by Nicole Edwards is a MUST read !!!!! You are going to LOVE Kingston and Ellie !!!!!!” ~H.P. Davenport

“Well, Nicole you did it again. Loved Rush and Ellie that women is amazing. I cannot wait for more.” ~Kathy A.

“…And watching as we lost six of the seven preseason games gave me a bit of heartburn, as well, but I’m holding out hope for this year.

We’re skating well, have solid puck handling, the team looks strong. Much stronger than last year, but we’ve still got a long way to go.

Admittedly, I couldn’t let go of some of my key players, no matter how much of a disgrace they’ve been to the team. But I’ve got my eye on one of them in particular right now. Kingston Rush, a.k.a. Mount Rushmore.

Here’s a guy who was the league’s top goalie two years ago, with three Vezina Trophies under his belt.

Quite frankly, he’s a beast and a huge asset to this team—when he’s on his game, that is—so I’m hoping a little extra attention might go a long way.

I have an idea of what got his jock strap in a twist; I simply need to dig deeper to get to the root of it. Something, or rather someone, turned him from the easygoing, mysterious badass to an instigator who started picking fights with everyone.”

RUSH

The SEASON

Coming August 16, 2016

Kingston Rush

Becoming a goaltender in the NHL is the only thing I ever wanted for myself.

Goal accomplished.

Two years ago, I was the best goalie in the league, for the third time. With our Stanley Cup win, the Austin Arrows were on top of the world. Nothing could possibly bring us down.

Wrong.

Turns out, even when you’re at the top, you can find yourself back at rock bottom.

But it gets worse.

Not only did the team fall from grace, then I did too. I was accused of something I didn’t do. And now I’m being forced to repair my tarnished reputation.

Only I don’t know how to do that.

When the suggestion is made for me to pull off this ruse for the media, I know what I’m getting into. I also know there’s only one right answer.

But it’s complicated, and I’m not the only one who could get hurt.

There’s only one major problem.

I can’t say no.

Review

“Don’t assume the score until the final buzzer sounds.”

Now, here’s a sports analogy that has real world applications, and Kingston Rush and Ellie Kaufman would do well to heed this advice because the journey that they take in Nicole Edwards’ latest release, The Season: Rush, is emotional, frustrating, and extremely complicated for a relationship that’s supposed to be pretend.

Kingston Rush is definitely a mountain of a man, and as goalie for the Austin Arrows, he commands that body with precision and finesse, and those moves also make him quite the dirty-talking alpha in bed. He’s lusted after his best friend’s sister, Ellie, for sixteen years, so when he sees an opportunity to have something real with the girl who’s always been off-limits, he takes it, but he seems to get more than he’s bargained for when that arrangement turns his emotions upside down, forcing him to lose his focus, his patience, and his quick reaction time when things matter most.

There’s nothing more important to Ellie Kaufman than her family, especially her daughter, Bianca, and her brother, Spencer. Bianca is her number one priority so she puts herself last in everything she does, which means when her brother asks for a favor and it’s one that puts her in a rather precarious position with a man she’s had a crush on for many years, she can’t help but give in regardless of what it does to her body and her heart.

What I found most interesting about Rush is the fact that Edwards is telling two stories in one and each one has an impact on the other in both positive and negative ways. Personally and professionally, there’s a lot at stake for both Kingston and Ellie, and, at times, the risks seem far greater than the reward, but that’s only because they’re more invested than they’re willing to admit to themselves and each other.

Operation Scale Mount Rushmore is definitely a mission I can get behind, and let me tell you, Ellie takes on that challenge with every part of herself, even though she tries to keep her distance and her feelings hidden from Kingston. I do have to say that Kingston and Ellie frustrated me several times towards the end of the story because they refused to communicate with one another and those things left unsaid ended up changing the dynamics of their relationship.

I’m a huge fan of Nicole Edwards’ stories. She’s a fantastic storyteller because she provides her readers with a complete view of the main characters and the plot line, allowing us to get inside her hero and heroine’s heads and work through their issues with them while also understanding why they act and say the things they do.

I’m a sucker for a sexy sports romance, and that is exactly what Edwards gives readers in Rush, and with the small hints along the way about a certain captain of the Austin Arrows, I’m sure readers are in for a fantastic second book.

A complimentary copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.
