DIRTY LOVE Synopsis

Greer Karas has been mine since the first day I saw her.

I walked away because she deserved better than I could offer, but I always planned to come back and stake my claim when the time was right.

But true to form, Greer wasn’t willing to wait. She threw down a challenge, and I’m meeting her head-on.

I’m not walking away this time because sometimes you have to fight dirty for love.

Review

At the end of Dirty Girl, Greer’s fantasies of a life with Cav turned into a nightmare filled with lies and betrayal, and now that the truth is out, Greer must learn how to live in a reality without the man she believed was her future. But if there’s one thing that readers have learned about Cav from the start is that he doesn’t fight fair, and even though Greer did start out as a job, she’s turned into his everything, and Cav’s bound and determined to give Greer her dirty ever after despite what his lies say otherwise.

Even though Cav fighting for the woman he loves is a prominent part of the story line in Dirty Love, to me, the story is more about Greer’s realization of what Cav brings to her life and the boring, colorless life she’s been living without him. But even if Cav colors her world, Greer needs to figure out if she’s willing to see past his misdeeds and take the gut wrenching emotions that come along with the overwhelmingly amazing ones when she’s with him.

Dirty Love is a great conclusion to Greer and Cav’s story. They’ve always been compatible sexually; in fact, Greer’s able to explore her kinkier side with Cav, but what they need to determine is if/how they fit into each other’s normal lives because their worlds are drastically different and both will have to make concessions in order to be together.

Meghan March continues to create commanding alpha males who ooze sex and power and who aren’t afraid to fight dirty to get what they want. I can’t wait to see who she’ll have dirtying up the pages next.

A complimentary copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

Excerpt

Right now, I just want Cav. I might still want to kill him later, but not right this moment.

I suck his finger into my mouth, laving it with my tongue and lips and dragging lightly down it with my teeth.

As we hurtle down the runway, I make promises to him with my eyes. Take the restraints off or don’t; I’m still going to want you.

Cav reaches out with his other hand and cups my breast, covered only by the soft material of my thin T-shirt. Chill bumps prickle along my skin when his fingers close around my nipple and twist.

A moan escapes my lips, and I press into his touch. We say nothing until the captain announces that we’ve reached our cruising altitude.

Cav removes his seat belt and mine before hauling me back onto his lap.

“Jesus Christ, woman. Feel what you did to me.”

He presses his hips up and against me, and I wiggle my ass against his cock’s solid length.

“I want it.”

“Good, because I’m going to lower you onto your knees, unzip my pants, and help you take it down your throat. And then I’m going to lift you up on my lap and slide your pussy down my cock until you’re full of me.”

His dirty talk kills me every time.

“What are you waiting for?” I ask, my tone taking on a seductive depth.

“Need to taste you again first.”

His lips crush to mine, and his tongue dives inside without waiting for invitation. Cav kisses like he does everything else—throwing his whole self into it. His hand is buried in my hair, tilting my head the way he likes. I moan into his mouth, loving the urgency radiating from him.

Finally, he pulls my head back, his eyes greener than before. “On your knees, baby girl.”

I nod as he helps me to the floor, the plush carpeting cushioning my position. Cav unzips his jeans and fists his cock as he pulls it out. As I lean forward, my hair falls around my face, but with my bound hands, I’m helpless to pull it back.

Cav wraps one hand around the tangled strands and clenches it behind my head. I’m at his mercy, and yet I’ve never felt more powerful. The need in his eyes burns into me, and I want to give as much as I want to take.

DIRTY GIRL Synopsis

Desperately seeking rich, famous, single guy with a giant cock to make my lying, cheating, should’ve-been-born-dickless ex-boyfriend realize what he’s just lost.

Oh, and I give great head. Just sayin’.

No man in his right mind would answer that ad.

Except thousands did.

My name is Greer Karas, and I should never be allowed near another bottle of booze again. Because when I drink, my friend and I do stupid things. Like take a page out of my older brother Creighton’s playbook and post something completely asinine on the Internet. Waking up with a giant hangover to find my humiliating personal ad has gone viral is not my finest moment.

Cue my look of shock when one of Hollywood’s hottest new bad boys, Cavanaugh Westman, comes knocking at my door and drops his pants to prove that he does indeed have a giant cock.

What he doesn’t have is an explanation for why he disappeared from my life without a word three years ago, only to show up on the big screen two years later, killing bad guys in action flicks.

And now he wants me again.

What the hell do I do now?

The loving couple in the rain

Excerpt

Sergio looked ready to strangle me. “No. I don’t believe I asked for an annoying little sister, but if that’s what you’re offering, please don’t let me stop you. Just know, I won’t hesitate to put you over my knee if you get out of hand.”

The minute the words left his mouth. I froze.

He froze.

The taxi driver stared little laser like holes into the rearview mirror.

And Sergio leaned toward me.

I swallowed as tension swirled around us.

He gripped me by the chin and turned my head to the side, his lips brushing my ear. “It’s like you have a death wish.”

“You wouldn’t do it.”

He pulled back as both of his eyebrows shot up, and then he looked down, like he had spotted something.

I followed the direction of his gaze and let out a little gasp as a gun dug into my stomach.

“It’s been directed at you for the last four minutes,” Sergio said through a practiced smile. “I meant what I said. Listen well. I keep my word. Kiss me, and blood will be spilled.”

“Y-you’re a crazy person!” I hissed, shoving at his chest. “And I wasn’t going to kiss you!”

“Sure you weren’t.” He put the gun away. “Good talk though, right? Oh look, the movie theater.”

To say that I scrambled out of the car like a kid running away from her kidnapper would be a gross understatement, but the minute my feet hit the pavement, I paused.

My body told me to run.

The guy had pulled a gun.

On me.

I didn’t even watch violent movies.

Synopsis

Twenty-Four hours before we were to be married–I offered to shoot her.

Ten hours before our wedding–I made a mockery of her dying wish.

Five hours before we were going to say our vows–I promised I’d never love her.

One hour before I said I do–I vowed I’d never shed a tear over her death.

But the minute we were pronounced man and wife–I knew.

I’d only use my gun to protect her.

I’d give my life for hers.

I’d cry.

And I would, most definitely, lose my heart, to a dying girl—a girl who by all accounts should have never been mine in the first place.

I always believed the mafia would be my end game–where I’d lose my heart, while it claimed my soul. I could have never imagined. It would be my redemption.

Or the beginning of something beautiful.

The beginning of her.

The end of us.

EXCERPT – No Place to Hide (Ultimate Vengeance)

No. She couldn’t get Alekzander into trouble with the law simply because he’d stopped loving her and had chosen to move on without telling her first. She should. She should spill every little secret she had, not that there were many. But she never would. Despite everything, he was her daughter’s father.

Then again, she thought, feeling ill, if it came down to it and she had to choose between keeping Lekzi in her life and Alekzander’s freedom, well, there was no choice. But until then…

“That would not work because I was never personally aware of anything he or his family did that might have been illegal. For all I know, their intimidating reputation could have been created simply to make themselves feel special.”

She saw Justin’s head turn her way but didn’t meet the look because then he’d see she was lying through her teeth. He tapped his thumbs on the steering wheel.

“This may sound insensitive, but why didn’t you go back home to your family when things fell apart here?”

Wishing he could drive faster, she answered honestly. “I am an only child, and, as you know, my parents are gone. But even if I had someone there, at that time, I could not afford to go home.” He frowned in confusion, so she went on, her cheeks heating. “While I was with Alekzander, I did not work, or go back to school as I had planned. When I left Russia, I dropped out of my fourth year of university,” she explained. “But I had every intention of applying to colleges here so I could finish my liberal arts degree. I had planned to go into the field of Human Resources, but, as I said, I did not.” She moved on because she could hear how defensive she was beginning to sound. “Alekzander enjoyed having me at home, and I enjoyed being there for him.”

Shame coated that last bit, revealing how little she thought of the decision she’d made back then. She should never have given up her independence. She suspected that had much to do with what had happened.

“So he kept you broke and dependent on him?” Justin questioned as they came out of the tunnel and traveled the relatively empty streets of Queens heading for Sunnyside.

“No, of course not. He was very generous. I had credit cards and a bank account that I could use freely.”

Feeling small, she wanted to add that she wasn’t a parasite, but hearing herself, she found she couldn’t. Her and Alekzander’s first real fight had been about her working to save the money she would need to return to school. He’d convinced her it wasn’t something that had to be decided right then and had quieted her protests by saying they’d discuss her education later. It had always been later. And she’d let him get away with discounting her future. Had she not been such a pushover, so eager to please him, would things have been different?

“I did not use his money after things ended,” she murmured.

“Why? Any other woman, especially a pregnant one, would have withdrawn a large chunk of cash—especially because as a Tarasov he could certainly afford it—and lived off it until she was back on her feet. Why didn’t you?”

“Because I did not want his money. I did not want anything from him.” She shifted, grinding her teeth at the warble in her voice. It signified weakness, and that embarrassed her. “Anyway,” she said, sneaking in another common word Americans used regularly. “How could I go home when I did not have enough money to buy an airline ticket, to rent an apartment once I got there, and to live until I found a job? I could not. So I stayed here where it had already become familiar. And Lekzi and I have done fine without him. Our life is simple, but that is all we need.” She might not have two homes and a private jet, but despite having to save most of her earnings, she was providing for her daughter, and she was proud of that.

When they eventually turned onto her street, she tried not to think about what it would cost her, financially and emotionally, to start over again. Another new city, no friends, no job, no place to live. And it would be so much worse this time because she was dragging her innocent daughter along, making her baby suffer for the sins of her parents…

The world stilled for a split second before Sacha felt the impact of her reality hit with the force of a punch.

A group of well-dressed men milled about in front of her apartment building. Two were on the sidewalk speaking with a uniformed NYPD officer while another two stood in front of the main entrance of the three-story walk-up.

Oh, God. “I told you.” Her whisper was eerily accepting. “He has come for me.”

What do you do when the one you least expect to matter…

Ends up mattering the most?

Derek Pearson likes to think he’s an easygoing guy. Uncomplicated, upfront, and unapologetic with what he wants. His what you see is what you get attitude is on prominent display for anyone who cares to look, and his foul mouth is right there to back it up should you miss the point.

However, what you see isn’t always what you get, and only a select few have ever glimpsed the real man under the brash exterior.

Among them? Professor Jordan Devaney. Complicated, high-maintenance, and vibrant, he’s Derek’s opposite in every way. From the moment they saw each other, a love-hate relationship began.

But what happens when one person wants more?

Review

Derek Pearson and Jordan Devaney are opposites in every sense of the word.

Derek is dark, brooding, troubled and was raised by a man who only helped him see the kind of man he didn’t want to be.

Jordan is carefree, exuberant, playful and comes from a family of wealth and prestige as well as warmth and love.

But regardless of their differences and the fact that one is a college professor and the other a college student when they first meet, their bodies and soon after, their hearts call to one another and long to be together even though there always seems to be an obstacle preventing that from happening.

Derek and Jordan’s story is one that spans over a decade, and Ella Frank takes her readers through all of the men’s highs and lows as teacher/student, friends, and eventually, lovers. For most of that time, there’s a clear line that divides them, and they do their best to stand behind or just straddle the line because there’s too much to lose for both of them.

Derek and Jordan challenge one another, call each other on their shit, and throw sarcastic barbs any chance they can get, but when it really matters…when Derek feels like he has nothing and no one, he can say with confidence that Jordan will always be there because, to Derek, Jordan is what he needs more than anything, and while that might piss Derek off to know how much he relies on someone else to help heal him and talk things through, it also shows the trust and faith he has in the man who owns his heart even if Jordan doesn’t know what to do with it at times.

I love that Ella Frank takes readers back to Derek and Jordan’s first meeting and then shows the complexity and depth of their relationship as the years go by. I’ll admit, at times, the book frustrated the hell out of me because it was obvious from the beginning that Derek and Jordan were perfect for each other despite their differences. But I also understood their decisions and I give them both credit for holding steadfast to their agreement until the right time came about and they were both ready.

What intrigued me the most was how well Frank wove Derek and Jordan’s story with Finley and Brantley’s story while still keeping them separate and giving each relationship its own spotlight. After reading Finley and then heading into Devil’s Kiss and remembering the interactions that Derek and Jordan had while Finn and Brantley’s story was told put a lot of things in perspective and helped enlighten those moments to illustrate what was truly going on then and why it happened the way that it did.

Both Derek and Jordan construct a bit of a facade about who they are, but when they allow someone to get close to them and see what’s beneath the mask, it’s rather interesting to see how their demeanors change and how they allow themselves to give up control as well as exude it.

Ella Frank has truly found her writing niche in the M/M genre. She absolutely knows who her alpha males are and creates carefully constructed personalities that fit who they are and showcase the traits that make them interesting, entertaining, and swoon worthy. I absolutely adored Jordan in Finley, but I was a little unsure about Derek.  In Devil’s Kiss, I was able to get to know Derek and understand how much his past has shaped his present, and once I had that knowledge, it allowed me to respect and appreciate the man that Derek is despite his upbringing and struggles.

Jordan’s old college professor told him to “find what makes you work the hardest, and dare yourself to make a difference,” and he definitely took that advice to heart and even though he struggled at times to know exactly how to accomplish that feat, being there for Derek every time he called and stepping up in every way definitely made all the difference.

THE CALL

Present Day

DEREK PEARSON PUSHED open the door of Leighton, Finley & Associates, and stepped out on the paved sidewalk. It was the first day of August, and if the sweltering Floridian sun was any indication, today was going to be hotter than hell’s waiting room.

As he strolled toward the curb, he pulled a pack of Marlboros from the pocket of his shorts and flipped open the top. He needed a fucking cigarette after watching Daniel Finley and his damn professor get all sappy and shit. That was gonna get old real quick if he had to stomach their nauseating displays of I love yous longer than the fifteen minutes he’d been in there. But he’d known he had to make an appearance sooner or later; otherwise Danny boy would’ve shown up asking questions. Questions he wasn’t ready to answer.

There’d been a reason he hadn’t come around to see Finn when he first moved back from Chicago two months ago, but it wasn’t something he was in the mood to talk about yet, even if he was one of the two people on the planet who would get all the shit he’d been dealing with.

Yeah… He just wasn’t ready to go there.

With a smoke between his lips, he lit up, then shoved the pack back in his shorts. He was so damn antsy lately, and for that he could thank his brother, Alan.

He walked around to the side of his Jeep and pulled open the door. After climbing inside, he grabbed his cell phone and stared at the dark screen, contemplating his next move.

Am I really planning to do this?

Fuck, it seemed that he was, even when he knew better.

If he did this, it would be nothing more than a Band-Aid over the real problem. A shot to numb the more painful issues he was dealing with right now. He would be slipping back into a pattern he had pulled himself out of. An addiction he’d broken free from. But he was also aware that if he didn’t do it, the alternative would be to spiral out of control, and solitude was no longer helping his fucked-up nerves.

He brought the phone to his ear and waited. The phone rang and rang, and fucking rang, until he was close to hanging up—and then it connected.

“You free?” were the only two words out of his mouth. He waited, not caring to pursue small talk. That wasn’t what this was about. All he cared about in that moment was getting what he needed.

When an affirmative came through the phone, he hung up, tossed it on the dashboard, and brought the Jeep to life. As he sped across town, he white-knuckled the steering wheel and didn’t allow himself to think about the consequences of what he was about to do.

It took him less than ten minutes to pull into the underground parking garage of The Palisades and take the elevator up to where his drug of choice waited for him. He glanced up into the camera in the corner of his metallic confines and stared boldly into the face of the one who was waiting at the other end of this ride.

Yeah, he was about to fall off the fucking wagon big time. Was about to slide back into the one place he promised himself he wouldn’t go again. Yet as the elevator came to a halt and the doors opened, there was no denying this was exactly what he wanted.

“I have thirty minutes,” were the words that greeted him.

Derek walked off the elevator and over to the naked man waiting for him. He took the haughty chin between his thumb and forefinger and promised in a voice thick with arousal, “I only need ten. Take me to your room, Jordan. Time’s a wasting.”

It’s time to come home, Finn.

It’s been seven years since Daniel Finley left his hometown in Florida for the hustle and bustle of Chicago’s city life.

Since then, he’s worked hard for his position at the prestigious law firm Leighton & Associates, even when it’s caused distance and isolation from his family and friends. But that’s all about to change.

On his thirtieth birthday, he receives the one thing he never dared hope for. Something that was promised to him years earlier—a note. One simple sentence from the man he’s never been able to forget.

Six words will forever change the course of their lives.

Brantley Hayes has it all. Or so he thinks. When he first made the decision to take a job down in Florida, his family thought he was crazy. But, after years of living in the quiet beach town, he finally feels a sense of community. He’s surrounded himself with friends who are like family, has a job he loves, and owns a spectacular beachfront property that is his sanctuary.

Yet he still feels unfulfilled, as if a piece of the puzzle is missing, and he knows exactly which piece it is. On an impulse, he follows through with a promise he made years earlier. A promise to call home the one he sent away.

Nothing is as simple as it seems.

After years of separation, the former lovers are reunited, but Brantley wasn’t expecting to encounter the high walls now guarding Daniel’s heart.

Daniel may not be the same person he was when he left, but he knows that the first step to healing is the note in his hand.

RELEASE REVIEW: Get Lucky by Lila Monroe

Title: Get Lucky
Author: Lila Monroe
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: May 26, 2016

Blurb

What happens when you wake up in a hotel suite next to a gorgeous naked man with absolutely no memory of the past twelve hours?
I guess it’s true what they say. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
Or at least I hope it stays here. The Romantic Style convention was meant to be a weekend of raucous fun with friends, sun, and enough poolside margaritas to forget about my ex. But now, instead of meeting my fans and signing books, I’m stuck with cocky divorce lawyer Nate Wexler. He’s arrogant, infuriating, and I can’t keep my hands off of him. Judging by the state of our hotel room, last night was wild. I just wish I could remember it.
A pair of matching tattoos. A cheap wedding veil. A half empty box of glow in the dark condoms.
What the hell just happened?

Review

“Everyone goes to Vegas hoping they’ll get lucky.” It’s just what kind of luck they’re hoping for that differs. Gamblers go to be lucky at the tables or at the slots while Lonely men and women might go to get lucky in love or at least lust.

Nate Wexler and Julia Stevens, though, aren’t actually looking to get lucky at all. Nate is there to serve as best man at his best friend’s wedding, and Julia is there for a romance author convention. Neither one of them feels too lucky at the moment because their personal lives haven’t really measured up to what they had hoped they would be, so they’re left with a bit of a convoluted view of love, which is ironic considering Nate’s a divorce attorney and Julia writes romance novels.

But even though Nate and Julia might not be looking to get lucky in Vegas – sin city and tequila definitely take them on one wild ride.

Get Lucky is the romance version of The Hangover – there’s memory loss, hijinks, and inappropriate situations throughout the story, and even though it’s not the groom who’s missing, Nate and Julia go on a fact finding mission that allows them to put the pieces of their night together and learn some things about themselves along the way.

Nate and Julia’s journey is full of adventure, fun, and amazing sex, and even though they disliked each other at first, once they get out of their own way with a little help from alcohol and loosen up their inhibitions, they start to realize that it’s not about measuring up, but it’s about finding the right fit.

Get Lucky was my first read from Lila Monroe and it was just the laugh out loud, steamy story that I needed! I loved everything about Julia and her nicknames for Nate fit her first impressions perfectly.

I’ve definitely found a new author when I need a good laugh and an intriguing story line!

RELEASE BOOST: Wasted Words by Staci Hart

Title: Wasted Words
Author: Staci Hart
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: May 19, 2016
Blurb

Some universal truths refuse to be ignored.

Peanut butter and jelly are a match made in heaven. Spaghetti and meatballs are best friends forever. And guys like Tyler Knight don’t go for girls like Cam Emerson.

She knew from the second she met him that he didn’t belong on her bookshelf, the six-foot-six ex-tight end with a face so all-American, it could have sold apple pie. So she shelved him next to the supermodels and rock stars and took her place on her own shelf — the one with the flannel-clad, pasty-faced comic book nerds. Most of her boyfriends have existed between the pages of books, but rather than worrying over her own lacking love life, she puts all her energy into playing Cupid, using her job at the book bar, Wasted Words, as her stomping ground.

Tyler Knight always looks on the bright side. His career-ending injury turned into a job as a sports agent. A horrible breakup led him to Cam, his quirky, smart roommate who is far more beautiful than she realizes. She’s made it perfectly clear she’s not interested in him — not like that at least — but if she ever changes her mind, he won’t hesitate. Because he doesn’t see the lines she’s drawn between them, as much as she insists that they’re there. Deep down he knows that despite their differences, they’re a match well made.

*A romantic comedy inspired by Jane Austen’s Emma*

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life: a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, even though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey. Her favorite word starts with f and ends with k.

From roots in Houston, to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s sleeping, cleaning, or designing graphics.

About CHARGED

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Marked Men books comes the second installment in the Saints of Denver series featuring a bad girl and a by the book attorney who could be her salvation…or her ruin.

Avett Walker and Quaid Jackson’s worlds have no reason to collide. Ever. Quaid is a high powered criminal attorney as slick as he is handsome. Avett is a pink-haired troublemaker with a bad attitude and a history of picking the wrong men.

When Avett lands in a sea of hot water because of one terrible mistake, the only person who can get her out of it is the insanely sexy lawyer. The last thing on earth she wants to do is rely on the no-nonsense attorney who thinks of her as nothing more than a nuisance. He literally has her fate in his hands. Yet there is something about him that makes her want to convince him to loosen his tie and have a little fun…with her.

Quaid never takes on clients like the impulsive young woman with a Technicolor dye job. She could stand to learn a hard lesson or two, but something about her guileless hazel eyes intrigues him. Still, he’s determined to keep their relationship strictly business. But doing so is becoming more impossible with each day he spends with her.

As they work side-by-side, they’ll have to figure out a way to get along and keep their hands off each other—because the chemistry between them is beyond charged.

Review

“Our story is still being written, Sprite. We haven’t reached the end just yet and there was a lot of editing and revision along the way.”

Brite Walker couldn’t have given his wayward daughter any better insight about life and how it’s supposed to be lived; because despite Avett’s bad decisions, reckless behavior, and need to self-destruct, her story hasn’t reached its resolution yet, and there’s still time to right the wrongs she’s committed, to stop being her own worst enemy, and to keep reaching to be better despite how low she feels about herself, about her past, about the people she put her trust in for far too long for all the wrong reasons.

I absolutely adore Avett. I knew she had a doozy of a story to tell, and I love how raw and real Jay Crownover crafted Avett’s perspective. Regardless of Avett’s long list of bad decisions and her inability to veer from the chaotic path she’s placed herself on, she’s as genuine and honest as any person could be in admitting to her flaws and holding herself accountable for her mistakes, especially the fact that, in many cases, she refused to do anything when she knew those situations weren’t meant to happen and would only cause pain and heartache for those who love her the most.

It’s uncanny to me how Crownover can take two characters who don’t seem to make sense on paper and show how they’re the perfect match for each other because they force one another to look inward…to truly examine their lives and challenge them to do better…to be better not only for those whom they love but also for themselves.

Quaid Jackson may seem like Avett’s antithesis in terms of having his act together, but all it is, is a carefully constructed façade that he’s perfected in order to be more than he was and have more than he did when he was younger. Quaid’s worked his ass off to become a well-dressed, flawless criminal defense lawyer because that’s what he believed made him a worthy man…that’s what proved to himself and those around him that he deserved every materialistic item that he could acquire…that’s what built him up and civilized him in a way that he also thought he wanted…until Hurricane Avett stormed into his life and his heart.

“You’re the best bad decision I ever made, and you are, by far, my favorite story to tell.”

A pink-haired spitfire and a Legal Eagle, civilized man find that with one another, they can be wild and free…they can act on emotion and fall without thinking because they’ll be there for each other despite other people’s issues with their connection and the whirlwind of dangers that surround them. Apart, their stories were at a stalemate; they were stuck repeating the same experiences, never being able to pull themselves off of that course. But, together, their story is an adventure where they can both be untamed…where they can be somebody who matters…is loved…recognizes their worth and finds that their lives were meant to be entwined because that’s the only way that they could have a worthwhile ending – one that leads them to their true selves and the person who makes them better people every day they’re together.

I am in awe of Jay’s writing…I’m absolutely giddy every time I get to read one of her stories because I know that I’m in for a rollercoaster of emotions as well as a discovery of messages that explore what truly matters in life. No one of her tales is the same but the beauty of each one of them is that it leaves a lasting impression on the reader – one that can be learned from and one that can be experienced again and again because the stories remain long after a reader is finished reading.

Excerpt ~ Quaid

She let her arms fall and scooted forward on the chair. She leaned forward and looked at me intently. Her eyes were mesmerizing and I found myself distracted by all the different colors trapped there. I had to ask her to repeat herself when I realized she said something and was waiting for a response from me. I needed to get my head in the game where this girl was concerned…this girl…that was the part I seemed to keep forgetting.

“What did you say?” My voice dipped lower than it normally was and I shifted in my seat as other parts of me started to notice all the interesting and attractive things about Avett Walker as well.

“I said, I Googled you.” She swept some of her hair back from where it had fallen over her shoulder, and I literally had to force myself to keep my gaze locked on her face as the motion pushed her chest up higher and tighter against the plain, black T-shirt she had on.

“Oh, yeah? How did that work out for you?” I knew what she would find: my service record, my wedding announcement, my work history from the firm, various tidbits on my most high profile cases, and various articles chronicling my divorce. Most divorces weren’t newsworthy, but when one of the people involved came from money and the other was as high profile as I was, it made for good filer on a slow news day. I was curious to see what her interpretation of the snapshot of my life that existed on the internet was.

She got up from the chair and started to pace back and forth in front of my desk as she talked. “It worked out well enough, I guess. I saw that you were enlisted when you were younger, which explains why my dad immediately liked you.” She looked at me over her shoulder and a tiny grin tugged at her mouth. “He doesn’t usually like anyone instantly. It takes him a while to warm up.”

I listened with half an ear as I watched her brightly colored hair swish around her shoulders. She didn’t come across as the girly or overly feminine type, so I wondered why she had gone with such a delicate and pretty pink when coloring her hair.

“I learned that you’re a Colorado native, that you grew up in the mountains, that your birthday is right around Christmas, which means you’re almost thirty-two, so you’ve accomplished a lot in your career in a short amount of time. I also learned that you own a lot of suits.”

I snorted out a surprised laugh at that last part, which made her stop pacing. She took a step closer to my desk and put her hands on the opposite edge, leaning forward. The new position made her T-shirt gape at the collar, and even though I refused to look down, I could see the hint of a leopard-print bra peeking out. That hint of something forbidden made my mouth go dry and had my pulse kicking. It was a powerful reaction to very little provocation, and I made myself beat it back, forcibly.

And don’t miss the first titles in The Saints of Denver Series!

Blurb

Hard core fucking.

It’s not what I really want, but it’s all he has to offer. He’s filled with turmoil and heartache and regrets, but for two hours every Wednesday all he feels is me. How much I desire him, how desperate he makes me, how much I’d like things to be different between us. Real.

He used to be my best friend back before he got married. And now? Now, he’s a young widower. It’d be wrong on so many levels to expect something more from him. So I give him what he needs. Dark delicious fucking. But I know I can’t keep this up. I’ve already given him my body, my soul. I want him to have my heart. It might drive him away forever, but that’s a risk I’m forced to take.

Wednesday is an angsty romp told from dual points of view. If you’re in the mood for something quick and dirty, you’ve found it. Proceed at your own risk.

Review

Hump Day has never been more applicable than it is for what Chloe and Shaw spend their Wednesday nights doing, and while their actions may seem forbidden, illicit, and definitely filthy, it’s also the means by which they realize their true feelings for one another.

Chloe’s always been there for Shaw, so it makes sense that she would be the one to try to heal him after his tragic loss…did she expect to use the methods she is in order to lighten his grief…hell no…but she can’t deny him or herself and regardless of the fact that she feels used and dirty, pleasing Shaw is her priority even if her heart breaks in the process.

Wednesday epitomizes smut in the most delicious ways. Shaw is one dirty talker and the ways he manipulates Chloe’s body should be written into a handbook as a guide to filthy fucking!

Review

Lost due to the pressure of never being good enough

Lost due to being abandoned by everyone and everything

Lost due to being used and kept secret and then thrown away

Lost to the past

Lost to addiction

Lost to the need to hold it all together regardless of the need to fall apart

For all intents and purposes, both Tucker Lynch and Charlotte Morsey are lost souls whose pasts have defined their present and whose current actions have forced their futures to veer down a path that neither of them can come back from because, at first, it’s a journey that Tucker forcibly took Charlotte on and now, it’s an adventure that has finally made Char feel alive and found.

Going into Lost, I really didn’t know what to expect. The synopsis is vague enough to peek interest without offering concrete insight into the story line. Once I got into the text a bit, it made sense what Carrie Aarons was trying to accomplish with Tucker and Charlotte’s current situation juxtaposed with snippets of their past relationship. As a reader, I could clearly see what caused both of them to get off track – one living too hard and one not living at all, and within a chaotic and traumatic situation, they are able to hash out their past mistakes, and in a way, start fresh, only this time, they’ve learned to communicate and have faith that now that they’ve found one another again, they’ll never feel lost or alone. But that might not be a choice for them because past misdeeds might just cause everything to be out of their control.

Tucker and Charlotte’s story focuses on the idea of never being good enough and allowing the pressure that other people put on somebody to override everything else. Tucker kept Charlotte a secret all those years ago, but now that they are back to being “us against the world,” it will be interesting to see if what they lost can be found again, especially with what happens at the end of the story.
