No truer words could have been spoken to explain what Jillian is going to need to do in order to reclaim her position as sheriff and get to the truth of what her father was truly up to all of these years. Since Zeek epitomizes the dirty outlaw, he’s the perfect instructor to teach Jillian how to go around the law and even break it so that they stay safe on the run and get the help they need to take Vegas back from a man with no conscience and a thirst for power and blood.

M.N. Forgy illustrates how conflicted Jillian is about the man she loves and why she no longer trusts him. Jillian struggles with her tortured feelings for Zeek for the majority of the first half of the text, which fits with Jillian’s true nature to do the right thing and stand up for justice and truth. But as their story continues and Zeek proves over and over again how every decision he makes and risk he takes is in order to keep Jillian safe, she starts to understand the depths of his feelings for her and that her truths…her beliefs may not be as black and white as she thought they were.

Zeek has definitely been changed by his love for Jillian, but it doesn’t mean that he’s changed from the badass criminal outlaw that he’s always been – he just has something worth fighting for even more than his club. Zeek reigns his wrath down on anyone who threatens Jillian, and he even goes as far as to seek the help from the one person and his club that would be more than happy putting a bullet in Zeek’s head.

Zeek betrayed his club, and Jillian betrayed the code of a servant of the law, but in doing so, they both found the one person who has their back no matter the situation, and as long as they can stay alive and not kill each other with their venomous words and lethal moves.

Reign is the perfect conclusion to Zeek and Jillian’s story. It’s raw, gritty, and eye-opening in the sense of how deep the corruption reigns in Vegas. I loved the scenes with Zeek and Jillian and Lip and the Devils Dust MC members – there’s a lot of turmoil due to Zeek’s past actions, but readers will revel in how these men get over their shit and work towards a resolution. Mercy is more emotional and darker than Reign, and the sex is definitely amped up due to the tension and mistrust between Zeek and Jillian. I definitely hope readers haven’t seen the last of the Sin City Outlaws because all the issues have not been resolved and there are a few other members who I’d like to know better.

Footsteps sounded on the stairs, gaining our attention. A man powered down them rapidly, heading straight for us.

“His poems were always easy for me to remember.” I look around, thinking. “They rhyme, and they feel logical to me. Intuitive.”

“Yes,” She smiles and nods, as if I’ve read her mind. “That’s how I feel!”

Again, I reach for her hand. Looking down, I notice our skin seems to match, although I can tell she’s been in the sun. Her hands are soft and elegant, and I want them on my body. I want her on my body. I want our bodies entwined all night…

When she pulls away, it hurts. “I’d better get back. I only stepped out for some air. They’ll wonder where I am.”

I capture her hand again. “Who are they? Who are you here with?”

Her chin drops, and she looks worried. “Oh, well, umm…” I watch as her eyes trace the flagstones searching for an answer.

I’m hypnotized by those eyes, by her full lips. Reaching out, I touch her cheek. Moving closer, I’m ready to taste her. Her chin lifts, and her pink tongue slips out to touch her bottom lip. It’s like a match to gasoline, and I know the moment we meet, we won’t be going back.”

I usually have a hard time finding manwhore’s endearing – most of the time, it takes most of the story, if not all of it, to understand what the heroine or any of his flavors of the minute like about him. But right from the beginning, Ian had me…HAD ME and a lot of it had to do with Van Dyken writing the book from solely his point of view. So what readers get is an honest, off the cuff guy who knows who he is and portrays himself in a way that makes it clear that what people see is what they get. He’s candidly upfront with everyone – there’s no hidden agenda or deceptive motives – he’s the guy who gets as many girls as he wants, and he’s also the teacher of women who need help in the dating world, and if Ian’s students follow his rules, they’ll get the guy, but better than that, these girls will acquire the confidence they need to take what they want.

But even Ian’s rules and contracts can’t protect him from the girl he never saw coming – a girl who probably wouldn’t even register on his one-night stand list – a girl who turns his life upside down and has him breaking every single edict he had established for Wingmen Inc.

At least Ian and his best friend, Lex, don’t sugarcoat their whorish ways and another strength they have going for their company is the fact that they don’t shit where they work – their relationship service is as professional as they come and their numbers prove that they know what they’re doing. They’re wingmen for hire, and they live up to their names because Ian and Lex do their best to teach their clients how to play the game, read the plays, and read their opponent, so they can claim the guy they’d give anything to be seen by, and with Ian and Lex’s help, the girls get their guys, adding another satisfied customer to the list.

But with one flip flop wearing Adidas girl, Ian’s hit-it-and-quit-it ways start to weigh on him, making him feel like his life is missing something – something big – something all of his “past bangs” could never give him, which terrifies him to death, especially when the girl who makes him want to change…want to keep it in his pants for only one person doesn’t want him and why would she knowing his extracurricular activities and Ian’s less than complimentary comments about her.

The Matchmaker’s Playbook is romantic comedy at its finest. It’s entertaining, sexy, sweet, and extremely witty. Readers will be swooning for Ian Hunter right from the start because he’s just that charismatic – he’s sex on a stick and he’s one hell of a relationship/love coach, even if he doesn’t know the first thing about them when it comes to his own life.

And I have to say – Lex has to be one of the greatest sidekicks – Robins, if you will – that I have ever had the pleasure of reading about and I can’t wait for his book because he may be a numbers man and know how to play the game, but I have a feeling he’s not going to know what hits him when he finally realizes who he wants.

“If you  hurt her, I’m going to break off your favorite appendage.”

“Silly Gabi.” I grinned. “Is that an invitation to touch?”

“Guarantee  if I ever do touch you, it will only end badly.”

“Tease.” I winked.

“Stop that.” She flicked me on the nose. “Your sexual prowess is dead to me. Dead!”

Rolling my eyes, I wrapped an arm around her and steered us both into the kitchen, where the smell of French bread and spaghetti filled the air. “Have I told you how much I miss our weekly dinners? Think we should do it daily? You know, so I don’t starve?”

Gabi shrugged out of my embrace. “Learn how to cook.”

I jutted out my lower lip. “It’s not for lack of knowledge.” I broke off a piece of warm bread, then poured myself a large glass of wine. “It’s because yours always tastes better.”

Gabi groaned loudly. “Damn, do the girls really fall for that? Still?”

“Eh.” I shrugged and made a so-so motion with my hand. “Nine out of ten.”

“You disgust me.”

“You say that every day.”

“Because it’s true every day.”

“When’s dinner ready?” Serena bounced into the room, literally, her head bobbing from left to right. Maybe that’s how girls like her built up more brain cells. They shook the air, and the pressure between their ears exploded, making tiny little brain-cell babies.

Gabi poked her head into the fridge. “When Lex gets here.”

“So it’s ready now?” she asked.

Never mind. No brain-cell babies. I fought the urge to point to the steaming spaghetti and bread sitting on the breakfast bar. Didn’t it look ready, kiddo?

“Technically,” I answered for Gabi. “But we aren’t eating”—I stressed the word “eating” even though I’d just taken some bread—“until my sidekick gets here.”

“Sidekick, huh?” Serena crossed her arms, forcing her boobs to kiss one another and nearly hit her in the chin.

“Oh, I thought you knew.” I gave her a sad face. “I’m the hero in this scenario . . . Even own my own cape. He’s basically the Robin to my Batman.”

“Batman’s hot.”

“So is Robin,” Gabi said defensively.

Whoa. Did she just defend Lex? I felt her forehead. She pushed my hand away and handed me some parmesan cheese.

The door flew open, and Lex stepped through, holding up two bottles of Cab. “Sorry, traffic was shit.”

“Language,” Gabi called.

Lex and I shared a look before Lex stomped over to the swear jar and tossed in a dollar bill.
