Irrevocable Summary

Have you ever made a mistake?

A big one?

I’m back in Chicago and back in business with my boss, Rinaldo Moretti.  So much for my run at a normal life.  There are some new faces in the organization, and someone’s been cooking the books.  Personally?  I think they’re after more than a just little cash.  If I have any hopes of flushing out the traitor, I’m going to need to find a good hooker to help me sleep at night.

As the bodies pile up, I find solace in Alina.  There’s something about her, something different.  She understands me without asking a lot of questions.  It’s as if she’s known me for years, yet we’ve only just met.  If I weren’t so distracted by business, I’d try to figure out her story.  She’s the only one keeping me grounded as my world spins out of control.

I’m going to lose the one man who has ever meant anything to me – the only man to ever call me son.  I want to deny his request, but there is no avoiding what awaits me.  I never wanted any of this, but I’m out of options, and time is running out.

Some choices have unforeseen consequences, and some choices are simply irrevocable.

RELEASE DAY BLITZ: REVIEW AND EXCERPT: Afraid To Fly by S.L. Jennings

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000035_00037]

Afraid To Fly

The Fearless Series: Book Two

Synopsis

I’d like to tell you that I’m ok.

That the meaningless sex with countless women has somehow numbed the pain. That it’s deciphered the constant confusion in my head. Eased the self-hatred that sinks into my gut every time I look in the mirror.

I’d like to tell you that time heals all wounds.

That we evolve and grow into well-adjusted, stable adults, set on a path to right the world’s wrongs. That we are not our past…we are not our pain.

I want to tell you all those things. Hell, I want to believe all those things. But I’d be lying. I’m good at that. Living a lie is the only way I truly know how to survive.
But the day I saw her, I stopped surviving. I stopped existing. And for the first time in 24 years, I started living.

She brought me back to life. Set me free and sent my soul soaring. Made this useless shell of a man feel like…something. Something whole and real and good.

She saved me.
Although she believes I wasn’t even worth saving.

Review

“What was wrong cannot be made right. What was broken cannot be fixed. What was dirty cannot be erased.”

These are Dominic Trevino’s truths – an understanding that has seeped into his pores and consumed his soul ever since his innocence was stripped from him as a child, and those certainties prevent him from soaring…from rising above the guilt, the shame, the disgust of what he’s done and who he is.

Dominic’s a man whose quest for acceptance, a connection of any kind forces him to pursue any form of solace he can find. His need for love…his need to be wanted, desired, needed is what he lives for because that’s what he has yearned for ever since he was little.

But Dominic is NOT his past or the monsters that lurk there. He’s more than his hook ups…more than the broken boy inside…he’s simply MORE.

S.L. Jennings does a tremendous job of getting inside Dom’s head and allowing readers to understand why he makes the choices that he does because it actually isn’t a choice…it’s a matter of survival for him…coping with the heinous acts done to him. He’s been the savior for his friends and the kids he works with, but he needs someone to save him, and he needs to be willing to allow that person to accept everything that Dom is and still want him despite his past…despite his pain. And Raven West wants that job…but they both have to be willing to move forward and overcome the obstacles that are in their way, which are mostly their own insecurities and pasts.

Dom’s journey to fly is filled with pain, heartbreak, and shame. It’s not an easy read because of his past and the self-deprecation he puts himself through regardless of how much his friends try to prove who he really is and why they love him deeply. It’s a slow process with numerous ups and downs, which reinforces the reality of Dominic’s situation and his constant struggles to be more than his nickname.

Cami and Angel play an integral part in Dom’s self-discovery, which makes the story that much better because readers get to see Kami and Blaine’s relationship grow and hopefully, Jennings will give readers Angel’s story, and she’ll find the love that she deserves

Excerpt

It was if my body had known what my soul needed to mend itself from the verbal assault that had left me open and bleeding. Sex was that healing balm for me. And this was exactly the place where I could find it.

None of the dancers here were prostitutes, and I never paid to get laid. Ever. They fucked me because they wanted me. And I fucked them because I needed them. It was an even trade.

Contrary to popular belief, I didn’t stick my dick in just anything, and other than Cherri, had only been intimate with two other girls there: Skylar, a hot sophomore at UNC Charlotte, stripping her way through college, and Velvet, a tattooed, purple-haired vixen from England who fucked like a porn star and cursed like a sailor.

Right now, I needed Velvet. If anyone could make me forget the last twenty minutes, Raven’s razor-sharp words and myself, it was her.

My legs carried me inside, despite the numbness I felt. I didn’t want to be here, but I needed to be. And once I had the soft silkiness and warmth of a woman’s skin against me, I’d feel a helluva lot better. Luckily, Velvet was there for a day shift, working the lunch crowd in her usual getup of velvet and chains. Today she wore a cut-out thonged romper that left little to the imagination. And that was fine by me. I was tired of thinking anyway.

“Hey love,” she smiled as I approached. Her lips were painted a deep, dark eggplant purple that almost looked black. I’d have the color smeared all over me within the hour, most of it in places invisible to the public.

I didn’t waste any time. I didn’t have it in me to go through the motions and pretend I was here for anything other than sex. I leaned in close to her ear, letting my lips brush her earlobe in that sensual way I knew would get her hot, and whispered, “Back room in 10.” Then I quickly made my way to the bar to slam a shot of tequila.

She was there when I arrived, lounging on a plush loveseat with her heeled boots propped up on the arm. She looked at me with sin gleaming in her heavily lined eyes and gave me a slow, Cheshire grin. “Someone’s awfully anxious today.”

I was already loosening my tie as I stalked towards her and said, “Clothes off, boots on and get on your knees.”

Fear Of Falling

The Fearless Series: Book One

S.L. Jennings

I can’t remember the last time I felt completely safe. Security seemed more like a luxury to me, reserved for those who were fortunate enough to have picture perfect childhoods. For those who didn’t bear the ugly scars that keep me bound in constant, debilitating fear. I’ve run from that fear my entire life. But when I met him, for once, I couldn’t run anymore.

He scared the hell out of me in a way that excited every fiber of my being. It wasn’t the tattoos or the piercings. It wasn’t the warmth that seemed to radiate from his frame and blanket me whenever he was near. It was just…him. The scary beautiful man that threatened to alter 23 years of routine and rituals, and make me face my crippling fear.

My name is Kami and I am constantly afraid. And the thing that scares me the most is the very thing I want.

“Don’t worry,” he smiled, pulling me into the hard warmth of his chest. “I’ve got you. I’ll always catch you when you fall.”

And just like that, Blaine had staked his claim on the untouched part of me that no living soul had ever moved. He had captured every fear, every reservation, and crushed them in the palm of his inked hand.

About the Author

Callie has experienced many changes throughout her life, and gone through many ups and downs that have all worked towards shaping and molding her into the person she is today: fun loving, active, social, and hard working. The only thing that has remained a constant throughout her life is writing. Creating characters who will tear your conscience in two is a favorite pastime of Callie’s. There are few real saints and sinners in her books; more often, the denizens of her stories are all very human. Broken, flawed, and always with the potential for redemption.

Despite the subject matter being markedly hot and heavy in comparison to the stories she wrote in elementary school, there will always be an element of fairytale to her work.

BLOG TOUR STOP: REVIEW, EXCERPT, AND GIVEAWAY: The Story of Lansing Lotte by L.B. Dunbar

TSOLL Tour Banner

Title: The Story Of Lansing Lotte (Legendary Rockstars #2)

Author: L.B. Dunbar

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: April 28, 2015

goodreads

Synopsis

I get it. I’ve heard the jokes. My name sounds like some medieval character who was a hero. Hell, my best friend’s named Arturo King. Ring any medieval bells? But this is my story and I’m no hero. I also get the jokes. Lancelot is a play on the words lance and lot, and a lance refers to a sword, which is a euphemism for dick. What does a man do with his dick? He fucks. A lot. So if my name is Lansing Lotte, I must be “fucking lot.” Get it? Fucking a lot? Which I’m not saying I don’t, that’s not the point. Another reference to something sexual. Get my point? Huh, I made a punny. But again this is my story, and I haven’t done anything funny. In fact, I’ve killed three women, and only one of them I loved. Yeah, that’s right? Not laughing now. It’s not funny. And I’m definitely no fucking hero.

Review

Missed opportunities or fate?

This is what seems to be the basis for how Lansing has lived his life and continues to live since Arturo King’s disappearance, and with Arturo missing in action, Lansing takes the opportunity to see if he has a chance with the one person who he always wanted to be his – Guinevere. But Lansing putting himself in the midst of a precarious situation, involving other women from his past and another one from his present, puts him on a path that has significant damaging effects on all those involved, and at the end of the story, readers and Lansing still don’t fully understand the consequences of his actions.

There’s a lot to the man whose nickname is The Lady Killer…much of it, he doesn’t allow many to see because his persona as a rock star gets in the way, but to a select few, those who truly understand him, they know the man behind the façade, and he’s passionate, conflicted and loves hard. But those same qualities that make Lansing endearing are also ones that complicate his life and force him to make decisions that change the course of many lives, including his own.

I loved Lansing Lotte’s story, and the way L.B. Dunbar created the story line to shed light on its varying aspects and Lansing’s various ladies worked well. It’s a bit complicated keeping all of Lansing’s love interests straight, but each one of the women and his relationship with them illustrates his multiple dilemmas and what he’s struggling to find for himself.  I also loved the fact that Dunbar gives readers Lansing the knight and Lansing the human being who makes poor judgments and errors that cost him and others dearly. Good people can make poor decisions and Lansing is a testament to that idea, but at the end, Lansing understands the path he is supposed to take – the chance he is supposed to grab onto and he follows it and figures out where his heart belongs.

Excerpt

“Because I know you love her. It must hurt.”

“I…I don’t know that I’m capable of love, Lila. All I seem to do is destroy women, and myself.” She reached a shaky hand for me and pushed my longish bangs back from my forehead. It was surprisingly comforting.

“I don’t believe that,” she said. “I think you just have difficulty choosing someone safe.”

Her fingers continued through my hair and my muscles relaxed. It was soothing. It was motherly, which should have creeped me out, but didn’t. I don’t know what prompted me, but I laid my head down on her stomach. Her breathing was ragged, and I could hear her heart beat rapidly through the oxford shirt. She was holding her body still, but she continued to gently run her fingers through my hair. She was hesitant at first, almost as if she was petting me, but her fingers slipped into my longer locks and she massaged back and forth over my scalp.

I was relaxing into her stomach and my nose nuzzled against her. She was firm under there, and she had that sexy hip thing going on. She sucked in a breath when my nose drew a line back and forth across her belly. My mouth watered to get a taste of those hipbones just below her navel. She was dragging her fingers through my hair more intently, and I slid my face down her belly. She had a sweet fragrance about her, something flowery and something I wasn’t certain of at first. Instantly, I recognized that Lila smelled like sex.

My hand came up to remove the blanket from her legs and I heard her sigh. Her hand wrapped into my hair, tugging gently, and I took it as a sign to continue moving down her body. Her legs opened slightly and my nose dragged closer to my destination.

“You smell sexy, Lila.”

She sighed again and a choked sound followed. My eyes glanced up to discover hers were closed. Her head leaned back and her lips parted. I dragged my nose across her damp panties, inhaling her sweetness.

“You want me?” I breathed against her, knowing she was wet and ready for me under the cotton. I couldn’t believe it. Lila gave no hint that she was attracted me. She was well aware that I was continually turned on around her, but she gave me no indication that she could be attracted to me. Unless…

“We’re friends, right, Lila?” I said, a bit of curiosity in my voice.

She sighed again and I blew a breath onto her. Her arousal was heady, and I was intoxicated by her.

“We could be friends. Together. It would be a good distraction.” I kissed her over the cotton and I felt her sit upright. She looked drugged; her eyes glassy and confused.

“I can’t,” she said on a choke.

“What?” I softly groaned.

“I…I can’t do this with you.”

“Lila, I didn’t mean…”

She was pushing back into the corner of the couch, forcing me to sit upright. She grabbed the blanket off the floor to cover her, but then decided to stand.

“Lila, I…”

“I can’t compete with ghosts, Lansing.”

“Lila, it’s not like…”

“I know all about ghosts…and I can’t fight them whether dead…or alive,” Lila added, as she held the blanket before her legs like a shield and quickly turned to leave me stunned on the couch.

About Avery Flynn

AFlynnShoes-1-230x344

Avery Flynn has three slightly-wild children, loves a hockey-addicted husband and is desperately hoping someone invents the coffee IV drip.

She fell in love with romance while reading Johanna Lindsey’s Mallory books. It wasn’t long before Avery had read through all the romance offerings at her local library. Needing a romance fix, she turned to Harlequin’s four books a month home delivery service to ease the withdrawal symptoms. That worked for a short time, but it wasn’t long before the local book stores’ staffs knew her by name.

Avery was a reader before she was a writer and hopes to always be both. She loves to write about smartass alpha heroes who are as good with a quip as they are with their *ahem* other God-given talents. Her heroines are feisty, fierce and fantastic. Brainy and brave, these ladies know how to stand on their own two feet and knock the bad guys off theirs.

I was feeling pissy.
Rome could tell, I knew, but thankfully,
he didn’t try to distract me or talk me out of it. It wouldn’t have worked
anyway. Sometimes a guy just felt pissed.
Okay. Sometimes I just felt pissed.
I hefted the last of the girls’ shit
down the stairs and out into the driveway. Why women needed so much stuff I had
no idea. I mean, hell, they walked around in tiny-ass bikinis all week, not
like they needed the fifty pounds of crap they brought with them. Except for
Rim, of course. She had one bag, one full-coverage swimsuit, and one thankful
big brother.
“That everything?” Romeo asked when
Trent and I handed over the last of the haul.
“I hope the hell so,” I replied.
Trent snickered. “Dude, I don’t even
want to know what’s in those bags.”
Rimmel came down the steps with a list
in her hand and stopped beside me. I glanced down to see the checklist the
rental company left of all the things that needed to be taken care of before we
left. “Everything is done,” she stated.
I noted the neat checkmarks beside each
item and smiled. “Only you would find homework on spring break.”
She elbowed me in the gut, and I made a
sound like it hurt. It didn’t, but I didn’t want to make her feel bad. It
wasn’t her fault she was harmless as a fly.
“Sweet. Let’s go, then. The airport is
waiting,” Romeo said.
Trent glanced at the red convertible.
“You sure we’re all gonna fit in there?”
“Like sardines in a can,” I muttered.
“We’ll make it work,” Romeo said.
“Easy for you to say. You’re driving,” I
cracked.
He gave me the finger.
“I’ll sit in the back because I’m
smaller. One of you guys can take the front,” Rimmel offered.
Technically, we had one person too many
for the car. However, instead of calling a cab or renting anything else, we
were just going to put the extra person in the back. It was illegal, but who
the hell cared?
Missy and Ivy came out the door and
started down the steps. Ivy was moving slow and Missy kept her pace, holding
her arm like she was an old lady with a broken hip.
“Move your ass, Blondie!” I yelled.
“We’re gonna miss our flight.”
“Braeden!” Rimmel scolded me. “She’s
hurt.”
I grunted. “It takes a lot more than a
bottle cap to take that one down.”
From the stairs, Ivy told me to go suck
an egg. I looked back at Rimmel and lifted an eyebrow. “She’s so delicate.”
Rimmel glared at me, and I knew I was
about to get a lecture. God help me. If any other woman tried to lecture me,
I’d tell ‘em to piss off. But Rim was different. She’d somehow gotten her way
in my heart and made a place there. I was really good at keeping women out of
there, but this was different. This wasn’t a romantic type of love; it was
family. She was family.
In my pocket, my cell rang. “Sorry, sis,
I gotta take this,” I said, trying to sound so sad I would miss her
instructions (okay, I didn’t sound sad at all) and pulled it out.
It was my mom.
“Mom,” I answered and turned away from
the group.
“Hi, Braeden, honey,” she said. “I’m
just calling to make sure everything is still on schedule with your flight
home.”
I was twenty-one years old and my mom
still called to check up on me. She’d probably still do it when I turned fifty.
“We’re heading to the airport now, Mom. Everything’s good.”
“Okay, well, you boys have a safe
flight. And Rimmel, too.”
“Will do.”
I expected her to say her usual good-bye
and end the call. But she hesitated.
“Mom?” I intoned. “Is something wrong?”
“Oh, no,” she laughed, but it was
strained. “I just miss you is all.”
“I’ll stop by once I get settled back on
campus.” Or maybe I’d just swing by on the way from the airport. I didn’t like
to think of her sitting around worrying about me. Or being lonely.
She’d wanted me to live at home when I
went to college, and I did freshman year, but I wanted to live in the dorm. I
wanted a little more freedom, some space that was just mine. So I moved on
campus. Sometimes I felt bad about it.
“I’ll look forward to it,” Mom said,
breaking into my thoughts.
“Cool. I gotta go or we’ll be late. I’ll
call you when we land.” I turned back to everyone. Trent was helping Ivy into
the car, his hand on the small of her back.
I shoved the phone back into my pocket
and went to the car. Trent was getting ready to squeeze himself in the backseat
with the girls.
“You want the front, dude?” I asked.
“Nah, you can take it,” he replied.
I slid into the front and spun the hat
on my head so it wasn’t backward anymore and then pulled it low on my forehead.
The inside of this car felt like a pair of jeans with too much ass in them.
I ignored the chattering of everyone in
the back as Romeo pulled away from the house and onto the main road. The vacay
had been a fun time. And last night…
Well, I wasn’t going to think about that
anymore.
Ten minutes down the road, a bare foot
came up between the seats and rested on the center console between Rome and me.
I glanced over and caught a flash of red polished toes and the edge of a
Band-Aid.
“Your feet stink,” I snapped.
“Who sprinkled the bitch in your coffee
this morning?” Ivy retorted.
I sat up, leaned around the seat, and
stared at her from beneath my hat. She was in the middle with Missy, poor Rim
squished up against the door, and Trent was on the other side of Ivy. Her hair
was falling around her shoulders and her arms were crossed over her chest.
I felt our eyes connect; even with my
hat partially blocking my gaze, my eyes still found a way to fix on hers. A
shock of awareness jolted me, like a shot of tequila that lit a fire all the
way from my throat to my stomach and then fanned out to coat my limbs.
Ivy’s teeth sank into her lower lip, and
I had an acute memory of sucking it into my mouth and licking over it with my
tongue.
There was no way she could know what I
was thinking. I gave not one indication. Still, her body tensed and she pulled
back her foot, withdrawing as far away from me as she could.

The Hashtag Series #4

7deef-synopsis

It’s all about the #selfie.

She was the one girl I never wanted.

Until I had her.
One night.
One mistake.
Something we both wanted to forget.
I got rid of the proof. The one piece of evidence that could remind us both.
At least I thought I did.

When it shows up on the school Buzzfeed rumors fly. Friendships are tested and the feels get real.
I don’t do relationships. I don’t open my heart.

Especially for a girl everyone knows I hate.
What happens at spring break, stays at spring break.

Until it follows you home.

You can often find her running on the treadmill (she’d rather be eating a donut), painting her toenails (because she bites her fingernails), or walking her chorkie (the real boss of the house).
