Security had better not have let one of those asshole journalists from downstairs up to my floor. I swear, those soul suckers would do anything to get a new detail to add to their nothing stories. I open the door without removing the chain and feel as if I’ve been punched in the gut when I see the woman on the other side.

Liz is worrying her lower lip between her teeth and watching down the hall. Is she looking for Sabrina or trying to make sure no one sees her coming to my room? My insides twist at the sight of her—an internal tug-of-war between conflicting emotions. I want to pull her into my room and kiss her until she can’t see straight, touch her until she promises never to leave me again, and at the same time, I want to demand that she go back to her room because having her close makes me hope for things I can’t have.

I remove the chain and tug her inside by the arm before closing the door behind her.

“No one saw me,” she says, her eyes locked on the floor. “I made sure.”

“I saw you,” I growl. It’s painful to be this close—to breathe her air, to smell her perfume. I never knew how much it could hurt to want and be denied.

She swallows and avoids my eyes. “Is she here?”

“What do you want, Liz?”

She lifts her head and stares at me. “Is she here?”

“Sabrina’s on her way to meet her mom in South Dakota for a campaign stop.”

Her gaze dips to my bare chest and back up. “I’m surprised they didn’t ask you to go with them.”

“They did. I declined.” I sound like a fucking dickhead, and I make myself take two steps back so I don’t do something equally dickish. Like kiss her until she melts in my arms and forgets about the other guy, until we both forget that this is hopeless.

“I’m sorry that video was leaked. You didn’t deserve that invasion of your privacy.”

She has red lipstick on, and it matches her shoes. Ever since I saw her tonight, I’ve been picturing her on her knees in nothing but those shoes, those red lips stretched around my cock. I can’t help myself, and I skim my thumb over her bottom lip.

The second I touch her, she draws in a ragged breath. “You came to my apartment yesterday.”

“I did.”

“Why?”

I trail my thumb down her neck and over the red strap of her dress. “Probably for the same reason you came here tonight.”

“To talk about Sabrina?”

“You knocked on my door in the middle of the night to talk about Sabrina?” I follow the strap down and graze my fingers across her cleavage. “Is this about her, or is it about you and me?”

Lesley Jones Biography

I was born and raised in a small working class town in Essex, just outside of East London. I am married with three sons and in 2006 we all moved to the other side of the world, settling on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, about 50K outside of Melbourne, Australia. It’s a whole new way of life for us down here, we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world.

I am currently a stay at home mum but in the past I have worked at Marks & Spencer, as a classroom assistant/teachers aid and have run my business.
As well as writing, I love to read and have been known to get through four or five books a week. My other interests are watching my boys play football…The round ball version.  I am happy to admit to being an addict of social media and I owe a lot to my Facebook and Twitter family in promoting my work. I am also rather partial to a glass… or bottle of wine, a nicely chilled Marlborough Sav Blanc being my favorite. “When he lunges for me, I’m ready. I deflect the hand he was going to grab me with, slapping it downward, and then I grab onto his wrist, pulling him off balance. He seesaws forward but then rips his wrist out of my hand. I don’t expect him to turn his slight fumble to his own advantage, but he does. Dropping to the floor, he rolls and kicks out, landing a solid strike to my leg. I have less than a second to brace myself before I’m hitting the concrete.
Then he’s on top of me. “Oh, this is fun, sweetheart. But I don’t really have time to be playing games with you right now.”
He’s reaching for my arms, about to pin me to the ground, but I jab, landing a solid hit with my extended fingertips right in the base of his throat, in his windpipe. He falls to the ground with a flop, screaming his lungs out.

“Whoops.” I laugh. “I guess you don’t like Brokeback Mountain. The mountain being me, in this case. Television ain’t all that, now is it?”

He cries out as I haul him back to the couch and cuff him to the heater. His hand is so close he screams even more.

“Burn, motherfucker,” I say, chuckling to myself.

“Please!” he begs.

“Please, end your life quicker?” I ask, leaning in with raised brows.

He nods quickly, trembling in place.

I shake my head. “No.”

“Yes,” he pleads.

“No.” I frown. “But I guess you don’t understand that word, now do you?”

He shakes his head even more so.

I shrug. “Oh well, it’s time for you to learn what it means when you don’t listen and use someone for your own pleasure.”

I place the stapler on the table and search through my bag until I find a pair of scissors, which are so sharp the blade cuts me when I reach for it. His eyes almost bulge out of his head as he sees me grab all these tools. I smile at him, fascinated by the decline of his sanity. Or mine. I’m not sure.

Mia literally wiped his mind of any intelligence he ever had with her disrobing. Ethan couldn’t think. Well that wasn’t entirely true. All he kept seeing was his hand sliding up and under her skirt, feeling the heat he knew would be there.

When he finally broke through her spell, he threw on his shirt, put on his shoes, and helped her fold up the blanket.

Grabbing the bag with one hand and her wrist with the other, Ethan stalked off towards their parking spot. He eventually slid his hand down and entwined his fingers with hers. In response she gave his hand a sympathetic squeeze. She knew exactly how he felt. He could only hope it was because she felt the same, that she wanted him as much as he wanted her. They made it to the car. He unlocked it and threw the bag in the backseat when what he really wanted to do was to throw her back there and fuck the smile right off her face.

He needed to calm himself down or he’d take her with no finesse. “I want you, Mia. Here and now.”

“And this is a problem how?” she asked innocently.

Grrr …

“Get in the car,” he ordered.

“Seriously?” she asked, her eyes wide with excitement.

“No way, Mia,” he answered. God, her obvious want just increased the desire to throw her in the car and fuck her right there.

He eyed the front seat, a silent order for her to get in. Mia scrambled and got herself in the car. Closing her door, Ethan then hurriedly got in himself. When he finally pulled in the alley, Ethan let himself breathe. He opened the garage and pulled her car inside. Shifting the car to park, he turned off the engine.

“We’re here,” he announced.

“We are,” she said calmly as she undid her seatbelt. Then all hell broke loose.

Fuck finesse.

During the day, Ryleigh is an analyst, but even then, she’s writing, sneakily crafting scenes on post-it notes. She’s been told she’s a bit of a geek…some say nerd. She’ll agree to it all. She loves music. It’s been a force in her life for as long as she can remember.
