I love MC books. They’re raw and gritty; they present a lifestyle that I will never be a part of, so I feel like a voyeur in a completely foreign world. Reading an MC book excites me, frustrates me, turns me on – it takes me through the gamut of emotions up until the very end of the book, where, if I’m lucky, I get the payoff that I have been looking forward to since the beginning. Lady Renegade fit the bill perfectly!
Lady Renegade is a great MC book…what I like most about it is that there are so many twists and turns in the storyline that it keeps you interested all the way through. It has a fantastic group of characters – the heroes (Chipper, Kidd, Reese, and Timber) are filthy mouthed men who take what they want when they want it with no excuses. They work hard, and they play harder, and they wouldn’t have it any other way. The heroine, Jenna, aka Ice, had a horrific childhood and her teenage years left her abused and damaged until Chipper saved her. She is an incredibly dynamic character; there are so many sides to her that none of the men in the MC club she runs with truly knows her, and she likes it that way because she’s not willing to give up her whole self to any man. The villains are deplorable men and spiteful, jealous women who turn the Renegades world inside out. It’s amazing all of the chaos that any given day brings when you are a member of an MC.
The book spans a number of years and shows how Jenna finds a home with the Renegades and a family with Chipper and Mindy; it explores her infatuation with and then love for Kidd – a man a decade older than her. It demonstrates the damage that spiteful words can cause a naïve girl and how that incident can mold her into an Ice Queen – a woman who makes her own decision and freezes everyone out because she refuses to be anyone’s property.
But what happens when Jenna’s only two options are to become an old lady or leave the club for good? What happens when Jenna’s past threatens to reclaim her? Can she finally have the man she has loved all these years or will she continue to be the club whore?
Overall, Lady Renegades is a solid story that presents the hardcore world of bikers. The content is filled with gun fights, drugs, rapes, and hot sex – the MC world at its rawest. Jenna is a gutsy and feisty woman who bows down to no one, and Kidd, even though I wanted to shake him for about half of the book, redeems himself by finally claiming what readers have known all along was his. I can’t wait to read Preacher and Daisy’s story – I hope to catch up with all of the Renegades in Book Two.

Dawn Martens is a young, spunky Canadian Author, who is widely known for her best-selling “Resisting Love” series that she co-authored with Author Chantel Fernando. Being a wife to Colin, and a mother to two (soon to be THREE!) beautiful little girls (Sarah (6), Grace (3), Ava on the way!) hasn’t stopped this Canadian Firecracker from pursuing her dreams of becoming a writer!
