Wanted by You is a sweet and sexy story about best friends turn lovers. The first day Carter met Ellyson freshman year, she ruined him for other girls. For nine years, Carter and Elly have loved each other, but they have never acted on their feelings because they weren’t willing to risk their friendship or their hearts by potentially being turned down. All of that changes when Carter moves back to New York City after 5 years of being home in Texas, and even though Carter and Elly have lost touch, when they meet up again, their connection is still there…their desire for one another is still there, and this time, they both are going for it.
Carter is a fantastic hero. He’s the kind of man you wish every woman could find. He’s passionate, loving, and he doesn’t let Elly shut him out even when she tries like hell to do so. Readers can tell how much he loves Elly with all the little things he does for her. I wish I had a hot Lit Professor like Carter when I was in school!
Elly is a strong, independent woman. She struggles, at times, to let Carter in because she’s scared of the “what ifs” in life, but she works through it and finally leans on him when she needs to.
Carter and Elly, as a couple, are disgustedly cute – in a good way. Readers can tell that they belong together. She’s Sylvia to his Mickey. They complement each other in so many ways that it seems crazy that they waited so long to be together.
What I like most about the text are Carter and Elly’s friends. They are a hilarious crew who go out of their way to do whatever they can to help each other. There’s one part in the story that will show readers how tight this group is – I’m not going to spoil it for you, but you will know it when you read it. They are truly each other’s wingman…I definitely would love to hang out with them.
Wanted by You is a great read. There’s not a lot of angst, which is good because sometimes, readers need a light read amidst all of the heaviness. I love the fact that Carter and Elly’s relationship is pretty solid throughout the whole story…they have a few bumps in the road, but what relationship doesn’t? I do wish we were given a bit more insight into Carter’s family…why all three siblings have such disdain for their parents…what Carter’s dad used to be like. I also would have liked a closer look at Carter and Elly’s relationship when they were together during their college days. I wanted to see how strong their connection was back then to understand its quick transition now. Overall, though, I would definitely suggest reading this text. It’s a great mix of romance, passion, and friendship.
I can’t wait to see which couple is up next in the Love in the City series, and I hope we get to see more of Carter and Elly…maybe Elly’s dad will finally get to open one of his letters?
