Jacqs is a twenty-eight year old woman caught up in an on again, off again relationship with Bond, who is her best friend and the one who causes her the most heartache. She succumbs, yet again, to his powerful charisma, but vows not make it into more than it is, a great night of sex.
Bond, too sexy for his own good, wants Jacqs for himself as he “dates” his way through the female population of South Florida. He selfishly doesn’t see the conflict of interest.
Red, Bond’s best friend, has watched Bond take Jacqs for granted for way too long and soon stakes his own claim on her.
Will Red and Jacqs budding relationship pull apart their tight-knit group of friends and will Jacqs survive being Stuck In Between.

The heart wants what the heart wants, and for Jacqs, the heroine in Blakely Bennett’s Stuck in Between, it seems her heart desires two men…best friends, Bond and Red. It didn’t start out that way; Jacqs was only with Bond, but he wanted her and other women as well, and she ended up broken heart more times than not. Even though Jacqs knows she shouldn’t want Bond because she feels he’s incapable of being faithful, she’s loved him for eight years, and it’s a really hard feeling for her to simply shut off. But when Red puts himself out there and finally admits to Jacqs the feelings he’s been harboring for her for years, things get a bit complicated. Will Jacqs have to choose between Bond and Red or can she stay stuck between them and make a relationship go with both?
My feelings are all over the place when it comes to the characters in this book. Bond absolutely infuriates me for much of the text; his mentality about how it’s okay for him to act one way but not for Jacqs to do the exact same thing is beyond warped. Yes, I understand there’s a back story about why he’s the way he is, but come on, there comes a time when a person has to stop using excuses and actually take a look at himself and see how his actions affect other people. Jacqs is a complete mess for much of the story. She’s been in such a vicious cycle when it comes to her relationship with Bond that I was actually cheering when she chooses to give it a go with Red. The hold Bond has on her makes sense, but I can’t quite wrap my brain around how she still wants him, knowing that he probably isn’t going to change. Red is a bit of a wild card for me. Readers aren’t given as much insight into him as the other two main characters. I wasn’t really sure what made him tick for most of the story. He’s had feelings for Jacqs for a long time but has never wanted to cross the line because Bond is his best friend. When he finally makes his play, the fact that he’s willing to let Jacqs also be with Bond troubles me a bit. Yes, he knows that she will always love Bond and feel a connection to him, but I don’t think I’d be willing to risk my new relationship by bringing another person into the mix. It’s quite the tangled web with these three. The fact that I’m so invested in this triad proves that Blakely has written a great story.
Overall, Stuck in Between is a fast paced sexy read that sheds light on love’s complications. The storyline flows well and the supporting characters are also a great addition. Jacqs, Bond, and Red’s relationship is unconventional, but if it works for them, who’s to say it’s wrong?
