Dangerous Protector
Federal Paranormal Unit 2
If you run from love, you’re asking for a chase…
James Brock lived the past ten years without the woman he loves. Using his job as head of the Federal Paranormal Unit to help others, he’s done a good job of ignoring his lack of a personal life until she returns. His salvation. His first love.
Cynthia Vega had a very good reason to leave the only man she loved after she’d accepted his marriage proposal. Now she’s back as his boss. And he’s not willing to ignore their chemistry or the past.
Brock is determined to claim his mate and prove that their passion is even hotter than before. He wants her and her explanation behind their separation. Except, some secrets won’t stay buried in the past. Brock will fight his demons to follow her lead, but Cynthia’s reluctance to explain their lost love may be the one key to their destruction…

It’s not often that I read paranormal romance anymore, but when I saw that Milly Taiden released book 2 in her Federal Paranormal Unit series, I knew I needed to read it, and I’m so glad that I did. A group of FBI agents who use their special skills to apprehend a variety of criminals is an intriguing idea, and then when you add in the sexual chemistry amongst the team’s members and the fast pace nature of the storyline, it can’t be anything but a must read.
For ten years, Dangerous Protector’s hero, James Brock, and heroine, Cynthia Vega, have been merely going through the motions of living. Work has been their lifeline since Cynthia ended their relationship all those years ago with not so much as an explanation. But now that she’s back in James’ life again, he’ll be damned if he lets her get away this time. He’ll do whatever it takes to not only get the reasons behind her leaving but also to reclaim her as his mate. Cynthia’s only reason for heading the Federal Paranormal Unit, a unit that James should be directing, is because her boss wants her to, and she’s damn good at her job. Regardless of those facts, though, she has no idea how she’s going to be able to work with James without succumbing to her feelings for him, which is exactly what James is counting on.
As James and Cynthia work together to solve a case that involves two of Cynthia’s family members, the sexual tension between them is too much for them to contend with, but when they finally give in to what they both have wanted ever since Cynthia left, will she finally be able to let James in and help him understand why she left all those years ago, or will the case reinforce her fears and send her running once again?
Dangerous Protector is a fantastic read that effortlessly combines mystery, suspense, and steam. As James and Cynthia work the case and attempt to find answers, James also focuses on rebuilding his relationship with her and getting her to see that he’ll never let her leave this time. Both the main characters are well developed, and while readers may not agree with Cynthia’s choices, Milly Taiden makes sure we understand her reasoning. If readers are looking for a paranormal read with a well written storyline and hot sex scenes, this is definitely one to pick up.

Cyn turned the knob and entered into his private space. The soft scent of jasmine immediately dug into his lungs. He didn’t want to like it. Didn’t want to bury his nose in her neck and inhale hard. So damn hard he’d feel the animal under his skin fighting to let loose.
He grit his teeth and frowned instead. “What can I do for you, Vega?”
She lifted a brow. He watched her torture her bottom lip with her teeth for a moment before she finally spoke. “I guess you’ve heard, huh?” She shifted in her pantsuit, as if uncomfortable.
“Heard?”
Her hazel eyes turned a greenish color. Not the aroused gold.
“That bastard!” The green showed off her anger. “I should have known he wouldn’t tell you,” she muttered and started pacing the confines of his office. “No, leave it to me to have to break the bad news. Asshole!”
“What news?” He loved watching her curvy body move around his office in that pantsuit. Hell that outfit fit like it’d been made for her, and it probably had been since she always complained she never found clothes that fit right. If they fit her hips, then everything was too big around the waist. He wouldn’t be surprised if she’d started having things tailor-made.
She stopped. “Okay, so here it is.” She visibly gulped and gripped one of his chairs. “I’m your new boss.”

Hi! I’m Milly (AKA April Angel) I love to write sexy stories. They’re usually either paranormal or contemporary with a large dose of heat. My paranormal stories can be anything from wolf-shifters (my favorites) to witches, demons and anything in between. I was born the prettiest part of the Caribbean known as the Dominican Republic. Currently, I live in New York City with my hubby, the bossy kiddo and our little dog “Needy Speedy”. Don’t ask.
When I’m not working some really long hours at the day job, or hanging out in the awful life-sucking invention known as Facebook, messaging my bestie in the UK or shopping with my sis Julie, then I can be found watching scary movies. Buuut when I’m not doing that, I’m usually writing because the voices won’t shut up.
I am addicted to shoe shopping, chocolate (but who isn’t, right?) and Dunkin’ Donuts coffee.
Come by and visit me! I love to meet new readers!
