Title: Chasing Me (Shaft on Tour, #3)
Author: Cat Mason
Publication Date: July 25, 2014
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Synopsis
Being the flashy frontman for the band Shaft definitely has its perks. Hunter Chesterfield, is infamous for exploiting them all shamelessly. When he isn’t busy commanding the stage and wooing every groupie in sight, he’s living for the three Bs; Bitches, Booze, and Bacon. He has it all, or so he thought.
Women have always been disposable to Hunter. Frisbees to toss away once’s he had his fun. There has never been a repeat rear-ender, until Chase.
Watching his bandmate, then his brother, fall in love has him wondering if he is even capable of love at all. Insatiable sex drive aside, no one would willingly want to deal with the storm brewing behind that sexy smirk, right? But, something about his smart mouthed, fiery Tiger Lily has Hunter rethinking everything.
While Hunter reevaluates his life, someone from his past comes back to haunt him; jeopardizing his future. The media is sniffing around, latching on to everything, and anything, they can dig up, as someone seems to be feeding the monster all Shaft’s dirty secrets.
Lies and betrayal mix with banter, sex and bacon as Shaft prepares to release their new album and blow into the mainstream.
Review
Chasing Me is the third book in Cat Mason’s Shaft on Tour series, and in my opinion, it’s the best of the three. In the last two stories, readers have seen Hunter Chesterfield’s front man persona, Cunter, on display – the filthy mouthed, sexified manwhore whose role in the band is to woo the women through the lyrics he sings and the body he shows off both during and after the show. But that’s not the man that Chase Hanlon saw or talked to when he was out on tour. For most of their time together, Hunter was the one who talked on the phone for hours with her and who brought her to multiple moments of ecstasy, but then he got scared of his feelings for her and hurt her in the worst way possible – he told her she was nothing more than a good time and his time with her was all used up. But even after Hunter set Chase free, she still haunted his dreams and consumed his thoughts, and now, he regrets the way he told Chase goodbye, and he needs to make it right, but that will only happen if Chase is willing to give him the time of day, which isn’t very likely because if Hunter knows anything about his Tiger Lily, it’s how feisty she is when her back’s against the wall.
Chase is absolutely the right woman for Hunter. She’s strong, passionate, and gives as good as she gets. She sees through his Cunter personality and understands the man who bottles up his emotions, so they can’t be used against him. She loves him with everything that she is and knows he feels more for her than he’s willing to acknowledge, but she’s just as scared as he is when he asks for a second chance. But when she sees the truth behind Hunter’s words, she decides to stand by him regardless of any drama that heads his way, which with Hunter, there will no doubt be drama! What follows Hunter and Chase’s reunion is a sexy, emotional, and dramatic story that proves that Hunter is a man of many skills beyond lead singer and panty melter and that Chase is a woman who is blessed with an immense amount of patience and forgiveness as well as the gift of knowing what to say and do at just the right times.
Chasing Me is a fantastic read. I love that readers get both Hunter and Chase’s perspectives because they’re essential in understanding what they are battling against both personally and as a couple. Even though Cunter fades into the background when Hunter decides to show his friends and family who he really is, I love that he still is the same smart mouthed and oversexual man he’s always been; he’s just a bit softer and more open. A huge part of what draws me to the Shaft on Tour series is the fact that the supporting characters play such pivotal roles in each book. Each member of the band and crew as well as their significant others are one big family who step up for one another when necessary and would willingly lay down their lives to protect all those they love. Cat Mason does a fantastic job of illustrating this closeness throughout each book whether it’s dealing with groupies or dangerous and volatile situations. It’s definitely an aspect that helps with the cohesiveness of the series as a whole.
If you’re looking for a series with sarcastic and quick witted dialogue as well as a group of wonderfully developed characters then this is the series for you! It doesn’t hurt that it’s about a bunch of gorgeous rockers either;)

Bonus scene from Chasing ME
“Melissa from The Week in Rock Blog is on her way up to the studio now.” Henry calls walking into the room.
“Well isn’t that just special?” I grin around a mouthful of the most delicious bacon burger I’ve ever had. Okay, okay, they’re all special to me, just like every piece of ass I’ve ever… Yeah, you get the point. “Would you rather I was feelin’ you up instead of this chuck of meat?” I shrug.
“How about we just focus on the music?” Henry deadpans. “You’re gonna have to let your obsession with my ass go, Hunter. It’s unhealthy to think you’ll ever measure up.” He teases, taking his usual place against the wall.
“We need to have our heads on straight.” Aiden tosses out flopping into the chair beside us. “This is a huge blog.”
Swallowing my last bite, I glare at him. “There’s something to be said for having a little curve.” I grin wickedly, thrusting my hips. “Angled, for her pleasure.”
Gray’s hand connects with the back of my head. “Use the head that has the brain, bro.” He chuckles. “Oh, wait…”
“Suck my…” The door swings open halting my response. A woman with long black hair pulled up in a ponytail. Her jeans are dark and faded, baggy. But what stops me is the shirt. ‘SHAFT Approved’ slapped right across her chest.
Oh shit, did I bone this chick? This could be awkward…
“Nice shirt,” Gray chuckles.
“Thanks, I enjoyed receiving it too.” She replies sitting across from me. “It will make a great addition to the article for the blog.”
I can feel the color slipping out of my face. Big Man watches me carefully. “You okay, Hunter? Sorta look like you’ve swallowed something… bitter.”
The guys start to laugh as I force myself to swallow. “Again,” Melissa starts, “I can’t thank you enough for setting up the interview and for sending the shirts over to our offices. Everyone was so thrilled.”
Glancing over to Aiden and Henry, I see their smug asshole grins. Leaning back against the couch cushions, I start rearranging the band in my head to see if we can manage without Aiden. Mack is a fine enough security brut. So yeah, as long as a chick isn’t attached to his Johnson, we’re golden. ‘Yeah, watch out, asshole.’ I think to myself, grinning at him.
“It seems like you’ve been touring non-stop until recently. With Grayson about to become a father does this mean that you guys are cutting back?” Mel asks scribbling on a notepad.
“No.” I reassure her. “What it means is we signed with Ironsound Records. They want a new album immediately so that becomes top priority. Giving our best to the fans will always be important.”
“How do you guys find a balance then?” She presses, meeting my eyes. “I mean it has to be difficult.”
“It can be,” Aiden pipes up. “But, it’s worth it.”
“Of course,” Gray adds. “We have to make sacrifices as do our girls. It’s about making every minute count on and off the stage.”
Melissa nods her head in agreement as she writes down all we’ve said. “What about you Hunter? Rumors are swirling like crazy that you’ve been tamed. You’ve been seen frequently with a redhead.”
I can’t help laughing. “Mack isn’t here today, it’s his day to call the numbers at Bingo.”
“Referring to Chase Hanlon,” She clarifies, grinning at me. “Is she taming the bad boy?”
“Mel, can I call you Mel?” I ask, she merely nods. “Mel, I’m a complex creature. One of a kind.” Grabbing my bottle I take a drink of water. “I don’t want to say I’m untamable. It wouldn’t be fair to all the women who have tried and sadly failed. The thing is though, I do my own thing and I need a woman who can roll with it.”
“Whore.” Henry coughs loudly, making the guys and Mel laugh.
“Who nibbles up my sloppy seconds like a starving Ethiopian?” I bite out before turning to Mel again. “As for Miss Hanlon, she is a friend of the band. We all enjoy having her around, including myself.”
Thoughts of leaving here on a plane as soon as this damn concert is over have been plaguing my mind all day. Today it’s a sold out crowd, tomorrow it’s my singing with my Tiger Lily. How will I manage to be that close to her and not destroy us both? That can’t go into the interview though, now can it? Best thing us guys have agreed on is protecting our girls at all costs.
Is Chase your girl, Hunter?
“Ahem,” Gray clears his throat drawing my attention.
“Is Chase Hanlon your girl, Hunter?” Mel repeats.
“We need to stick to the album and the concert tonight, I think. Don’t you? The Rock for A Cure Fest is very important to all of us. It’s a cause Ironsound Records is adamant about.” Cam says from the doorway. I don’t think I’ve ever loved this woman more than I do right now. “Their personal lives have little to do with the music being performed here later today, or the cause we’re supporting.”
Walking in, Cam takes a seat on the arm of Aiden’s chair. “Of course, sorry.” Mel says apologetically, digging through her notes. “Shield, is a song you’ve been playing a lot lately. The YouTube video of you performing it in Macon is really something.”
Macon makes me cringe. Sure it rhymes with bacon, and I love bacon, but we almost lost Daisy and Camaron there. Not to mention my near violation at the club. Date rape drugs, I could have been scarred for life. “Thanks, that song is very special to me.” Gray says grinning like an ass.
“That’s about you’re wife, Daisy, right?” Mel asks and Gray just nods.
“Well boys, I can’t wait for the show tonight. Camaron is right, it’s an admirable cause and something worth fighting for. It’s sold out so I gotta say thanks for the tickets and the shirts to get us backstage after to meet everyone else.” Mel says standing to her feet. “Just sad that you won’t be staying for the after party.”
Aiden, Gray, and I all look to Cam who simply nods. “Yes, but there are a few things that have to be handled immediately before the guys can start recording.”
Mel’s eyes widen, “Nothing serious I hope.”
Standing to her feet, Cam shakes her head. “No, nothing like that. Thanks for coming out, Melissa. We will have time set aside for you to take pictures with the guys before they hit the stage tonight. Let us know if you need anything else for your post and I can take care of it.”
“Thanks guys, have a great show.” Mel says leaving the room.
Dread and excitement both churn in my gut at the same time. My nerves are restless with every passing minute and this dick has to remind me. In less than twenty four hours, I’ll be face to face with my Tiger Lily. The one who wrecked me and now has me rethinking everything I once thought I wanted. I don’t deserve her. I won’t even attempt to make her leave that bitch boy, Mitch. I have to make her understand that she is special to me, though. Regret is something I’ve never felt, until now. I can’t stand the thought of her hating me for the rest of our lives. The way I left things, she would be stupid to feel anything for me anymore. No matter how small the chances, part of me aches for her to say those three words one more time.
