REVIEW TOUR: REVIEW, EXCERPT, AND GIVEAWAY: Saving Poughkeepsie by Debra Anastasia

Beckett Taylor’s quest to be a better man has brought Eve Hartt back into his life, but sometimes it feels like they’re bound together with barbed wire. Though he longs to love her without causing pain, the wreckage of their past continues to crash down around them. Yet with the help of this brothers—and for his brothers—Beckett won’t stop trying. He’s determined to make them all a family, to make a life they want to live, and to make Poughkeepsie a place that’s safe to live it. He can feel their futures balanced precariously on his shoulders: Blake and Livia and their children, Cole and Kyle and the new baby they’ve just brought home, and Eve…always Eve. He wants their dreams to be real. But murderers don’t just get Happily Ever After handed to them. They have to wrench it away from Satan himself. Good thing Beckett is prepared to do just that. After all, saving Poughkeepsie is the only way his story ends. Prepare your heart and your head for a wild ride in this final installment of the Poughkeepsie Brotherhood series. Debra Anastasia does not disappoint as she weaves the last chapter of a story that blends true love, turbulent emotions, and life’s harsh realities into an uplifting tale that calls to the good in each of us.

Review

Defend Poughkeepsie. Defend his family. Defend his killer. These three things have become Beckett Taylor’s new mission. The man who has committed every deplorable, illegal act known to man wants to prove his loyalty and his love to the people who matter most to him, even if that means he loses his life in the end. The final book in Debra Anastasia’s The Poughkeepsie Brotherhood series, Saving Poughkeepsie, finds Beckett walking a fine line between evil and good as he and Eve try to figure out what Rodolfo Vitullo is going to do for payback over his daughter’s death, and he and his brothers work to give a second chance to all those in Poughkeepsie who would never get one without them. Growing up in the circumstances that they did, Blake, Cole and Beckett never knew what the future held for them, or if they were even going to have one. Beckett took the steps to ensure that Blake and Cole had as much of a shot as possible, sacrificing himself in the process, which he would have done time and time again to give his brothers a chance at happiness, and now that they have it, Beckett will continue to put them first in order to protect their families. Blake and Livia ~ Their family has expanded, and Blake has the kind of life he could only dream of; as a husband and a father, he’s found his place, and he’s willing to do anything to hold onto it. Watching him with his children and Livia proves how far he’s come since book one, which is exactly what every reader has wanted for him since the beginning of the story. Blake and Livia’s connection is everything that they both deserve and their bond continues to grow in the last book despite the turmoil that surrounds them. Cole and Kyle ~ They’ve struggled with their wish for a child, but now that they have a chance at adding to their family, they’re grabbing hold and running with it. Cole’s outlook on life and his faith in those he loves has carried them forward and ensured them a real chance at love and happiness. Kyle has always been a forced to be reckoned with; her sass and wit adds such a great dynamic to her and Cole’s relationship and helps lighten their environment when such heavy and dark things surround them. Beckett and Eve ~ To me, Return to Poughkeepsie and Saving Poughkeepsie are their story; completing their mission and protecting their family is their way to redemption – an attempt to save themselves and each other. In order to do those things, they’re going to have to put everything on the line and journey down to hell and back and hope that in the end, they’ve done enough to deserve a second chance despite all of the horrendous sins they’ve committed. Apart, Beckett and Eve are incomplete, so it only makes sense that they proceed together as a unit, executing their plan with precision and malice. Those people that they are up against are vindictive bastards who will do anything they can in order to get what they want, so as the mystery of what Rodolfo Vitullo wants starts to unfold, Beckett and Eve are going to have to work against the clock in order to ensure the danger remains at bay. “we-don’t-take-shit-in-Poughkeepsie…” That’s the message Beckett wants everyone to heed as he tries to use evil to do good and restore Poughkeepsie to what it once was, and as he fights to protect his family from the evil that he unleashed on them, he’ll do whatever it takes to give his brothers and Eve every chance at happiness because that’s all he’s ever wanted for them. Saving Poughkeepsie is a twisty and action packed conclusion to The Poughkeepsie Brotherhood series. The varying perspectives that Anastasia gives her readers allow us to see all sides of the situation and understand each one’s motives, and as the puzzle pieces slowly start to fall into place and the good guys get a clear sense of what’s to happen, we watch as they painstakingly attempt to thwart evil from winning and give everyone a fighting chance for a positive outcome. With an incredibly complex and well thought out storyline as well as a cast of dynamic characters who are continually transforming, Anastasia gives readers an engrossing tale of love, violence, mystery, and brotherhood. Excerpt

“I’m not worried about tomorrow. I’m worried about right now, with you, under this Christmas tree.” Blake supported her neck as he laid her on the floor. Livia turned her head. “You’d better convince me. So far you’ve talked about the dog going to the bathroom, trash, and dirtiness.” Blake kissed her jaw and turned her head gently, kissing her mouth as she bit her lips together. “Can’t I just convince you with my manly ways?” He wiggled his eyebrows. He could, of course, do just that—but she shook her head. She loved the playful sparkle in his green eyes. His five o’clock shadow just made him more handsome, framing his kissable lips with scruff. “Okay.” He put his fingers at the bottom of her shirt, lifting it gently so he could circle her belly button with his index finger. “You’re the sexiest, most beautiful woman on this planet. So sexy, in fact, that I had to have you. I had to make you bear my children because my universe and yours had to be combined. Everything I’ve ever been needed to be buried inside of you, so deep, so full of love that we created life. Twice.” He lifted her shirt and kissed the tops of her breasts, whispering his devotion into her skin. “And it’s never enough. Unless I can hear you coming, I can’t think of anything else. All day every day. For years now. You’re that powerful, Livia. This. Us. It’s so intense that years haven’t cured me. I can’t stop wanting to make love to you.” “Wow.” Livia smiled and pulled his face back to hers, kissing him and effectively stopping his beautiful words.
